He did almost get one-shotted, his meat shield Lyanna was killed and he was ultimately saved by casting a spell of sanctuary across the ward line into the crypts and his uncle getting there with the leshy cavalry. So you know the sort of stuff that earns a level up. :V

Well with Robert dead and Lyanna doing so well saving our cousin is there any reason not to Rez her as well?

The men at arms were rallying to the defense of Winterfell with steel and mortal courage against deathless dread, but they were yet too slow, too far to bar the Enemy's way.
Shouldn't circling around the Godswood have taken it directly to the Armory and Guards Hall? I assumed that having both of those (and also the First Keep) right there was deliberate design too, since it's both the northern side of the castle and overlooks the Crypts.

So unless the guards got rallied elsewhere it should have run smack dab into the reserve of the garrison.

Raise Dead is a fifth-level spell...although Other bullshit might apply here

Edit: Also it is a pretty shit spell
I'm pretty sure the Leshy would just recommend waiting a little bit.

There's little political difference between getting a inferior, harmful version from it, and waiting for Viserys to learn the news and come himself.

Though the emotional difference might be significant enough... but really, again, no use getting discount resurrection.

I certainly expected more people to die

It went far better than expected

Yeah, I also expected the Winterfell guard to sell themselves dearly against this thing, just going off the map.

I rolled for it. The issue is Ser Jorry was slow doing what the talking cat told him. Unlike Eddard he had questions and questions take time.
I'm... guessing he's not going to make that mistake next time, considering it was his Lord who slew the thing, and Jon who stopped it from advancing into the crypt.

How much health did this thing even have? How much damage did Jon do? Eddard?
Eddard has three attack iterative, so +11 BAB.

Eddard is probably at least as skilled as Sandor was when he came to Sorcerer's Deep. Which is... well, you can do a lot of damage with an optimized build. With an unoptimized one, which Eddard has due to being a ruler, I would say you can probably still roll high on damage if every attack lands.

Which it did.

Shadow Cat: "Quickly now, lives are at stake!"

Ser Jorry: "Trouble again?"

Shadow Cat: "My brethren and I have discovered dire portents of danger! The heavy cream might have been poisoned by agents of Winter. We must taste test it before the cooks use it and kill half the castle."

Ser Jorry: "To the kitchens!"

Keep in mind Lyanna did do some damage too.

...And yet the guys from the Night Watch show themselves absolute retards compared to the country bumpkins from Essos, if we are to look at the mechanics alone :V
Truly amusing, I tell ya/

Ngl, I'd like this to have been a permakill, if only for some actual stakes to be involved going further - since this is a mostly inconsequential named character and all.

Aaaand I think we got Starks hooked now.
Thank you Cersei, very nice.
It happened in Winterfell, and was done by a minor servant of the Others, I really doubt a minor servant of the Others, is able to soul kill a Stark in Winterfell without triggering the Wards.

I get wanting higher stakes, but it being a permakill wouldn't make logical sense here.
That would be us, I guess, if we're going for symmetry... we're just a better deal broker than Tiamat. So instead of "do this or I won't do X" it'll be "I'll do X!"
Which make us the Bahamut in this case, we will resurrect Robb for him, if he don't make a bargain with some ancient evil for Robbs resurrection, before we have time to do it.

Actually, assuming it was a "desperate straits" assumption that no one would help him if he didn't accept the offer, and it was just mistaken, I wouldn't do what Bahamut did. I would offer an unraveling and tell him to be more careful next time.

It's going to be an awkward conversation between Viserys and Ned.

"Did you kill my friend?"

"It was not by my hand nor by the hand of my people that killed your friend."

"But you could have prevented it," Ned states a touch hotly, despite everything.

Viserys in turn stares at Eddard Stark for a handful of seconds. "Let me put it this way, Lord Stark, my people took over the task of preventing his assassination from its previous caretaker. What does this say about the life of your friend?"

Ned stays silent, unable to come up with a good answer.

"At least he went out doing what he loved: having sex and snubbing his wife."
