We might even hire Daario Naharis. I doubt he is a captain of the Stormcrows by this point, since we're 7 years before canon, so he might not even be that experienced a sellsword. Who knows, maybe he'll end up in our legions?

@DragonParadox Brandon's the White Walker tiefling, right? did his cleric friend and the Green Knight make it out ok?

A perfumer told us that an excotic perfume he sold to someone we were investigating came from a flower that grew from the spilt blood of a witch that was slain by a mighty hero in the Summer Islands.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if a few canon names pop up among our Legion officers.

Unlike sellswords, we offer steady pay and supply with top notch equipment. Most sellsword companies have reinforced leather and the occasional chainmail, while the Legion hands out Masterwork Fullplate to recruits.

Part MDCXXXVI: A Work Beyond Compare
A Work Beyond Compare

Nineteenth Day of the Twelfth Month 292 AC

"Then it would be most appreciated if you might share this lore, my lord, in your own time of course," you answer, drawing forth an elegant golden stylus and tapping it awake.

As the diminutive false-wyrm flows into its other form, Bloodraven watches with a glimmer of interest in his eye. Once it is fully formed the servitor takes to the air and presents himself in the ringing somewhat fussy voice that you wager is quite unlike what this chamber had ever witnessed. You would have done without being called Supreme Sorcerer and Archon of the Western Seas, however.

"Remarkable, a quill that writes on its own. I've known more than one clerk who would have killed for such a thing," Bloodraven rasps. "Something you recovered from the east or had made like the... ravens?"

"You disapprove?" Dany asks, surprised.

"Hardly, imitation can be flattering... and I have not quite lost all vanity even like this." Again his hand twitches as if to motion with it. You realize the small human gestures have grown more common since you arrived.

"To answer your question, my assistant here is both. We found one of his kind in the catacombs beneath a nearly dead city," you say, returning to the matter of the golden scribe. You allow another heavy coin pouch of the same girth as the one you had given to the Watch to fall upon the stone floor with a clatter. "If you would be so kind," you motion to the hovering scribe.

Lost 200 Gold

"Of course... of course..." The four of you watch in silence as it gorges itself on gold before splitting itself in two, one returning to your side and the other hovering shyly near Bloodraven.

"At least this one is honest about eating gold, much better than most scribes I've employed," the ancient sorcerer replies with a dry rattle that is probably a laugh before returning his attentions to the map.

Perhaps ten minutes later he hands it to you, improved beyond human penmanship. From the heart trees to wildling settlements to the paths of wandering tribes, ancient barrows of the forgotten dead and lost fortresses to ever winding paths that mark the comings and goings of mammoths and other large game all are marked. Small notes in the margins speak of the likely peril that might be found in each place as well as the rewards the hardy traveler may gleam.

Gained Legendary Seal-Skin Map of the Far North.

"If you enter any of the places I have marked as likely to hold servants of the Others I ask that you warn me beforehand, lest they react is some unexpected manner."

"Of course," you agree at once, as is only courteous upon receiving such a gift.

Abruptly the greenseer falls into one of his strange trances, leaving you wondering what he sees. When he wakes he speaks quickly. "My apologies your grace, but I fear something requires my full attention."

You assure him that it is no bother and pointedly do not ask what the urgent matter is. It is not in the nature of such as Bloodraven to give away all their secrets and he has been quite generous already.

What do you do next?

OOC: Good thinking about the map.

@DragonParadox we just got the super-awesome map of awesomness.

Is there any way we can get a lesser one to give to the night's watch without any bits bloodraven's wants left out?

Also, Map Get! I love getting maps.

[X] Resurrect Rhaella

I think it would be nice for Rhaella, a Valyrian Dragonlord just as the rest of us are by blood, to be around when Dragon Lore is spoken of.
Plus, I really want to see the wonderful family reunion, and it will let poor @DragonParadox write a character scene instead of yet more exposition :V

I thought we were aiming for dragonlore first so we can ask about Summerhall? You know, where most of our mother's family died, while she traumatically gave birth to her now dead son Rhaegar?

No, they are not "pretty good". Well-equipped? Compared to rags and pitchforks, mallets, axes, etc. Yes. They are.

But they are not trained like a respectable standing army should be. They follow leaders, who enact a plan, and then proceed to focus on either personal battles until the death of all key commanders and figureheads on the other side, or like Tywin and Stannis, sit in the back of the army, fight only when absolutely necessary, and continue to direct reserves as the fighting progresses.

There is no unit structure beyond "guys in shiny armor are to be obeyed, if enough guys in shiny armor die, break/surrender".

Though you do raise a good point, why on earth do westerosi lords equip their levies so well but only give decent military training to their Household Guards, Knights and other minor nobles at best? Why are all strategies contingent on certain figureheads looking important and vigorous and fighting the other vigorous and important looking figureheads?

We're going to chew up these poor bastards with our small unit organization and a robust command structure. I guarantee it.

The Westerosi armies are comprised of thousands of heavily armoured knights, Good archers, and infantry with at least mail and even blocks of pikes. They are better than most shit in Planetos.

Frankly, I would bet on a Westerosi army over anything on Essos in canon. Nothing, I have seen from Essos has ever impressed me. They are fucking threatened by savages with no strategic and tactical sense, no armour, who use fucking Araks, the most useless shit for fighting anyone who is in armour.

And, The less said about slavers bay the better.

As for our future legions? I mostly agree, as long as we can deal with the knights.

Edit : I don't know shit about how DND does battles.

No, guys, just no.
All questions we have first, then asking for dragonlore, how to hatch dragon eggs, then asking CotF to come with us in SD, and only then rezzing mommy dearest.
She's going to be a one of a fuck of a distraction to all characters and we'll lose on something we wanted to do simply because in-character little else will matter for Viserys and Danny.

[X] Ask more questions
-[X] Ask of how to safely hatch dragon eggs and where more eggs might be found.
--[X] Ask if Bloodraven knows specifically what caused Summerhall, and if he can provide any advice to avoid the same mistakes.
-[X] What Targaryen heirlooms does Bloodraven know of, be they in Dragonstone, Summerhall, or the Red Keep? Just as the lands Beyond the Wall have the Builder's Anchor, are there any magics in the ancestral Targaryen holdings? Any sealed artifacts? What of in Raventree Hall?
-[X] Is there anything special in Dragonstone specifically? The Painted Table?
-[X] Ask if he knows anything of the properties of dragonsteel. You've come into possession of a considerable amount of it over the course of your efforts to keep the world from being overrun, and you have some vague notions of the properties and forging/reforging methods through echoes of memory in your blood and through observation and experience, but it's a far thing from actual mastery of the subject. Perhaps in his long years Bloodraven has learned something you have not? (Known: Valyrian Steel is heated in dragonbreath and quenched in fiendsblood, and also the blood of lots and lots of slaves. It can only be reforged in blood. It is smoky grey-black in color. It always holds its edge. It corrodes at all other metals. It has a special affinity for fire enchantments, and with armor it can be used to shrug lesser spells off. Great spikes of Valyrian Steel were used to harness the power of the Fourteen Fires.).
-[X] Why exactly did the dragons just get smaller and die out? It's been whispered that the Dragonpit is cursed. Is there any truth to that? It was built on the ashes of the Sept of Remembrance, and you've recently learned that the gods are all real...
-[X] Ask about the gods of Old Valyria, what their domains were, what they demanded of their followers, etc.
-[X] I'm sure you've noticed by now, but we have our own demiplane. This demiplane has a dracolich bound within it, serving as some sort of power source for the wards. Unfortunately it does not like being bound and has made the transport of the demiplane difficult. Can you help us find the phylactery so we can get rid of it?

Lets get mommy in on the dragon-lore. Also, can we give the egg to her? The Velaryon girl is a bit too... meh for me to like, I also don't want to elevate their house that much, lest they become too ambitious for their own good.

ok changed my mind, moms beend dead for 7 years, she can be dead for another day or w/e

Ideally I'd prefer this for all Valyrian Lore, and then one last round of questions to learn about how precisely Bloodraven wants us to beat the Seven (and we definitely don't want Rhaella to witness that conversation).

After that I can stomach sacrificing the rest of the questions even if I'd personally prefer not to.

No, bad idea. @Crake already touched on this earlier.

Rhaella was witness to the Summerhall Disaster. In an attempt to hatch dragon eggs, most of the royal family died, leaving Rhaella and Aerys as the sole survivors.

Asking about dragonlore in front of her will unnecessarily panic her.

don't mean to double post, but @Duesal didnt bloodraven tell us that he and the OG dont know shit about valyria? Asking those would just be silly

Oh, yeah, I can see how that would be... problematic. Still don't want the Valeryons to have dragons though.

Also, changing vote to:
