Nah, the next shield is going on crafting bench as soon as we get back to SD and will be ready for him ASAP. Once we can outfit him with one made from Imperial Steel, his new/old shield can go to someone else.

Even if his Reflex save is so high that they need a Nat 1 for the spell to take effect, it's better that they make the attempt that stand around looking pretty. Even a 5% chance to immobilize him applied five times isn't awful.

Of course, he could be affected by a Freedom of Movement spell, in which case the girls' efforts are wasted. Then again, one of the previous max level Dispels might have canceled it out without us even realizing it.

Basically, it doesn't hurt to try.

They could, but only Dany can use any of meaningful strength at range, and that's limited to 30 feet. And Anu-Simung has an aura which inflicts Spell Resistance against Divine spells on everyone within 60 feet. It's normally SR 34 (11 + CR 23), but Anu-Simung is not CR 23. He's used too many special powers and abilities. I don't know what @DragonParadox has added to him, but I would say he's closer to CR 25, at least. If that's the case, the Divine SR would be 36 or higher. At best, Dany would only have a 25% chance of overcoming that.

I don't like those odds, especially since it would put Dany way too close to Anu-Simung for my comfort.
 
On an unrelated note, this is when Richard earns his first additional title in a long, long-ass time.

Everyone nearby, all the Legion soldiers not currently fighting for their lives, have seen two Dragons standing well out of hammer range while an armored Human rights a 15 foot tall deific Construct. That's impressive all on its own.

Now they're going to see him grow larger than a Minotaur and finish the job.

That's how you foster a healthy legend.

It was starting to look like David vs Goliath.

Now it's going to look like Richard kills Anu-Simung, colorized 294 AC.
 
Still no word about where is Mereth.

How aout we set those two to cleaning up Sarnor after this? They should be spending time together.

@Goldfish what do you think about using reached Shadow Phase instead of shield other? It doesn't last as long, but it gives a 50% miss chance to physical attacks and a 20% one to magic. This fight probably won't last another 20 rounds, and if it starts casting we'll be able to use counterspelling to waste its actions while Richard stabs it. If it stays physical it misses half of its attacks without spreading damage around.

Spell Scourge instead of a second chains of light spell from Dany is also worth a second look. Depending on how you read the spell it could just flat out confuse the target without a save if they don't have a harmless effect to target.

Shadow Phase only provides a 20% miss chance vs magic weapons. I would rather give Richard a better damage buffer from Shield Other. It also requires touch to place on someone else.

Spell Scourge allows SR, so Dany can't use it against Anu-Simung.
