So are we going with the idea of having Azema arrange a dinner for all the important officials, then capturing them all in one fell swoop?

Either way, before anything I want Azema to give us the run-down of everyone important on this island, what they do, and why they were sent here into pseudo-exile. Should come in handy in the near future.

Yeah, the dinner idea is still good. We should determine how many days away by sail we are (I'm expecting 2-3) as well. We want to capture as many ships currently in port as possible (all of them, if we can manage it), and I don't think we can hold both the land, and hunt ships all by ourselves.

agreed. Information is power.

Same.

@DragonParadox can you answer this OOC? The who's who of Westhaven? How many ships, of which kind, are in port right now?

Maybe get a few more party members for the land (just the one day) and we guard the harbor.

Yeahhhh, so killing them might not be the fastest way to gain adminsatrative control of the city.

I honestly don't see how Azemas work can be easily used to implement the balance beteeen hands off that we need and proplerly freeing slaves. If we aren't... Conetesious of the various reaction;, poisioning, slavers fleeing with their cargo, (and ships!), we will have a fair few problems :/

That might work, but we'd still be trying to keep order on 2500 people. We'll want our fleet to pop up with soldiers to actually impose our orders for us rather soon afterwards.

@DragonParadox actually, I'll just ask since it's something we'd know, how many days would it take for our fleet to sail to Westhaven from SD?

...also, I just realized we sent Vee teleporting without a buddy. I mean, SD is pretty unique and familiar, but it's not the best practice.

She has Versatile Spellcaster and Alter Fortune, plus SD is as familiar a destination as she'll ever have. She should be safe.

Hm... arranging a feast under false pretenses while preparing something very special for the guests...
Why does that sound so familiar?

Oh. Right.

Shall I prepare a proper speech?

I fear that we don't have the time or the resources to do this quick without invoking Tyrosh's attacks. We need to lay it cautious, don't openly say that we own the city, and plot to take over Tyrosh.

I say that we organize that dinner on a ship, and we suddenly appear and go: "Nice to meet you! Now all of you belong to me. Be prepared for when I take over Tyrosh please"

For the dinner, we have two options, which aren't exclusive:
1) Use our honking diplo to convert them to our cause
2) Kill them all, or those that refuse.

What if we ask Azema to comandeer a galley and block the harbor, sinking the ship.

Or give pech waterbreathing and tell them to raise a stonewall...

Or just plain sinking the ships, we can Raise from the Deep when needed. Decapitating strike against all officers sounds like a good simultaneous move with that.

Edit:

  1. VotD+AoN dinner guests into causing a slave revolt.
  2. Lay in wait until Tyrosh sends reinforcement.
  3. Capture all the ships.

I prefer knocking them out, and then the ones we consider not utterly terrible examples of humanity we diplomance as they awake into a situation where we hold all the cards. It'll be much easier (and quieter) to kill them upon refusal if they're already bound. If we wanted, we could just imprison them for awhile, even. We'd have tasty options.

We can demonstrate Baleful Polymorph on the ones that refuse, and leave them one day like that, until they stop refusing.

We should just gather the entire populace of the island, then using the full weight of our VotD + AoN enhanced Diplomacy along with Dany's imbued Clarion Call spell, present our case; join and prosper as loyal free men and women, or face the consequences for failing to hold the island when we send them back to Tyrosh.

What about we have Azema goad the head honcho into calling as many ships he has the ability to call in order to "impress his girl", and then we organize a dinner with all captains and officials?

This. This is the plan we should go with.

Then, we ambush the dinner, make it clear how utterly helpless they all are, then diplomance them all into serving us. And then we quickly figure out which ones are too unwilling to part with slavery and hang them on our Heart Tree.

@DragonParadox, what can Azema tell us about the people in charge here? Their hopes, dreams and motivations.
Do they revere Old Valyria? Are they in it for the money alone? Are they loyal or is this the tyroshi equivalent of being transfered to Alaska?

We have a policy of 'mortal death for mortal crimes' so we wouldn't freak out sorcerers deep when we first got it, our friends are happier for it too.

Also was the thing that convinced Maelor we're an ok guy. "You sacraficed the priest, but hanged the slavers"

Loved that line :)

This is Tyroshi Alaska and the men here are little different from other pirates in the Stepstones, other than being a bit more discerning about who they rob.

Yep. Sacrifice is reserved for evil monsters and demon consorts. I'm a bit sad we haven't had the chance to raid another Sahuagin village. We could totally use that "trading" Heart Tree with Hearts Ease and Tongues in the town square of Sorcerer's Deep. If that doesn't make the economy boom I don't know what will.

EDIT: Wait. @BeepSmile, hanging on the Heart Tree is just normal execution. I don't know why you were thinking it was sacrifice, but it isn't. That's how we've been having all our normal executions since we grew the tree. As far as I know, sacrifice itself comes when we grow the tree.

To be fair, given the scale and nature of his crimes, having his soul devoured by the Old Gods was perfectly proportional for his deeds.
Slavers merely act upon the flesh and minds of their victims while he denied many of them even the afterlife.

One can have the whole death penalty debate about this, but it's clear that he went above and beyond mere murder and thus so might the punishment.
