  • [X] Fly around the Wall and seek passage by magic
    [X] Seek passage at Eastwatch
-[X] Introduce yourselves as friends of the watch, you have heard of their troubles and are here to inspect their state by yourself. You will later provide them with weapons to better fulfill their duty depending on what you see.
-[X] You also wish to ask them for safe passage north of the wall, to see for yourself what they are facing, what we are all facing, the lands north of the wall might reveal something new to someone more versed in the arcane arts.
    [X] Azel

To be honest I have no interest in spending our valuable time trying to convince a group filled mostly with criminals of our good intentions when we have things of actual import that needs doing. When we're coming back sure, not before not when we have other perfectly valid options.

Mostly this.

We a due to stop by Castle Black anyway.

And they need food and wool more than they need swords, IIRC.

We are going to send them some weapons, it's easy to fabricate a few dozen swords, and that would be a good gift for the watch.

Whether we give them more is up for debate.
There's no question that we're sending weapons, we've got the infrastructure being built and everything. But promising aid and weapons should happen when we're in Castle Black, not in Eastwatch.

That's the equivalent of pledging to aid a kingdom when you visit one of their watchtowers rather than pledging aid before the king's court.

Still too close to call?

@TotallyNotEvil, by the way, I've already got a question about the wildfire, what to do with it, how to move it, etc.

Does any one else have any questions to add? We are super close to seeing Bloodraven and we've got to think of everything before we face him.

And this is why we end up on tangents and side quests. Y'all can't resist poking stuff. That's fine, but remember that the next time you start to get salty about never getting anything done.

Should we be concerned that the wall to hold back ice monsters is made of ice? :p
 I think there's enough First Men runes in the Wall that we don't have to worry about that.

You're right, but, Viserys needs a map. Sure, he has the Wayfinder, but he needs to know what he's looking for and he needs it to not be warded when he looks for it. Remember when we got lost in the swamps of Braavos? That was fun, wasn't it?

You do know we don't need a map with Wayfinder, right?
We're wasting at least a day.
*salt*

I thought he was really old as in maybe the Night King old.

Most fans considered Cold Hands to be Benjen Stark, who likely skinchanged into his own undead body to regain control of it, due to the timing and descriptive language shared between the two. If that is the case, then we are indeed too early to meet Cold Hands.

Edit: And as to the value of the map, it provides context as to the relative positions of landmarks. Lay of the Land gives us nearby landmarks, but a large area map lets us put that landmark into relative context.
