You got to have some risk. The combination is already pretty cheesy.
Risk is fine, but that's the enemy's job.
If the twin's try this every fight, then every fight starts with a 1/20 chance to loose instantly, which is barely better than russian roulette (which most experts suggest not to play more than 3 times in your life).

So that last arc puts Viserys at one or two good fights away from 19th level. Was it ever hashed out what happens to progression, etc, at 20th level? I know Mythic Ranks were implemented as an alternative to the 3.5 epic rules (and thank goodness, those rules are garbage), but what happens to XP after 20th, for example?
I hope we just continue to accumulate XP after level 20. We need XP to spend on full Miracles and whatnot without deleveling.

No. It would be more an emergency buff when you really need it. Also, Alter Fate and other re-rolls exist.

Personally? I wouldn't mind accumulating XP into a pool, and being able to spend said XP on new feats, spells, etc. No new levels, but a continued progression, at whatever speed DP deems appropriate. I think it's important to still be able to work towards something, power-wise.

So that's 4 levels before the build comes together, which is hard to reach for a grown-up dragon.

How about this one, making all spells better as long as they stay in the dark?
They lack the Feat and Knowledge Nobility to qualify and the class is pretty useless to them after the first level.

If I'd retrain one of their Feats, I'd rather go Abjurant Champion.

@Azel, why not just go the Dragon Mystic route with the Twins? It progresses spellcasting, has some nice perks, and it's a d12 HD class rather than the d4 or d6 of most casters.

Or they could become the first Clerics of Viserys? It wouldn't be ideal power-wise, but the fluff would be amazing. Rebuke Undead would for into their builds very well, IMO, and it would open up some Divine Metamagic options.

On the matter of Qyburn in the Scholarium...

Noble: *storms in* "How dare you! How dare you to insult my son and heir!"
Qyburn: ...
Noble: "Justify yourself, low-born scum!"
Qyburn: "... and your son would be?"
Noble: "I am Lord Hrazef Hatif and you will address me with proper respect!"
Qyburn: "Ah. Yes. I remember your son now."
Noble: "Good! Now? Would you like to say something to what I was told happened in his last class?"
Qyburn: "Indeed. I am saddened to inform you that your son has the wits of a particularly dull turnip and severe case of egomania. I am, in fact, rather confident that I could grow a better behaved and overall more intelligent being out of frogspawn. My condolence."
Noble: "What did you say!?" 😠
Qyburn: "The facts leave me no room for another conclusion. His classwork is abysmal, he is disruptive and I have witnessed him drink ink on a dare during class. It must have been a harsh blow to realize that the future of your house rests on the shoulders of the boy."
Noble: "Enough of this indignity! The king will hear of this! No! That is not enough! I challenge you to a duel for the honor of my house!"
Qyburn: ...
Noble: ...
Qyburn: ...
Noble: "Do you accept the challenge or are you also a coward, barbarian?"
Qyburn: "To be clear on this. You have come to the office of your sons magic instructor and are now challenging him to a duel."
Noble: "Indeed."
Qyburn: "While possessing no magical ability yourself and no muscle tone to speak of, but instead a sizeable pot-belly."
Noble: "Do you think I am scared by an old man like you?"
Qyburn: "I retract my earlier statement. The boy is clearly the perfect heir for your house."
Noble: "Ah! Good that you have seen sense and finally recognized the excellence and wits of my son! Now reinstate my boy to this class."

Pretty sure people know better already.

I mean, we have Wyla, besides various supernatural creatures.
And also, Qyburn simply doesn't look like the type of being you would casually insult anymore.

He would be wearing his monkey disguise in the Scholarium though.

There would be very few people willing to go near him otherwise.

I think Dragon Mystic would be the most powerful option. Adding negative energy damage to all attack spells means that they all become valid targets for Fell Drain, which is a nasty combination.

I thought his appearance might be a sensible first introduction to the topic he teaches.

If people aren't willing to go near the squid-monster, they shouldn't learn about the squid-monster-magic.

To be fair, you have a point there. At least Qyburn would likely appreciate it if the squeamish ones are weeded out like that.
