Considering how the Old Gods have already set the precedent of giving him spell slots and otherwise enhancing him, it would have been very thematically appropriate if the staff added a Domain spell or two to his actual spell list or something, while equipped. He wouldn't be the first character to get cleric spell-like abilities from equipment, even if it's not strictly class-appropriate.

And if not that, the Children couldn't have woven some sort of robe or cloak for him to give him some boost or spell-like ability? Or, as above, extra spells per day?

Honestly, It was jarring to see Bloodraven give the PC the Long-Awaited-Quest-Item only to immediately tell him it's not for him but a party member that's not even present.

Doubly so when it's a character that's linked to a different god entirely, as @Azel points out below.

Thing is, the staff is rather nice, though the Plant Walk feature is something that might as well not be on an item instead of a general Weirwood ability we unlocked for all the difference it makes. It's a purely strategic thing, especially with requiring sacrifice to use safely.
But yeah. Getting a gift for Vee, who isn't even here and is mostly associated with another god, is kinda... disappointing.

Edit: On top of that, it always kinda feels like we are second-rate allies to the Old Gods and the one we are playing second fiddle to is a 4 year old girl in Winterfell.

Basically this. @DragonParadox, Dark Sister is one thing, but we were all really hoping for that weirwood staff for Viserys. That would have really cemented our alliance with the Old Gods. Hell, Bloodraven even claims this will seal the alliance:
"But come you did not trek this far to hear an old man's regrets. Take up that which is yours by right... and that which seals the pact with the Gods."
And it turns out Viserys literally can't wield it. You might justify it with "Viserys doesn't need a weapon" but you can't deny how thematic it would have been, as well as how odd it is that Vee who isn't even here is the one who gets that staff.

OK, you guys have all made good points. Re-writing. That's what I get for using magic items designed years ago.

[X] Duesal
Bloodravens wits are sharp and his tongue harsh but true. I do love how he treats the Old Gods like a army of three stooges given divine power that are also raving old war veterans.

Thing is less that the item is bad, it isn't. It's just that we made an Avatar for Yss and Vee is still wearing his belt. Now having the sign of our pact with the Old Gods going to her too is... kinda frustrating...

To me, this is about respect for what we did for them, not about a nice weapon or powerful item.

Alright, turns out I can use computers in this class. Here's a plan for the next set of questions. If anyone notices any questions on the List that would fit in this theme feel free to point it out and I'll add it in. As is I think this might already be too much for a single update.

[X] Sacrifices & Enemies & Wildfire
-[X] Talk about the Landwarden & Lich in Lys and how best to safely sacrifice them both and permanently end the threat they represent. Ask if the Old Gods might be willing to work with the Merling King and Yss in so great a sacrifice.
-[X] Ask of any other grave threats that Bloodraven has become aware of, threats that we would be interested in putting an end to.
-[X] Talk to him about your recent truce with the Deep Ones and your battle with Devils in White Harbor, and also about how the Devils attempted to assassinate Renly Baratheon during your parlay with the man, which would have forever tarnished your image had you succeeded.
-[X] Further elaborate on the Renly situation in general, on what Renly is, and on what agreements you've come to with him and what you resolve to do.
-[X] Now that it's safe to do so, ask about the Wildfire in King's Landing. How unstable is it? How do we move it? Could the Old Gods move it with a potent enough sacrifice? Where does Wildfire originate and how is it made? We know that Aerys brought the Alchemist's guild from Volantis, but what about before that?
-[X] Would it be possible to transfer all the Wildfire in King's Landing to the City of the Deep Ones to wipe them off the face of the plane? How would we go about doing that?
-[X] What does Bloodraven know of the "Deceiver"? What does he know of the Doom? You've had this vision of the Doom: "That night you dream of Valyria and its fall, disjointed flashes of sorrow, pain and terror and at the end of it all green flame and a vast booming thunder that almost sounds like the mocking laughter of some titanic beast." What exactly did you see? The connection with Wildfire is... concerning.
-[X] As a followup, ask if he knows what caused Summerhall.
-[X] Inquire if he knows anything of Valyrian lore, or dragonlore. You've come into possession of a dragon's egg and you're preparing to start hatching it, and you'd like to avoid a Summerhall incident.

Looks like we're hitting large scale threats next. I'd go for either Tiamat and Blackfyre link after that (continue the Essosi threats chain), or for Westerosi information.

I think Tiamat is big enough and personal enough to warrant her own update. I was thinking of pairing all questions about her with the dracolich questions as well as Illyrio Mopatis & Blackfyre questions. And also lore about True Dragons and whatever history Bloodraven might know about proto-Valyria.

This is highly impolitic. We are straight up assuming they won't be able to handle it.

At least, that's how they will see it.
Fortunately for us Bloodraven told us the gods aren't listening, and even if they were I doubt they'd care much. If it turns out that they can handle this all on their own they'll tell us as much. But I'll make some changes to that part anyway.

I'd like some more mention to nuking the Illithid capital.

Moving the wildfire is one thing. Moving it into a highly defended, hostile location is another.

OK ret-con done, it's still not a weapon, because you do not need one, but it will be useful to Viserys.

Very nice, DP. I like how it's a tool, and a very effective one, without needing to be a powerful weapon as well.

BTW, the link you included in the chapter goes to the Command spell rather than Commune With Nature.

Commune with Nature is very nice. It has a good number of uses. The most immediate one is we can take a single day to go visit Port Sorrow ourselves and use it to do that survey we put off (and finally meet that Inn lady ourselves, which should happen), but the scanning for the general state of nature, scanning for powerful unnatural creatures, and people who are out and about would give us a lot of information about the state of our islands outside of the settlements.
