I don't think you need to worry about rewriting the interlude,@DragonParadox. I agree that it could have been a simple oversight from the House of Mirrors not asking the best set of questions in their Divination efforts.

The Teleportation Circle wasn't used for any nefarious purpose, so wasn't detected beforehand. The reasoning is sound, IMO, and is the kind of oversight that I can easily believe someone would make. Lesson learned, let's send a strongly worded memo to the House of Mirrors to adjust their protocols to account for non-hostile travelers.

Frankly, I'm not happy with our intelligence constantly fucking this up. We have plenty of reasons to check for unauthorised Teleports.

Off topic, but any Metal fans here should check out the latest Unleash the Archers album, Abyss. I've mentioned them in the thread before, but their last two albums have just been amazing. They tell a story that stretches across both albums.

I could listen to this song on a loop for hours without getting tired of it.

In Garin's defence he is currently in a shadow war with literal devils. Him being distracted is par for the course. Hopefully with best Uncle we can lighten the load.
Brynden is still busy, and ultimately the Lord Inquisitor title is just temporary (eventually permanent) justification for his having access to restricted areas and to restricted resources/assets.

So it doesn't really mean much. He's not constantly piloting his Praetorian body around, only when he needs to go on a walk to talk to someone or do something personally.

Seconding. I would like a tighter ship with our intelligence. Garin has been dropping the ball lately.
We keep Garin pretty busy lately, so what little time he actually spends in SD is probably trying to get some time with his wife and the triplets.

Yeah, this seems like something Bloodraven would excel at.

EDIT: Then again, as @Crake pointed out, he is also very busy himself.

Edits done, they came on phantom steeds and were intercepted by wyverns and directed to land at Westheaven. Vote's he same.
Gotta admit, I do like the changes to the interlude.

Very interesting dichotomy, them flying in on their majestic and no doubt high level Phantom Steeds, looking cool and regal, then they're surrounded by a flight of the same murder machines folks probably saw blasting Prismatic Drakes out of the air from the walls of Trader Town...

It's kinda like a delegation from 1920s Earth arriving in Washington via a beautiful Zeppelin, only to be met by a wing of F22s and told to park it. 😎

If Garin has to micromanage the day to day defenses of SD, then the situation is even worse. What do we have the large Inquisition bases for? Garin is head of a giant institution that employes tens of thousands of people spread over three continents.

Right I feel like I am okay with voting for this now that the Update has been changed. I still am not very fond of the he family to say the damn least but I see no reason to do anything negative to Pol Ning because of that.

So I was apparently a bit too hasty to call the vaccine fine. The area just started hurting pretty bad, though it does not directly impede my writing fortunately. Still just the general pain makes it hard to focus properly on telling a story so we will not be having the third update I'd hoped to surprise you guys with tonight. Hopefully it will go down by morning.

My read of it was more like coming in like wizards, all cool and mysterious, obviously trying to make an impression... and then getting a flight of armed-the-teeth VTOL fighters politely informing you that you are violating Imperial air space, and to land immediately.

Though that was a literal read, since Pol Ning was acting a bit sheepish. Like 'in hindsight, the guys who thought "no kill like overkill" when dealing with Tiamat probably feel even more strongly with regards to the place they live in, don't they?"

Forewarning, but yeah, you might feel okay at first, then wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, shaking, and feeling pain shooting up and down your shoulders and limbs.

Stay hydrated, it gets better.

Watch Pol Ning somehow find Hua Fen during the celebrations. Or the other way around. Neither would be able to resist poking at the other girl the second they were made aware of their presence.

It seem we need to invest in some teleportation anchors to not allow some random devil or Pit Fiend to just summon a Gate so something similar in our cities.

I haven't heard of anyone having side-effects lasting more than a couple days, not unless they were among the unlucky few who have severe reactions, and you would definitely have experienced those by now.

Just take it easy and rest, DP. Let the government-sponsored mind control chip you were injected with do its work. :p

They work for different factions in the Yi Tish civil war.

Pol Ning is the sister of the Orange Emperor.

Hua Fen is the daughter of the greatest general of the Azure Emperor.

Oh? Oooooh!

Oh yeah, that would be a sight alright.

I thought that it's about their gender status as women and the fact that Hua Fen is as equal as any mage students in our empire whereas Pol Ning got the short end of the stick.

But this? This is much, much better.

If they do encounter one another (after we made it clear that we do not recognize Pol Ning's brother's claim), it will subtly imply that we favour the existence of the Azure Court moreso than the Orange.
