  • [X] Yes, it would improve communication a thousandfold, though such a being could not be trusted with confidential information such as that which the Inquisition regularly handles.
-[X] Rather than simply making the request of the Moonsingers on our behalf, ask Alysande to re-introduce us to them so that we might offer them a parcel of land in Sorcerer's Deep on which they can build a new temple. We are always interested in establishing positive relationships with benevolent or even neutral deities. Should the Moonsingers prove amenable, we are willing to assist in establishing their new temple, providing material support as well as magic-aided construction.
--[X] Express our interest in gaining the services of one or more Watchers. We don't want to use them in the same manner as the Silver Eye, however, nor would they be used to spy on our citizens, visitors to the island, or potential enemies. They would instead be used to facilitate easy communication throughout Sorcerer's Deep, and to perhaps even make it possible to share musical performances, plays, and tournaments with nearby settlements on the island.
--[X] Before they accept our offer, however, give a detailed explanation of our doctrine and laws, especially in regards to blood sacrifice of those who are unquestionably enemies of humanity, and in some cases employing those same types of beings for our own purposes. If such practices are unacceptable to their tenets, then we will politely withdraw our offer, including the request for assistance from a Watcher spirit, and thank them for their time. Also make it known that pretending to accept these practices, only to later protest after the temple has been established, would have serious repercussions for them, the least of which would be eviction from Sorcerer's Deep.
    [X] Refuse the offer
-[X] Ask for a referral instead for a favor with the Moonsingers to get the service of the Mirror Mephit for our personal use.
-[X] Offer to have a temple built for the Moonsinger Goddess in Sorcerer's Deep when we talk to them.

Consensus reached, @DragonParadox.

[x] Goldfish

Honestly they seem perfectly fine to me. We just wont involve them in Malarys's more...shadier assignments. Having a light side to the inquisition along with its bureaucratic side and it's dark under elly sounds like a good idea. And I stand by my belief that a NG population will be ideal. Good does not mean stupid and it certainly does not have to mean untrustworthy.
You are aware that you want to induce factionalism in a organisation that can order Legion deployments, right?

Keeping the Inquisition on the tight and narrow is paramount to it being an asset instead of a liability and neither meddling outsiders, nor interal divisions will lead to anything even remotely pretty.

Huh.
You know, if they accept the offer...
Their whole religion can become entirely something else with the tagline going by.
Just SD having this would be already really, really great.
As in, whole new level of "great", TV-like services are something rarely a valuable to public even in high-magic settings.
Great idea, @Goldfish, thank you.

But if they start doing this service Empire-wide?
Whoo boy.

For the record, I do love the idea of Magitek-TV and am keenly interested in dropping as much money into it as necessary to get good coverage.

That it's powered by some headstrong little outsider is annoying, but I'm sure we can cut out the middle-mephit with a bit of effort.

We've already kind of got a rudimentary version. We used our Raven constructs to have Viserys simultaneously give a pre-prepared speech to our Legion right before the Conquest of Tyrosh.

And beyond that, I'm sure the infamous Glass Candles of Valyria have similar functions.

Yes similar functions, but a even with medieval technology, a mirror is just plain cheaper than an enchanted Valyrian artefact.

It's all a question of economy of scale.

The king having a magic mirror to contact his generals is one thing.

Being able to watch sports on any inn with your buddies while having a cold one? Whole other ball game.

Should we break out the beers? Quilmes tastes nice, like a vaguely respectable version of budweiser

I was already made to engage in the old tradition of "get thrown a lot of crap at you when you finally graduate because everybody else finds it funny". So flour, eggs, vinegar, that thing that looks like cream but it is not edible because it is used for shaving, vinegar, some arcane formula that included corn flour, vinegar, yerba and some green thing that I could not get out of a t-shirt. And toilet paper.

I don't drink beer though, I don't like it very much and I have a condition that makes it somewhat harmful for me.

Yes, but the problem is that everything else was edible in some way so that if you were stupid enough to open your mouth when they were throwing things at you it would not be a problem for your health. Barring that.

Also I got a puppy that tried to lick shaving cream off my boots and I was far too soaked in crap to keep it from eating it.

Wow, and here I thought regular graduations sucked. I might or might not have mislead my grandmother about the day of my graduation so I would have a good reason to skip the whole event, and it wouldn't have involved anything unpleasant being thrown at me.

Sorry to poke at your "Great and Enlightened Modern World"-bubble, but we are not that much better these days and disdain for cultural practices or a polities actions without trying to understand the reasoning behind it is most certainly one of the less endearing habits of humanity.

It also leads to some of our greatest fuck-ups as a species.

Yep. I was drunk.

Mine was a mild one, though. The crap they can throw at you increases in unpleasantness to the point I've heard that feces and urine have been used. You got to be careful of how wild your friends are. I am pretty chill and mostly have female friends that would't engage in those extreme practices.

Other times they end up shaving your head (I've heard of shaved eyebrows too, the damned bastards). Yeah, it can end up even worse.

"A magic item made specifically to counter arrogant mages. Well, the solution is obviously constant vigilance."

Madeye: "Stop stealing my shitck, Targaryen!"

"You may be the instructor this term, but I was teaching in this class before you! And I'm fairly certain I subscribe to the notion more thoroughly, too!"

Kelpie-Breaker?

Now I really want to send magelings to her. She can guide them in fighting fey, and also get some nifty trophies.
