Not just time travelers, which we now are, but also anything that makes heavy use of Divination. We abuse Divination so hard that there is a department of our government specifically devoted to it.Something that pops out of corners of reality to eat time-travelers who are high as hell on drugs.
Blame the C'thulhu Mythos, not me.

We're definitely having a run in with these things at some point. Not just time travelers, which we now are, but also anything that makes heavy use of Divination. We abuse Divination so hard that there is a department of our government specifically devoted to it.

I would rather they simply not exist in our setting. We're not the only ones who make heavy use of Divination, after all, and having Planetos end up infested by these things would be a huge pain in the ass. We're definitely having a run in with these things at some point.
Maybe they're on the leash of something that's got grander plans? As annoying as they could be, they're still CR 7. Not exactly the top of the totem pole.I was going to point that out. I originally was posting about the Mythos version of the hound, but the entry in the SRD says that we should be plagued by them.

It is warded. They can likely pop inside the House of Mirrors and carry our diviners through the edges of reality to who knows where.
We need to make that place teleportation-proof if it is not already.
You are talking about stalking people through the streets of a city where this is in charge. With invisible teleporting terminators who have constant True Sight. A highly militarized secret police with mages. Legions of elite soliders are one gate away. And aforementioned ruler considers other dragons just one many of its regular minions, to balance out the regular private citizens, some of which can tear a man in half if they move the wrong way at the wrong time on accident.Well, that explains why those guys are still alive
Although I don't know it they will get tracked to their homes. A pity that we are discussing this openly because it has a good omake potential.

This is not a good place for horrors to go hunting.
This reminds me what exactly is our conquering literary again? I mean I know Westeros is first but is Qohor next? Or is that Slaver's bay? And are we waiting on Qarth till before or after the later now that we have the warlock's deal?I'm actually just waiting for research slots to open up so that we can install some Serpentstone recorders.
As for Qohor, yeah. The moment we get it, I'm going to design something that will mainly survive on a steady diet of infiltrators.
Home defense will be a big industry, then.Which is irrelevant if the thing comes out from under your bed to eat you and go back. We are talking about normal citizens having to survive a couple rounds against those things. They would be hunted long term. Short term, it would be a massacre.
To be clear Oberyn did not call the most favored of his sister's suitors Breakwind because he wanted to seduce him.
No Viserys is just a powerful dragon that will be the mind/will of the Stillborn God...Sure, and Viserys is actually a dragon god in disguise.
....wait....
No Viserys is just a powerful dragon that will be the mind/will of the Stillborn God...
What do you mean by "that's just being a dragon god with extra steps" ?
Now now we don't call it extra steps
We call it long form application and triplicate.
*Lawful Neutral Intensifies*
Ah, the Dagoth Ur dilemma.
*When someone fights Viserys and he still has Clerics*
I noticed that part of the spell, too, but my thoughts on the possible uses went in a different direction than yours. I was considering weaponizing it as an anti-Void effect. Either to weaken its power in a given area or to maybe even repair long-term damage, such as the Void-hole in the Celestial Planes. It's a bit of an aside, but I wasn't logged in during the discussion about magical doomsday prepping and wanted to point out a research path the future imperium might take.
The spell that Rhaella just took, music of the spheres, is described as functioning be reinforcing the laws of reality and interplanar connections. Of course you need access to magic in the first place to cast it, and it's not exactly strong enough to just brush off a cataclysm, but there are still some interesting options.
In the distant future Imperial researchers could start on rebuilding the spell into something focused on reinforcing planar connections in a way that supports magic, and then pass off the results to the fleshforges.
From that point they could create something optimized to constantly cast the spell, and rig it up with a Nail of Blood variant. A NB allows the caster to cast in a dead magic zone one time per spell level they know, and then trade stamina for additional uses up to their normal limits.
The end result being immense flesh-engines eternally singing the music underlying reality in order to hold enough of the world together to allow for magic to exist. Which is so fucking metal it might just work.![]()
INB4 Rhaella shreds the void with an artifact axe while standing over the ruins of mount celestia with a bodyguard of steel furies singing in chorus with her.I noticed that part of the spell, too, but my thoughts on the possible uses went in a different direction than yours.
