@Azel
Current Assets:

Liquid assets: 2460 (initial treasury) + 14541 (profit from Volantis auction) = 17001 Gold
Heirloom Volantine Emeralds (which we spent 1000 Gold on but are worth quite a bit more)
Iron Bank Deposit: 4000 Gold
Blessed Bones: 5000 Gold
Wink Broach x 1 (Dany's, and only because it doesn't stack with VotD) -- 120 Gold
Box of Enspelling Melodies -- Value Unknown
Rings of Opening -- 8000 Market Price, (probably need to craft a 1200 silencing item to go along with it because it's too loud, so devalued to 6800)
Ring of Protection from Good -- 800 Gold, but should fetch considerably more in MS
Assumed +1 Anarchic Longspear -- 3600 Gold
Total Assets: 17001 + 5000 + 16320 = 38321 Gold

Dark Sun Dagger (unknown enchantment)
Mallor's Longspear (unknown enchantment)
Cultist Champion's War Scythe (unknown enchantment)
+1 longsword from the Slave-Captain Guard of R'hllor (unknown enchantment)
+1 fire-enchanted longsword from the demon we iced when we fought the Naga
2 Valyrian Steel Axes
2 Valyrian Steel Longswords
7 Valyrian Steel Daggers

Now, @Azel, here's everything you've thought of for your magic compass:
Circle Dance compass is actually just 1200 IM in local currency and 600 IM in Molten Skies.
We could immediately add Lay of the Land (50 miles reach) for another 1600 / 800 IM.
For Locate Object with 440 ft. / 130m reach, we need 800 / 400 IM.
Locate Animal or Plant has 5 miles reach and costs another 800 / 400 IM.

So the Greater Compass of Finding costs 4,400 / 2,200 IM total and is pretty much everything we know and love from a RPG mini-map.
If we want to be frugal we can decide which enchantments are best saved for later so we can get the cheaper price in Molten Skies. For example, Locate Plant or Animal can probably wait.

I would rather do the full thing. We might luck out and Lya crits some additional features in.
Alright, I'll follow your lead on this.

Add in another 1200 cost for 6 new pendragons and we're looking at liquid assets of 11401.

And that's before we go in the Sellsword's War and drive out the Mindflayers. I'm feeling pretty good about this turn.

EDIT: Also, if we're hoping for a Lya crit, do you want Dany to be ready with Alter Fortune?

If 1000 Gold is (stated by DP when we gave that much to Hermantia in exchange for her emeralds) "enough to purchase a small keep," I think several hundred should be just fine for hiring and equipping a few hundred men. Keep in mind that this is the perfect place to blood our Minotaur shock troops and let Ser Richard gain the boost he needs for level 10.

As for emergency funds in general, I think keeping 1000-3000 Gold in reserve should be enough?

Does the Iron Bank do investment banking? Ie, do we get interest?
If we really have more gold than we know what to do with, send Relath 1000gm as a gift ... or bribe the dracolich with a hoard.

Edit: Is there an Alter Self form (we know of) Ser Richard would profit from? If yes, that's another item for the crafting pile.

I don't think they do... If they did then we would have gone for that while we were in Braavos instead of just keeping 4000 IM uselessly sitting in their vaults.

No sharing our gold! :rage::rage::rage:

By the way. Since it was discussed last night that the amount of chatter has gone up a lot, I've run the stat grabber again and added the number of posts between each update.
As the last time, all values are the average number of unique posters, unique voters and now posts between threadmarks, grouped in 25 clusters.

Conclusion: Spam.

Btw, @DragonParadox, if you ever need an extra pair of hands in beta'ing I'd be happy to help. I have a lot of experience with editing stories.

The only reason I didn't offer before was because we live in near-opposite time zones, but now it's summer and I'm awake in the dead hours of the night anyway.

Part MCIV: The Sound of Hammers in the Deep
The Sound of Hammers in the Deep

Twentieth Day of the Fourth Month 292 AC

Strange how much work throwing coin at people can be, you think with wry humor as you straighten up from another day of looking over proposals for new workshops, fisheries and even inns and taverns... anything that will make the Deep less a den of outlaws that exists at the convenience of the major powers that surround it. You have an inkling that such matters are not usually the business of the king, but considering the sheer amount of coin this will take, it is vital that you not throw it into the gutter.

Being honest, you could have left more of the business to Allinor and her clerks yet... too clearly however do you remember the feverish gaze of a king consumed with grandeur, unwilling or unable to deal with the reality of his schemes. Well, as Aerys Second of his Name taught, you, his heir... all unknowing.

The town beyond the wavy glass of your study window looks busier than is its wont, the harbor filled with ships bearing for once not plunder but lumber and stone, as well as skilled craftsmen from the Free Cities, particularly Pentos. You had given orders that no slaves be bought for the task, for you will not see your gold line some slaver's pockets, however slavery does not technically exist in that city following its defeat by Bravos centuries ago... Far from an ideal situation, but you would rather the captains bend your orders in that direction than any other... such as making themselves lost gold and all. They had been well chosen it seems from among your original Braavosi crews and the locals in equal measure.

The work that that will be done over the next few months may as well be rebuilding the town from the foundations upwards with more wider main roads made from stone and less roof access for enterprising rogues, though knowing your subjects you suspect that will soon change. You might even see some taxes for your largesse eventually... the first time in history, like as not when the word did not stand for brigandage and robbery sanctioned from on high.

Lost 2500 Gold

The Deep has begun an economic boom

Population growth enhanced

What do you wish to see next?

OOC: Both projects will happen concomitantly. This is just about which one you guys want to see first. What the Azer told you will be added to the front page soon, mostly background information.

[X] A House for the Serpent

@DragonParadox, a few questions:

1. Can we just give Aeybs the necessary gold for more dragonpens so he can make them this turn? We voted that we'd get back to him after reevaluating our treasury, and now we have more than enough gold.
2. We've had Leila with the necessary spell and feat to craft a barrel of purification, and we have the necessary ingredients just sitting around. Can we have her craft that this turn?
3. Will you allow us to do the Sellsword war before going north? We were hoping to get Ser Richard enough XP to push him to level 10, and to give Lya enough time to craft Azel's compass before we have to go Mindflayer hunting.
4. Can we also upgrade the Seeker this turn? Preferably before we go Mindflayer hunting. :p

  1. I'll put in the next vote
  2. Yes
  3. The Point Houses have more urgent need of your aid than the Free Cities so that order does not work very well IC.

Anyone going Mindflayer hunting should have a PfE amulet.

Fair enough. But would we have enough time to have Lya craft Azel's compass? Here are all the enchantments we wanted on there:
Circle Dance compass is actually just 1200 IM in local currency and 600 IM in Molten Skies.

Nice to see all the gold we made is being put to good use and it will be worth the nobles scorn.

After the sellsword war though they will learn to fear us even more.
