Ugh, the North. Why are you so enticing? Stop flaunting all that first men ritual magic that we can get a hold of first if we just drop other things...

*grumbles*

[X] Azel

As always, there is a spell for that.

Depending on DP's ruling on spells from the Psychic spell list, Viserys could maybe even duplicate the minor version with Greater Shadow Enchantment.

Come on people! Conga line for the next update!

Since DP didn't answer my question, what specific type of indoctrination have in mind for our future soldiers @Azel @Diomedon ?

Would some sort of "patriotism classes" a la PRC's Army work?

Large sized artificial dragon with three heads. Made from black steel and animated by red flames burning within.

Has social skills to delivers messages for us and diplomance people a bit.

It's also immune to magic, heals from fire attacks, has a large bag of HP protected by DR and is a close combat blender. You know, for the other half of the diplomancing.

I fear this will be too intimidating for normal diplomancy... or at least some types of diplomamcy now that I think about it. We've had problems with people not taking Viserys seriously if he's not actively trying to intimidate... will make a heck of a town crier though, which I suppose was part of its purpose.

The structure and nature of the legion reinforces loyalty to the Emperor over any particular lord, land, or person (particularly if we take care to rotate senior command and legion service areas) already. Their oaths will be to Viserys, not their Lord, not their general.

We don't need to take special time to indoctrinate them. Train them well, pay them, feed them, support them in their battles (as we plan to), honor their victories and take pride in them and they will love us for it.

I kind of want to make a dragon construct guardian for Aemon at some point. Maybe one of the legion wyrmlings, maybe something bigger.

  • [X] Ask Aemon for his opinion. You will share the full knowledge with him either way, but you trust his assessment on what is and isn't safe to be left here in the open.
[X] Make a copy for the Watch
-[X] Deliver it directly to the Lord Commander, to use as he sees fit.
-[X] Warn him of how it was previously used, we would recommend that only the must trusted rangers are taught the lore, if he so wishes, he can request that we place some geas on those that are able to learn, to be sure that they wont use it in inappropriate ways.

I think Aemon has strained his vows too much already, this should have gone to the LC, if the watch should use this or not is his decision, and Aemon knows it.

Eh, the Night's Watch vows have no words on the organization or politics of the Night's Watch.

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

The bolded bits are the important ones.

Didn't DP rule it'd need some rather extravagante means of crafting? Like wishes?

DP also said that he wouldn't abstract away the binding of minor spirits for the Ravens, but he did, since a lot has happened in between.
I assumed the matter silently dropped when Lya quipped about making Viserys a Dragon, which describes the Herald, but would be a bit much to call the Wyrmlings.

And it would be kinda silly to make us go through elaborate quest-lines for a construct capable of some thought when we have two Arcanums (literally) floating around.

@DragonParadox, your ruling on that?

If you maintain that it takes Wish or deals with outsiders to make it, I would honestly prefer to redesign it as a simple combat chassis like the Wyrmlings and making a higher powered version to serve as our envoy.
Like, Huge sized at least. The first one will be Richards new mount.

Actually, what do our raven numbers look like? Do we need to make more of them?

In retrospect... yeah the arcanums have the potential to be a lot more powerful and you are not exactly hurting for stuff do quests and otherwise. No wishes of deals needed.

Part MDCLXIV: Into the Summerlands
Into the Summerlands

Twenty-Fifth Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

After listening to all sides you realize that you simply cannot make this decision, for you do not know these men. Are they heroes who would stand against the creatures of night as Harwood had done, or brigands murderers and rapists who would use any means to escape their imprisonment? The answer likely lies somewhere in the middle, and so that morning you lay the book before the eyes of a man whose judgement you trust in this and all matters.

"It is a dangerous thing for desperate men to learn, but I think a useful one nonetheless," you say after presenting what you know of the bronze book, its content, and final owner.

"It is not for me to make decisions on what weapons to use," Maester Aemon sighs.

"I see no weapon, only a book. Surely that is the business of a measter," Dany points out in jest. Then she grows more serious. "Who better then you who have served so long to know these men, uncle?"

"I trust the Lord Commander's wisdom, then, even in such a strange matter," he says after a long pause. "Men of character and good service can be selected to study this sorcery." Then he gives a quiet wheezing laugh. "Rangers, studying... Ser Alister will grumble fit to shake the stones of the rookery at the 'lost' hours."

"Do you need anything from the south?" you ask after a moment. "After all, having promised much to the Watch it would be shame to give nothing to the Black Brother I hold in highest esteem."

"In spite of my oaths, not because of them," he waves off your objections. "What I have done I do not regret even now, but I ask nothing more than that you keep writing if you can spare the time."

"Then consider this a gift to the Watch," you reply handing him a bag of fine ground dragonglass. "Through it we may converse more readily than though any letter,be it carried by the swiftest of ravens."

The old maester waves you off with a smile on his lined and weathered features and thus do you leave Castle Black that sunny morning, hands linked in a circle with friends and family that number now one more.

You gain 2267 XP

Ser Richard and Dany gain 1767 XP

You find your home just as you have left it, growing, vibrant and colorful. Though still far from the most refined of places, the new merchant district including the headquarters of your various enterprises are rising forth at the call of Xor's music, and ships of all sorts ply the waters of the port: from local fishermen to trade ships to the Hunter's Moon having finally arrived from the Basilisk Isles, its crew no doubt spreading silver and tales with equal fervor.

"It certainly looks nothing like I expected the Stepstones to be like," your mother comments, looking down at the town.

"Considering the rumors I have heard about these islands, more than half of them spoken by locals, I will take that for a compliment," you reply wryly.

What do you do next?

[] Try to hire some sellswords after all
-[] Write plan

[] Spend more time with Rhaella while she gets to know the town
-[] Write in

[] Write in

OOC: It's pretty early in the morning so you have two days free with Viserys.
