@Goldfish, how much would an item of Phantom Steed at will cost? I've been thinking about this for a while, and it's pretty much perfect for any of our minions who don't have Teleport and don't have mounts.

Also on an unrelated note, I really, really want to find some Hippogriff that we can talk into allowing us to harvest its wings as grafts then reincarnating it as something else. We could give the Large wings to a Minotaur.

Phantom Steed is one of those really good spells that don't translate all that well into an enchanted item. It's heavily dependent on caster level to gain high speed and the additional special abilities, such as the power to water walk.

Lya could craft an item to cast Phantom Steed on command for just 2,025 IM, but each Phantom Steed would only be at 5th caster level. They would be faster than any normal horse, with a base speed of 100, but would have no other special abilities.

To craft that item at 14th caster level, which would grant all special abilities, including flight, would cost 5,670 IM. That's 29 days of crafting for her, and not something she could actually do until she levels up again.

Okay, this made me physically laugh. Consider your post rated "Funny" five times for me.
You wouldn't laugh if you knew the backstory. I'm not sure if that happened in your parts too, but I think a lot here still remember AOL sending millions advertising of CDs by snail-mail.

Some moron actually thought that this was a marvelous idea and nearly had the CMO agree to try sending out blank contracts to every single address we could harvest from somewhere. It took quite a few spreadsheets and a few bits of planted evidence linking that guy who brought up the proposal to a Daemon faction to stop that bit of wasted money. Even then, we only managed to talk them down to sending emails instead to lower the costs.

That project is still in Development Hell and the guys over there are not exactly eager to ever get it completed, what with the asinine requests for the whole thing coming from Marketing.

But it did get the attention of the big boss and he had us recruit some mortals who actually knew how this stuff is supposed to work these days. Hence the CRM platform.

Ah, the 90s.

I used to have a stack of those AOL CDs. I threw them at my little brother when he annoyed me. Got a critical hit with one particular throw and cut his leg pretty good.

Speaking of magical live extension, I've been thinking about how to to deal with it legally.

"Someone resurrected or reincarnated, is for the purposes of inheritance treated as a new youngest child."

+ keeps people that were dead for longer from suddenly unseating existing rulers.
+ makes wealth concentration harder since it is (hopefully) better split among children.
+- ? Dany'd have a stronger claim on the throne than Viserys now?

Maybe for resurrection have a grace period of about a month or so between dying and coming back before getting bumped down? There's a difference between "Oops, he lost a little too much blood; let's get him and a suitable sized diamond to the nearest cleric who can rez him" and someone who's been dead for years.

Duly noted.

Is that Phantom Steed at will capable of summoning multiple Phantom Steeds at the same time? If so it would be an excellent tool for the Legion as well as bands of PCs we send off to the far ends of the globe.

It would be on command. Normally, the casting time of Phantom Steed is 10 minutes, but thankfully DP changed that to a Standard Action.

So, if you were properly motivated, you could create one Phantom Steed every six seconds.

I'm having fantasies of crossbowmen on Phantom Steeds. :o

But yeah. This is definitely worth it when we can make the time.

...It feels really, really weird to be telling so much truth.
I think I've gotten too used to everyone being an asshole and a potential enemy.

Matketing oportunity for our new planar apple cider?

I wonder how the brewers are doing with it.
I'm sure we'll see results soon enough. They're the perfect people for the job.

I have very high hopes for that Dawn Fruit Cider. It's going to make a killing in the Opaline Vault.

And since it has anti-necromancy properties, it's probably going to come in handy against the Long Night as well.

Yeah, but it might not work. Such is the nature of experimentation. Dawn fruit does not rot, though, so fermentation may be a problem.

Then again, magic - any anti-rot properties may well vanish if someone is putting in effort to make a drink out of it.

...Anti-death pesticides.
We're really on the bleeding edge of progress, aren't we?
Not a pesticide, it's just an additional temporary warding.
Elysium Fruit primary effect discovered: Cures Fatigue/Lessens Exhaustion to Fatigue and grants +2 sacred bonus to saves vs. Necromancy spells for one hour
It's just something useful for anyone Beyond the Wall to have. Speaking of which, adding that to the preparations for the mission by the baby PCs due on the nineteenth of this month.

I'm sure they'll figure out some way to make a drink out of it, most likely changing the effects a bit.

In particular I want to distill RAW GOOD out of it. It is going to be useful in staving off the evil tendencies of our future army of converted Devils

An important part of VS forging process likely involves blood magic, thus quenching in someone's life's blood.

Blood magic is at best Neutral, probably usually used by Evil people, if only because you can target vast numbers of intelligent creatures for vast 'oomph' at the risk of drawing in some plucky misfit heroes to interrupt your ritual at a critical moment.

If you want to invent a ritual forging process which explicitly produces a Good aligned weapon, that may be a research avenue to pursue with Mantarys, since they would be highly interested in that.

Personally I'd like to get a big stockpile of regular Valyrian Steel first. I've got a soft spot for the blood-magic dragonsteel.

Conquer Volantis then!

Seriously though, I find it obsolete now. We can just craft really indestructible magic adamantine items now, or +3 cold iron aligned weapons.

What does everyone think Richard would do against the current Kingsguard?

With him fighting demons for a job he would be like "Finally fighting a normal Kingsguard"
