If the Lich is at least 12, we don't need the clerics so long as we capture it. So that's that handled.

Smoky confinement and anti-divination measures should keep them long enough for Yss to snack on one, then the other. That's two smaller, but no less useful boons, and more importantly less powerful spellcasters for the Tiamat faction of the conspiracy. Illyrio, as Azel said, will not be well inclined towards Tia-chan if he believes she's the one who ultimately led to calling down the Targaryen hammer--which is at least partially true. We would not have been this paranoid and obsessive about running a clean sweep if there were not Tiamat clerics involved.

Yes. I am very much looking forward to murdering that thing. Capturing it is going to be tough, so I want Tyene there with Chains of Light. And Waymar should also be there. I want him to make his first sacrifice on his own and take his revenge. I think the hardest thing is going to be to get the Landwarden to go along with bonding with the Heart Tree. Manageable, yes, but the DC for that is going to be tough.

But before that, Sallosh. Tyene, Garin, Teana, and Leila should be brought over to help. I wanted Xor initially, but Xor is busy building our capital city. :( We'll make sure to get him some XP some other way, I guess. This "High Priest" of Sallosh sounds very worrying, especially since it was supposed to be the cleric's trump card against us. ... Yeah, the paranoia is strong now. But purging now while we have time is infinitely better than letting this place fester and rot in our absence until the plague of undead breaks free due to our inattention.

@Goldfish, probably not a Lich since it's a priest and Liches aren't religious, but what undead would be enough to give us cause to worry?

It hurt Waymar.

He may be a pain in the ass, but goddammit, he's our pain the ass. So yeah, I'm looking forward to that.

Something like a Mummy Lord or Ghost would be appropriate.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it ended up being a Ghost, given the circumstances of Sallosh's fall.

About the Lys Lich (Lili?), He belongs to the warden, so im not sure we will be able to sacrifice It. It would be strangely cannibalistic if we are sacrificing a portion of the power we are trying to bind.

A huge reason we're bothering with the Landwarden at all instead of just leaving it alone is because the Lich needs to die. We're not leaving it alive. Also, the Landwarden has only enslaved the Lich, it hasn't shared its power or anything. I don't think there will be much of an issue to the Landwarden if the slave is taken away in exchange for release from eternal torment.

Mm i was under the impression that the Lich would crumble to dust the moment the warden stopped feeding It. Are we sure the Lich is a normal Lich with a phylactery and everything? I kinda assumed it became a Lich after It was taken by the warden.
Sure, It has some connection to the House of the undying, but that might well have come later.

It seemed confident it would be able to escape the moment the Landwarden enslaved something else, so I think it's safe to say that it wasn't relying on power via the Landwarden to sustain itself.

Mm i dont remember that particular conversation, but i trust your memory of the quest better than mine. Ok, Lyli sacrifice It is.

The Landwarden would be fully okay with dying, so long as we end it's torment, it don't care if we turn it into a basic slime and set it lose in the severs.

That was actually why the Lich went after Waymar at all. It swooped in after the first powerful caster it saw to serve as its replacement slave. Even if it did depend on the Landwarden, it must have found some way around that.

Yep. True. It prefers death to continued torturous existence. But binding it to a Heart Tree would be a major victory for us and the Old Gods. The Old Gods get an incredible power-up and we suddenly have an epic-level ally within our strongest sphere of influence (Stepstones and surrounding areas).

My take on It was that It wanted replacement because It too wanted to die, though It has hopes of being free again but didnt know how.
I guess i mixed the motivations of master and slave in my mind.

That was what we initially thought, but then it turned that around on us and tried to extort us to free it instead of just killing it. That to me was proof that it saw a chance for freedom with Waymar and pounced, but then we destroyed its body and proceeded to demolish the defenses of its lair, proving we weren't to be taken lightly.

So it negotiates with us. We're willing to kill it? Great. As a last option. But are we willing to free it? No? Okay then, not unexpected. All that needs to be done is holding the entire island hostage so we don't try to kill it before it can get its freedom. Too bad for it that Dany turned the Landwarden against it, but yeah.

It wasn't something obvious, so it's understandable that it was missed, but I'm pretty confident that the moment the Landwarden tries to enslave someone else the Lich will be truly free and immediately teleport away.

Hmm this might be paranoia but what if sacrificing Tiamat Clerics to Yss gives her an "in" on corrupting him? Or an adverse mystical link in general?

I can't imagine the odds of that to be bigger than for the Insectoid Godhead... but then again, Chronos and Zeus both learned their lesson the hard way.

But since they both ate other gods instead of mere mortals that aren't even Epic level, I think Yss should be safe.

There was also an expedition to Bhorash but they disturbed something old in the ruins and the Men of Mantarys came under the command of one of their Angel Lords and cast them out

Has Relath been feeling diplomatic? It's a long way from Mantarys to those ruins.

@Duesal, about sacrificing to Yss. He has two avatars, not one. Use the belt to sacrifice the clerics. Also, can we have Vee ask Yss this time? Twice she did that, and we have options. When we do it, it's "Asssk" or "Dessire?"

It would be a terrible dick move, specially since Yss is getting a steady influx of sacrifices directly to him. Speaking of which, how many HD worth of sacrifice we gave him again?

I get where you're coming from, but there's no reason to worry. If it was divination we were talking about, then we need to worry about Tiamat vs Yss. But sacrificing the clerics would be taking Tiamat's power away from her and using it to empower Yss. Tiamat wouldn't be able to do a damn thing about it.

As @Karmic Acumen pointed out, we've sacrificed pieces of divinity before. There was the Mantis God head, but there was also the daughter of Bachus, god of madness and cannibalism. Yss was perfectly fine when we sacrificed those.

The Archons and Relath are already in a military alliance. I'm not too surprised the Archons were able to pass through so easily.

And yes, Yss has multiple means of sacrifice, but 1) doing so in his temple has greater meaning since it's the heart of his power, and 2) we're forced to wait until he's finished digesting Lileath. Not the most urgent thing in the world since we just need to guard the sacrifices carefully until Yss is ready for us.

Also, I think DP's learned which types of rewards are appreciated more. Tangible loot? Great. Thanks. Ability boosts or spell slots? Wonderful. Fetch quest we won't benefit from for months on end? Eh. It'll be nice when we do it, but that won't be for a long time. I trust DP to do right by us this time.
