Abilities of the Frost Dragon:

Breath Weapon (Su): A frost dragon has one breath weapon—a cone of cold charged with negative energy. Creatures within the cone must not only succeed at a Reflex save to take half damage from the cold but also succeed at a Fortitude save or take 1 point of Charisma damage per age category of the dragon.

Oblivion (Su): An opponent who is killed or has his Charisma reduced to 0 by a frost dragon's breath weapon vanishes, leaving only his clothing and possessions. All memory of the victim similarly vanishes from the minds of those who knew of or met him as if he had never existed. He may not be raised, resurrected, or otherwise restored, even by means of a wish.

Ergh, my knowledge of DnD lore could fill a thimble but even I can tell this bastard was nasty.

If this is an opening salvo I'd hate to see what the blue skin cousin fuckers have in reserve.

Frostfall

Twentieth Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

In your left you draw another rod, white also but of of bone not wood, ancient beyond you knowledge and new as a serpent's blessing all at once. Again your blood falls upon the snowy ground, the only harm this battle has so far done you and ten embers bright with blood red flame spiral towards your foe.

You rake 4 damage

With frustration and a distant sort of amusement both you realize the dragon of Winter had warded itself somehow also for two of the bolts ball away off glancing off some unseen force. But eight others pierce deep, fire melting ice with with a hissing whistle that covers the beasts own roars of pain, blood red flame burning back the darkness within. Great chunks of 'flesh' break and fall off like pieces from a calving glacier and of the cold malice you had heard upon the wind not a trace remains, only desperate savagery. It's thrashing head turns to Dany and a wave of tainted icy breath descends upon her.

Dany takes 9 Damage

So swift and so sure is your sister in the air that the breath of frost hardly touches her and though the warding waver she laughs, drunk on the joy of battle and victory to come. In that laughter a single word is uttered in the tongue of the Freehold that is no more: "Sunder."

What fire did not ruin is sundered them, the ice dragon's form fling apart into a hale of ice, lost in the storm , the blackness of the void spilling out to become naught but common darkness, a final scream of rage and hate... Or is it only the howl of the wind? The snow falls on as snow is wont to do, but the shadow under the cloud is less, the chill no longer piercing bone. You had won.

"It's gone, we're safe!" Dany exclaims rushing to hug you, as much as she is able at least. You alow yourself to take human shape again, still folding her.

"A bit of ice would not have seen the end of us," you say.

"That thing was not just ice," she says. "It did not lie when it called itself born of the void eternal. It's breath would sap the very strenght of self from one unwarded, until at last their souls would just give up on being."

"They would die?" you ask, knowing there is more, there must be more.

"No," she shivers a little. "The one so drained would be lost forever, not even a memory of them remaining upon the earth, just empty clothes and the notion that there a man once was. Our foe is more that winter, no matter how savage, it is a corruption if all that is, a gapping void that screams for the End of All Things. If my wards had failed... I can't imagine it. I won't."

She draws back and you can see the fear pushed back in her gaze by sheer strength of will. "Let's see how mother is doing. I would wager she has quite a few questions..."

What do you say to Rhaella?

OOC: Yes there is loot and XP. It will be in the next update. Now that it is dead I might as well tell you, that thing was an Frost Dragon from the Bestiary of Krynn, and in some ways it makes the Gloom Dragon look harmless by comparison
.
Huh, so this Dragon could erase people from existence, essentially?

Geez, it would probably take a God to even remember who the person is, and then either a Miracle or a Wish to bring them back, if such a thing was even possible at all.
That is savage.

Edit:

Not even wish can bring these people back.
This is actually just a straight up perma kill breath, that is so fucked up.

If we have a fight against one later, and it seems really close, will we find a set of clothes on the battlefield, hinting that Viserys used to have another companion?

...

I used to QM too, see...

Holy fuck that's nasty as hell. We need to institute special protocols against fighting those kind of nasties that can deal true death like this or make things much worse on the long run.

Reality Revision, as "even by means of a wish." says.

Our first permadeath-style monster! I feel so grown up! :D

A deity could do it with Alter Reality. I refuse to accept even the idea that that ability can bypass a Divine Salient. But you'd need to be worth it to that deity as no one else would remember you.
... Mixed up the names of the abilities; that's what I meant. And you'd need a deity who remembers this mortal to be brought back.

Everyone going North for now on gets a Negative Energy Ward on an enchanted item.
Cribbed quote: 'Ring of Negative Protection from the Magic Item Compendium: 36,000gp, "You can ignore the 1d6 points of damage dealt by negative-dominant planes, such as the Negative Energy Plane, each round. You also cannot gain negative levels."'
