I wouldn't be surprised if Illyrio is still quite nearby, hiding in a previously prepared bolthole. There are several methods to fool the Wayfinder, the most accessible of them being the Nondetection spell. Mage's Private Sanctum might do it, too, but I'm not sure. A one use Nondetection item would have been pretty cheap and good for at least five hours.

We shouldn't give up on finding him just yet. While we are here, there is no reason not to keep checking for him every hour. If he's hiding under any sort of temporary effect, it won't last very long.

The cycle starts over if they go a round without firing arrows. It's not ideal, but it's still awesome.

It's only out of combat utility healing which is nice enough but also easy enough to come by.

Mid-battle multi-action healing of multiple allies AND damaging multiple enemies with the same slot is a little harder to come by.

I think the archers are ideal bodyguards for Rhaella. At least one of them.

They can fight like hell, especially if we make them a simple Necklace of Natural Weapons +1 (500 IM each for the two slams) so they can bypass DR/Magic and also punch ghosts.

The archers have the advantage of being able to extract her through flight.

No need to be too greedy. The whole Repair Damage line of spells will make Construct healing quite easy. If we can get our hands on the Summon Clockwork Mender spell, or just learn to create them, that would be great, too.

Alright, finally home after driving for an hour.

Waymar was really irritating this chapter. Now he's objecting to using the body parts of magical creatures? Not only is it downright hypocritical of him since he happily uses demon flesh as an alchemical reagent, he blithely ignores how incredibly useful these things have been, and that there's little reason not to harvest materials after these things have been killed. At this point it honestly feels like he's being difficult for the sake of having a "moral" dilemma when in reality it was just "I feel squeamish about this so I think it's wrong".

I don't want to permanently task one of them with guarding her. That would require entrusting her with a control figurine, which could easily be stolen and used against her and us. Day to day, I think leaving them under Aradia's control when she is in SD would be for the best, and with Xor when she's on a mission.

They're going to be difficult enough to transport anywhere that the only practical way to do it in any reasonable amount of time is to use the Shadow Tower, so they won't likely be away from SD very often.

Like I said, we need to get him back in close proximity to Tyene ASAP. He's already starting to backslide without her around to degrade his moral compass.

Agreed. He's been really good about keeping himself in check for a while now, but this was just a moment of sheer stupid. I was shocked and disappointed that he regressed.

I think Malarys rubs him the wrong way, so his natural tendency is to take the opposite position, even if he agreed with Malarys in the past.

I trust Rhaella to be marginally competent. We won't get a better bodyguard than one of those archers.

I thought DP said they could be teleported?

I mean, that's basically what it was?

Waymar is squeamish about wearing sapient leather, and thus doesn't look fondly upon doing so.

Note that he did not stop us from making the Fey Drake armor, and that if we told him to wear a fiend skin robe he would do it with a minimum of grumbling.

I really don't get why he thread is freaking out about Waymar expressing a differing opinion from the consensus.

Because it's not just expressing an opinion, Waymar actually said that we shouldn't have done it. He had the nerve to get self-righteous at us for it, in spite of knowing planar cosmology and that the soul doesn't linger in the body, despite knowing how freaking useful the armor was, despite knowing that the fey drake actively tried to kill us, in spite of being an absolute hypocrite since he uses fiendish parts for his alchemy. This smacks of being difficult for the sake of it, and that more than anything pisses me off. So yeah, decidedly not sympathetic with Waymar.

@DragonParadox BTW, where you do come down on the "Can Golems be Teleported?" debate?

It's a creature, not alive or dead, but nonetheless a creature for all intents and purposes a creature so its 'infinite spell resistance' does not apply to the teleportation effect.

You are correct. I forgot the answer to that very question when I asked him on Saturday.

That's beautiful. I can't wait to do a Surprise!Golems to someone who annoys us.

We should keep the golems around when we eventually clear out the Sarnori ruins. Their magic immunity will be invaluable against the undead.

Maybe remind him of the time Relath gave us one of his scales to make a ring? Even dragons see their own bodies as something valuable to be used, that poor fey drake would never find peace in the afterlife if we didnt use his skin.

It...smacks of him disagreeing with Malarys/Viserys?

Like, you're acting as though he burned down your trophy room or something, when all he did was say that we shouldn't have made the fey drake armor.
Sure, it's hypocritical, but everyone is. Hell, Viserys is a pretty large hypocrite and no one ever bats an eye.

And yes, you can justify said hypocrisy with "practicality", but it doesn't change what it is.
I would think Waymar saying a sentence of disagreement would garner at worst one snide remark, not the beginning of another s-word fest from the thread.

Edited the s-word out

Now you're just blowing everything out of proportion. We're annoyed with Waymar being Waymar. This is nothing new. It's been a running theme of the thread, going back thousands upon thousands of pages. He's Lawful Good, so that is bound to happen. Repeatedly.

That's no reason to toss out the S-word.

BTW, today is the 17th, which means we are just three days into the ten we allotted for the Illyrio mission on the turn schedule.

The only person whose schedule the current mission impacted seriously was Dany, and since the Dracolich task is no longer relevant, she can easily accomplish her stuff later in the month. Vee lost a few days of Memory Moss research, but that's hardly worth mentioning.

Speaking of the Dracolich, now that it's out of the Tower, Lya and Malarys are getting back six days that can be used for other tasks. Lya could get some extra crafting done or learn some new spells. No clue about what we could have Malarys do. Maybe just see about setting up an efficient Imperial Bureaucracy?

What do ya'll think?

Maybe so.

I just get surprised every time I see people throw so much vitriol Waymar's way, since it seems excessive in my opinion.
I can just keep my thoughts to myself if it's bothering anyone.

No reason to withhold your opinion, but don't try to turn it around and say there's something wrong with us being annoyed by him, please?
