Wait. Isn't the smelter opening a grand court function? :???:

I mean... there is Viserys... and people... and something to speechify about...
The last part is optional, but it being present is a clear indicator of a grand court function.

No, I meant the smelter will be the focus of a court function so you can't really move it away to say ennoble Leila without coming off as scattered.

It's pretty much a "Thanks for helping, Leila! I don't pay you enough. Lya, we don't pay her enough, right? What sounds good to you? How does 600M a year sound? You're right, that's just money, you're worth more than money. You need something fancy so everyone knows how great you are! Ah, that's it. You can be the Royal Archivist, as well! Great! Glad we had this conversation, bye!"

I'm not sure granting her a Wisdom title is good though. She's a mage for sure, but she's never going to hit the 4th circle of spells (our rough "You're a very serious magic user" cut off).

It's a bit weird cutoff.
By that measure Maelor wouldn't count for quite some time, Waymar not yet and Valeana similarly late (if she gets that limited-casting class).

I would say CL 6 or 7 sounds more accurate, though slightly harder to measure IC.

Actually, if we have the ability to turn people into stone and back rather easily, doesn't that make mass transportation of people and animals much easier? I mean just petrify them and shove them into a bag of holding. It might also be possible to sacrifice petrified beasts directly to the old gods given that they are stone gods.

Waymar isn't following the Wisdom route, he's following the Knight route, and has more than earned his knighting.

Maelor is still our apprentice, of course he's still working towards it. Valaena doesn't need it, she's already a noble.

I'd say we can make an exception for Leila due to the pure value she has. Lya's official apprentice who helps her craft our magic items deserves that boost.

I thought we are activly trying to raise other classes, such as mages and bureocrates, to be equal to nobles without individually ennobling them.

There's no point in trying to change society in that regard if we ennoble anyone important anyway.
I want to ennoble mages, because if we make it a common thing that strong magic equal nobility, then Lya can be counted as a noble, which can negate a bit of the problems we will get when we marry her.

That's why I want a lower title, for people who just have 2 circle spells, but have proven themselves in our service, something roughly equivalent to a hedgeknight.

I you don't mind having to solve a puzzle when you arrive every other trip.

Why are you all picking the smelter, I can't see any gain? Do we still have time to do everything anyway?

How about a title before Wisdom, like Squire for Knights?
e.g. Seeker, Scholar, Aspirant, ..

Ennobling mages is defeating the entire point of us redecorating the social order.

Giving them fancy titles to signify their membership in the estate of Mages is fine, but making everyone and their mother landed nobility is pointless.

We can always lay out the foundations of the court gathering with her first, by telling her what we plan to do, and then later plan out the court event.

... shit did Viserys just invent the pre-planing meeting?

Nah, that's more doing business and then putting on a big show for the media about it.

I'm really tempted to write up an incantation for a ritual to un-petrify it.
For now though, I want to see our glorious first step into a industrialized Planetos.

In related news, as a result of the earlier debate about Leilas pay, I've made a conversation with @DragonParadox, @Tomcost and @Diomedon to hash out some rough picture of our economy. Anyone who wants to join in, give me a shout.
@Azel, I'd like to join just to be witness to the conversation.
