We need another wayfinder or two.

The sellscribe or dominated guy should (hopefully) be able to wayfinder them.

Alas that the pleasant, or at the very least not unpleasant news could not continue forever. While Dany and Lya are fine and presumably still at their task, there is no further trace of Illyrio Mopatis. He is not upon this world anymore, or else hidden behind potent wards.

Who or what teleported him out, they didn't have anything left besides the discount daemon that can't teleport. 'Apprentices' don't sound like this have the skill level to teleport.

Lastly did they find where he disappeared at and try to use none magical means to track him?

Can't we go to the last place/direction the Wayfinder was pointing at? Unless Illyrio suddenly gained magical teleporting powers, he might actually still be just below us somewhere. Or we'll find another Gate like the one the Illithid had.

Again, if there's appreciable numbers of men here and the majority of them can be cleared of Tiamat's touch, I won't turn down even hundreds of free veteran mercenaries.

And you can bet your ass if this city somehow holds over at thousand of them and they have ships to carry themselves I'll argue for securing their loyalty. The utility analysis may leave Viserys feeling a little unclean, but we've got invasions to plan and wars to fight.

God damnit, Waymar. This is what happens when we let you out of Tyene's sight for a few days.

I don't see much of a problem recruiting them for our sellswords. Remember from the conversations we had with them and overheard that they're anything but fond of Tiamat (The Dark Lady) and her priests ("Shadowbitch"). And the moment they left they immediately considered betrayal, with the only hesitation coming due to fear of the Mark of Justice.

Check for those that were more involved and didn't object, and kill those. The ignorant ones we can take with us. They're Golden Company standard, far better than the average sellsword around. Plus, it'll prevent any moral objections from the party and help Viserys calm his conscience.

I suppose my difficulty with that is that the morality of an action is at least somewhat intertwined with practicality. There was no way to push the people in Essaria to non-tiamat paths that would not take time looking after them and changing their culture, so kill them.

Here, if they have reasonable transport to go to somewhere we can use them, then don't kill, otherwise kill them.

When one can teleport anywhere and be reasonably certain they can make the world a better place by stopping some monsters, escorting a bunch of people for a few months is less-moral.

Fair enough, but even then it would have been difficult and time consuming to arrange not flatly impossible.

Anyway, good night guys, see you in the morning with the wrap up.

  • A magical attack that deals fire damage breaks any slow effect on the golem and heals 1 point of damage for each 3 points of damage the attack would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points. An iron golem gets no saving throw against fire effects.
I almost wish they were Meelee just to abuse our AoEs.

Ah, but you missed the best part. Iron Archer Golems can shoot arrows of magical flame. As long as we keep them paired up, they can heal one another.

And they can be used to heal the regular Iron Golem, too, should the situation call for it.

@Goldfish I want the Iron Golem for the Shadow Tower. That will be a nasty surprise for the first enemy who tries to raid it. And the Iron Archer Golems would make good defenders for the town while we're absent.

You know, this deserves a Divination. "Where is the Fat Man?"

And then move to that place. I really doubt that his Third base would be more fortified than the Second one.

Edit: or even better. We let them rebuild and strike them again, only to waste Tiamat's efforts. Better to have an enemy you know

-[X] Those who attempt to flee will be killed where they stand, for we cannot chance the survival of mortal worshipers of the Bitch Queen.
-[X] Those found to be mere hirelings with no true understanding of what their masters were doing here in Sallosh, and who don't seem too morally objectionable, will be offered freedom. The rest will be executed. In this situation, logistics and outside circumstances afford us the opportunity to be merciful in a way that was not nearly so feasible in Essaria. Let the survivors spread tales of our wrath.
--[X] Any sellsword found particularly promising will be offered the chance to join our Legion.

Part of the issue with the sellswords in Essaria is we caught them in the middle of ravaging and enslaving the Little Valryians. We were a wee bit ticked off about that in particular. Just because someone doesn't agree to follow Tiamat doesn't mean they're not also committing crimes that we punish with death.

These guys have also been doing questionable things. Consorting with demons, etc. However, there is no active atrocity going on right in front of us, so it's actually easier to follow our M.O. for that we established back with the Steelborn. Kill the worst ones, the ones known as vile even among the company, and make it clear what isn't tolerated anymore. Hang anyone who violates the law.

I can't decide if the Iron Golem would be a better protector outside of the Tower, guarding the entrance plinth, or inside, ready to murder the fuck out of anyone who intrudes?

I'm still leery of Tiamat fans among them, but after giving it some thought, we did have Dany preach about her bitchyness in the very early days of SD. Kinda feeling this is a lost cause and we should just nab as much manpower as we can.

Like, would you want to wear someone's flayed skin? It's probably super itchy, anyways.

That's not what I'm objecting to. It's the statement that we shouldn't have used the dead Fey Drake to make armor for Dany. It smacks of that long ago conversation he had with Bloodraven, where he boldly declared he would let all of the party die rather than compromise his honor, or something to that effect.

Great job guys. I was a bit worried since we weren't at our peak performance but we rose to the occasion. Now to get those apprentices and Illyrio.

I mean, I would also prefer for our companions to not wear the skin of sapients, honestly.
If it somehow happens to be literally the best material available, than sure, gotta do what you gotta do.

But otherwise, refer to my post above :V

Actually, we have a lever to turn them. Tiamat's servant was going to release the undead present to kill everyone living and abandoning the place (and the men here). I'd spare the rank and file, and explain exactly what was going to happen to them, and how little Tiamat values them. I'm still a little unclear on what the MoJ was keyed to do on betrayal of Tiamat, but if it's something fixable over time I'd have the officers renounce Tiamat or be executed, with us using the MoJ curse as a sincerity test.

It's called leather, after it's treated properly. And it can be itchy, if you wear it against your bare skin and you get all sweaty. :p
