Infrastructure Report on Sothoryos and Beyond
Personal annotation on previous report: Planting Molten Skies plants approved. They are not to be consumed under any circumstances until they are deemed free of wild magic or other perilous influence. You recall the results of Denys' experiments all too well and the magic he was working was to the madness at the heart of Doomed Valyria what a spark of flint is to a lightning bolt.

Naath's public schools opened three days ago, the island's small population almost ideal to fit into such a project with more than enough room to grow with the limited immigration that its flesh-forged protections allow. Thankfully both the butterfly fever and other arcane aspects of the island had remained quiescent this month. Among the expeditions Wyla sent out to map the interior better only about one in five died, an uncommonly low number her letter assures you, though she cannot offer any such surety for privately funded expeditions. Not everyone can be as well prepared as Baelon Dortaris and his company.

Further east the improvement of infrastructure in the Basilisk Isles is going well, including the creation of orphanages. After the pattern of Sorcerer's Deep these include a handful of phoenixes in teaching and healing positions that should among other benefits know to direct any of their charges with an aptitude for magic to the Scholarum.

The Isles' long association with both piracy and the slave trade have helped draw agents for the Inquisition based in Astapor, supposedly dissatisfied traders fleeing your 'tyranny'. Amusingly enough, according to the Commissar, one of Saan's old allies who found a new life on land directing a whole new sort of nefarious doings, many of the agents sent to Slaver's Bay would once have been legitimately dissatisfied with your rule, but silver in hand and the promise of more to come goes a long way, as does the promise of healing impossible by mundane means. The note ends on an almost wistful note, regretting the day when magical healing will be more freely available thus making it a less effective bribe. He can just live with the disappointment though for if any place needs readily available arcane healing it's Sothoryos.

Establish Inquisition Base in Astapor (14/10) |
Moving on to the reports from the Inquisition already embedded in the other cities of Slaver's Bay you discover no great shifts in policy but a few hints at change, marriages between important families in Meereen and Yunkai.
A sign of renewed common action? you wonder. The news from King's Landing is much more straightforward, the Gold Cloaks are firmly in the pocket of your old 'friend' Littlefinger by virtue of not just bribes, but also blackmail. Subverting them without going through him will be a task of several months for your agents in King's Landing, unless of you are willing to work through Baelish himself... one way or another.

What do you do about the Gold Cloaks?
[] Continue with the present course of action (progress needed remains unchanged)
[] Send Garin to secretly interrogate Baelish and wipe his memory (progress needed halved, risk of Baelish catching on)

OOC: Again nothing major on the infrastructure, Basilisk Isles rolled really well though, just one more 6 would have made a crit.
