It's a disaster because guess who's going to die next month? His wife! Yeah, that'll be totally clean and not messy at all.
I'm not even sure about the metaphysics involved here.
If she became a member of his House before the eyes of gods and men, is she still a regular lady of the CoS to count for the ritual?

This is pretty advanced magic and will not work in fully predictable ways (see the original caster killing only the wrong Andals), so I'm absolutly not certain what will happen once we cast it.

All we can do is muster our forces to deal with whatever is left, be it by raw power overcoming the attack (as the Queen likely will) or by falling through some loophole.

She's recognized as nobility of the court. Even if the ritual doesn't kill her, we're going to kill her. We're not just leaving alive everyone who doesn't immediately drop dead.

Is his wife actually going to die? I was under the impression that our ritual was going to be targeted very tightly in on the meaningfully powerful fey champions/leadership because doing otherwise would waste power and for all the jokes about it we don't actually want to commit genocide.

If this person is weak (and unimportant) enough to marry off to a mortal then her level of the court probably isn't in the targeting parameters we're planning to use for our proverbial bombing run.

Everyone recognized as nobility in the Court of Stars is marked for death. If they're not nobility or forswear the Court of Stars then they're spared assuming they don't try to fight us. Osgrey's wife could presumably survive if she cuts ties with the Court of Stars forever.

Court of Stars, Green Warden's faction.
Ah... the diplomats and anti-infiltration group...

The thing is, if you go around and look at how various conquests of Viserys went, certain patterns emerge. Tyrosh and Pentos saw a lot of nobles dangling from ropes when they ran afoul of the new laws. In Myr and Braavos, there was a remarkable uptick of unfortunate accidents right before them joining the Imperium. In Lys and Volantis, large swaths of the ruling class were killed during some sort of infighting that culminated in Viserys taking over.

She might just have decided that she doesn't want to stick around with the CoS for whatever the crazy Dragon will do to take the queen down a peg.

So she's ether decided to GTFO while the goings good, is running some kind of odd con that requires this sort of commitment, decided that this is best for her story or is batshit crazy by fey standards, ether way it would probably be a good idea to get some eyes over there and find out what's really going on before the inevitable explosion.

What was the plan for the Lannisters' portal again? If we aren't planning on it already then having an infiltrator tag it with Portal Beacon so we can just plane shift and triangulate the location of the other side would shortcut a lot of investigation. I couldn't recall if that spell has come up, so I figured it was worth mentioning.

Some trouble in the Reach. Florents having a little trouble with the Faith with some of their population.

A Fey getting married to a lords. Is the lord anyone important? Don't really remember what the lord is like.

A lord and the Inquisition having some problems. Think we should do anything about it?

Not sure how serious the Shield Island lord situation is.

Rumors and Reports of the Summer Isles

Twenty Ninth Day of the Second Month 294 AC

Exile's Journey: Xhahosta has set sail on a bright sunny day after a great feast, under auspicious omens given by the eldest and most well respected who call the Three Exiles their home. Not so grand in dress and manner nor so skilled in sorcery are they, but it is said their blessings will carry the traveler farthest. Given what you learned from Elissa Farman over the month you suspect he might find the path to Asshai, but only if his silver tongue serves him in strange western lands as much as it did among his own kin.

Wind Ships: With the aid of his djinn guest, Sorrol Zo has succeeded in setting to water swan ships that can bend the very winds to their captain's will. Given your own efforts in forging the Moonchaser and other great vessels of the which can cross over land, sea and under it, in other Spheres and even the black heavens above, you would have little interest in this success save for one small and seemingly mundane detail. According to the Red Priest who is providing you information on the process it is extraordinarily cheap, much more so than enchantments and elemental bindings should be. Unfortunately your source has been less able to discern how well the process scales or how skilled the enchanters must be.

Bloody Flowers, Twined Crowns: The Flower War between Red Flower Vale in western Jhala and Last Lament was as bloody as was feared following the assassination attempt on Tarra Xho last year, but rather than ending in favor of the warriors of the Red Flower it was the warriors of Last Lamment who carried the day, while their sorcerous queen was responsible for healing many of those involved at battle's end, friend and foe alike.

The breaking or at least bending of ancient custom by the warriors of the Red Flower combined with their enemies magnanimity is said to have pushed Tarra Xho to accept the sovereignty of Yanda Zaq and Jola Daa. If the latter were indeed behind the attempted assassination which began the chain of events than they seem to have won more in failure than they ever could have in defeat.

Upon a Bed of Laurels: The Hero of Omboru has parlayed his victory against the dreadful cherufe into a life of feasting song and revelry that takes him and his companions across the Summer Islands. So far the various princes and princesses are more than happy to host them as they attempt to win the favor of such powerful guests, but there is grumbling already about one of such lowly standing demanding honors by his very presence.

OOC: @Duesal I just realized looking back on old rumor posts that you missed one here. It's beginning of the First Month rumors, so two months ago. Do you guys want Ibben rumors too or just extraplanar ones and wrap up?

Thanks, I'll add that when I'm free. And may as well get Ibbenese rumors too. That'll help us gearing up to diplomancing them.

Unfortunately the an anointed and thoroughly enraged septon found far more of an audience in the town beneath the castle gates, leading one Inquisition agent traveling through the area in the guise of a trader to remark 'they might siege the keep if they had ladders long enough and balls heavy enough'.
"We come to you live now with the The Daily Roast..."

"In the Reach, an anonymous Inquisition Correspondent on the scene..."

Agent: "Lord Florent said, and I *crackle* you not, "Come and have a go if you think you're 'ard enough." And then he dropped trough and showed them what he really thought."

@egoo, another MA:

[] Rotate out most of the Inquisition agents at Lord Tybalt Blackbars court. Make it quietly known to them that this not because of their opinion of the man, but because they were so sloppy that he noticed. You are expecting better secrecy from the Inquisition then that.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Ibben rumors would be good to have. We need to know some of what's happening in that part of the world.

I didn't get jack shit of what these rumors were about, but I suppose that's par for the course if we're talking bout literal/metaphorical bumblefuck of the whole setting.
:V

Jokes aside, I'm glad we are seeing some sort of movement around the world even if we're not taking any part in any of it.

Done.

The agents resent having to 'coddle' the lord with regards to the reality of the world and unfortunately the old lord is knowledgeable enough in the ways of people to know his 'foreign guests' do not respect him. Still, you have not received a letter of protest yet at least.
You know, if we had someone with the patience of Azema to spare... and yes, I really do mean patience. She put up with the likes of Aedon for months.

Really though, this is a bit of an oversight @DragonParadox. If Personnel decided that this area was less urgent, we definitely have broad enough recruitment goals that someone with a Diplomacy Skill Focus feat and some study on Westerosi ass-kissing would have been available to placate him. In fact it might have been easier than finding easterners who were willing to plant their asses in a foreign backwater for multiple months without expectation of much action.

Eh. It was bound to happen that some staffing would not work out sooner or later. By now, the Inquisition has thousands, if not tens of thousands of members to cover a vast area. Simple statistics dictate that there had to be a dysfunctional cell sooner or later, no matter how good our staffing is.

I'm thinking there is blood sacrifice of some sort along with Elemental binding.

That might be distasteful, but not a huge issue for us. What could be much more problematic, however, is if this is being accomplished with Genie Wishcraft. We already know how taboo the subject is among them, so it would be highly atypical if this were the case. Bound or compelled Djinn could cause a hassle.
