  • [X] Attack to kill
-[X] Viserys uses Assay Spell Resistance on the Maenad, then targets her with Freezing Glance.
-[X] Tyene targets the Maenad with Boneshatter if Viserys' spell is unsuccessful.
-[X] Richard charges, making a Battle Leader's Charge as part of the attack, while Waymar closes in order to use a Shocking Grasp spell.
-[X] Azeema watches for other attackers.

No reason to memory wipe.

Edit: Unless we say something really stupid to them.
No reason not to memory wipe. I just think the idea of leaving them stranded in Molten Skies with no clue where the hell their ship went is hilarious.:rofl::rofl: Also, using the moss on them will let Vee, Tyene, and Waymar work out the kinks in properly using the moss.

Yeah, I guess. I wonder how much Memory Moss we can harvest.

We really need that Greenhouse Godswood. Bonus points if we get a collection of Vegepygmies to take care of it. Or a Dryad. Or Leshys. Or maybe that Giant Flytrap.
We can probably buy the seeds for most of those the next time we visit Molten Skies. Barring a bad roll I can't imagine they wouldn't have everything.

Excluding the Flytrap Plant, we got access to all of those things already. The Vegepygmies probably require sentient sacrifice at the Memory Moss, the Leshys can already be crafted by Vee, and we already ahve the Dryad.

And I intend to ask from the Old Gods some seeds for the Silver Bells.

Hmmmm.... For Vegepygmies if we have an extra Maenad at the end of this we can definitely toss it at the memory moss for sacrifice. But for the Dryad I wasn't counting the one we have because I wanted to bond it to Queen Rhaella. Magical fey ship, how cool would that be?

Also, yes. We should totally ask the Old Gods for some Silver Bells.

I have a mad idea. Let's talk before we start killing. Unless she's lying to us, no-one else is dying to her sisters atm*

We could ask um, well. I don't think we want anything. Basically, my 'ehhh-ness' comes from a lack of understanding of this god's theology. Does the raping, killing and cannibalism be a regular thing, or is it induced only as divine punishment?

"The information I have is that you and yours have attacked the port that I was going to conquer this evening. I am in no way inclined to give your sisters back to you for the trade of you not dying to us now. Explain to me the nature of the Blasphemy**, and I will consider releasing your sisters to you, if we can reach a fair accord in this matter."

Let's see what knowledge we can get. Provided this isn't a trap, we lose little for it.

If the god does the evil shit as a matter of course, enemy god, as per usual. If in response to blasphemy... ehh, we might be able to not bother having to kill it in the future, provided it's standards aren't alien in a way that comes across as silly.

If someone cracked open a case of the special wine, it should be the person who decided that the special wine should be used. The nice part is that some of the players genuinely were planning to replace the alcohol, to avoid this sort of situation.

*Also, if the Maenads had a quota of death to cause, we... probably haven't saved any lives, as apparently, they're done. - Re-reading the update, it looks to be a vague "punishment" with little boundaries or such (makes sense) so we probably saved lives. Yay!

**Who knows, maybe the god is super chill when not hacked off.

Sorry for the rambling, but I didn't notice any diplomacy ideas being promoted, so I felt vaguely obliged to try.

If any of what she says shows incompatibility, then we [X] Goldfish the bitch. Viserys wants nice boots.

I fully expect to kill and loot all these Maenad's HD for powah, but at least we can say we tried to not piss off a god the first time we interact with it's servant's/children.

Edit: Oh, vote closed. Well, she's mad as part of her nature. We kill things that harm others in their madness, if we can't heal them. And I don't think a heart's ease is gonna cut it on this one :p

Magical Pacifist ship. No thanks. Make it flying, that's better.
o_O Our precious flagship a pacifist?

Okay, let's ask Yss if the dryad would still be a pacifist once bound to the warship. If yes, then we laugh and give up on the idea. If no, then we ask more questions to cover whatever other problems might crop up, like how willing she'd be to obey orders, etc etc.
Chaotic Evil. Not trusting her with anything.
Pretty much this. I wouldn't even trust her to leave us alone if we gave her her sisters back.

The last boon we got from the Old God's was 5k death magic reagents. Human remains. A rather shitty boon. I want boots (unlikely to get snazzy ones from the fey/spirit hivemind god-like thing), or passive bilgestone purification emanating from the heart tree, so we don't have to bother.

I'll point out that we learned of the partial ritual from the Shield-Archon, not Yarel, so it may be worth consulting him about it, so we don't have Lya and Vee (and probably Dany) reinventing the wheel internal-combustion engine.

Also, we got Bhamut's name form the shield archon, so if we ever decide to pull on that string again, Yarel could be a quickly checked source, if he can tell us anything more than the archon equivalent of a fighter.

Hey, those 5K in enchanted bones would have been a boon in Molten Skies if we hadn't been swindled out of it by that goddamn fey (may she burn in hellfire). But that aside, I'm really not sure how we ask the Old Gods for specific boons other than what we get with the tree.

You're forgetting that we need Dany and Lya to learn Yrael's Good spells. Dany needs to branch out. And I also want to see if they still don't need Braavosi administrators to help them out.

Well i did not make it to the vote, i wonder if she could have offered anything for her sisters, this is not our city and we did nothing against her god (before tonight that is).
Its only fair that she should offer us something more than "leave the city" in exchange for our loot.

She's the daughter of the lord of madness. I wouldn't hedge my bets on her treating fairly with us.

It was not about fairness, It was about letting her now that her negotiation skills suck, and we are getting something out of this she likes It or not.
But you are right, she might just start chucking the turtles at us once we give them back.

Part MCCLVII: Savage Swiftness
Savage Swiftness

Thirtieth Day of the Eight Month 292 AC

The very thought of giving in to this murderous thing's threats makes you sick to your stomach, thus you give it no other answer than spells of ruin. No sooner had the first word of the incantation passed your lips that the Maenad moves forward with impossible swiftness and strikes you... once... twice, not with claw or fang, but as a sort of hideous caress, the lightest touches ripping the very life from your flesh. With each blow her pale flesh grows more luminous, her cloak a bright and bloody banner. Then as swiftly as she had come she darts away, wild, mocking laughter ringing in the air.

You take 69 damage

Somehow your mind stays fixed upon the words of power, two spells woven together to bind the thing in place and still its dreadful dance. Yet she meets you icy gaze with defiance, her movements sure and swift. As Waymar advances on the monster in the guise of a woman, Tyene utters a cruse of sundering to no effect it seems, save perhaps dimming of the horrid light within it... The spark of stolen life, you realize, struggling to stand.

You heal 6 Damage

Waymar calls on the blessing of skyfire, but lightning-kissed bronze seems painfully slow compared to the creature's otherworldly grace. "Fools..." Whatever aught she had meant to say remains unsaid as the Valeman takes advantage of her distraction to cut at her shoulder... drawing but a single drop of blood.

Almost contemptuously she whirls aside from Ser Richard's lunging attack. The savage laughter rings out again.

What do you do?

[] Write in plan

OOC: I will say this much about your enemy: Waymar needed a nat 20 to hit it with his secondary iterative attack (Viserys noticed IC that it was a very lucky hit). Also it has spring attack and seems to be hasted.

Okay, we're currently in Medium Halfdragon form, so that gives us 102 HP.

After the damage we took and what we healed from using arcane spells we're currently at 39 HP.

And the Maenad's used 2 of her 3 Vampiric Touch SLAs for the day, so that at least is a cold comfort.
You know what would be nice to have here?

Black Tentacles
:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Anyway, what's our likelihood of hitting her with a targeted Dispel to get rid of that Haste? Once that's gone we'll have a slightly easier time of not being danced around.

Also, @DragonParadox, everyone in our party is hasted, right?
