They can tap into the group of gods the Faceless are dealing with
No?
Like, we outright promised the Faceless not to teach people shit like this.

The lore for training Ur-Priests is nice, but they think their conglomerate-Deity to be in too shaky a balance, and I'm inclined to trust their judgment on that.

We can sick someone on an enemy Deity now and train an Ur-priest outta that, or make a pact between a Deity and someone (like the Faceless do with theirs).
But not touching the Faceless' deity itself.

The MA was kinda intended as probing which deities will mind and which - won't...
Had no idea it's that touchy a subject :/

Ur-Priests are basically the #1 thing Gods would hate and fear most. Hell Dany is basically a flavor of "stole power from a God", she just isn't double dipping for more every day like Ur-Priests do.

It's only due to the deep bonds of mutual respect and self interest that we could even think about pitching the idea and simultaneously not burn all our bridges from chancing it.

OGs are rather unique a Deity, enough for me to want to try it even if it isn't worth it with any other at the moment.

Bottom line, I wonder if Others will "reciprocate" by making their own Ur-priests :V
[the joke is that they may just hate all living enough to do that, but they'd also hate to do that]

Dany technically stole knowledge from Tiamat not power. Her deep and abiding connection to the Dragon Dream is enough to provide her power.

The more I learn about Ur-Priests the less I'm excited about getting them as a standardized class. Special PCs, sure, upon close review.

Well it does not look like we are getting many more votes soon and I do want to get three updates today so

I expected this vote to receive a lukewarm response. We don't have anyone who could benefit from it right now and tangible profits tend to draw a bigger crowd with more debate energy.

The vote was essentially a cut-off point, and that's... fine, really.
The intent behind the action didn't carry well enough with the vote, apparently, what with it originally being to get a feel which of our Deities will not mind the sort of arrangement -- but that's on me I suppose. Wall-0-texts are not always good.

We'll have a few more chapters like that soon I suppose. There are still lots of report-heavy matters to handle.

G'night all.

@DragonParadox, as we are backdating the item-order for the 12th month, are Gith interested in buying more creatures from us, seeing some successes in Elysium/Nirvana?

(I'm kinda shocked they are having as much of a progress as described, we haven't given them all that many forces, have we?)

They did not have enough progress to actually free up crafters yet, just enough to realize it's a trade worth pursuing further on their end.

Right.
We did, AFAIK, vote to basically ask around for volunteers among those of our people who would qualify. Meaning Ysandrix, some of the Fiends in our service and graduates of the Scholarium intending to go into the Inquisition.
But that's all we can do, unless someone more skilled at Omake-writing wants to bring in a character perfectly suited for Ur-Priest (I could certainly create such a character, but not write a decent story around him/her) and DP then accepts that Character.

Right.

Didn't really pop up on my radar. We could revisit this at any point though.

The inquisition is quietly looking for such people, but given how sensitive the matter it it's going to take more than one month to vet them

I violently hate this sort of Omake use. Omakes ought to be to develop aspects of the world, not to introduce new aspects that advantage the players!

Although an Ur-Priest wouldn't exactly break the game at this point. Nevertheless, it's a question of principle!

Flawed/Incomplete Notes on Fey Transformation (Cinder Court)
@DragonParadox, could this kind of transmutation be adapted for other courts? Like Rina's future subordinate Winter Court, or the Orphne Lord's court, or the future courts of any of our other important Fey vassals?

On a side note I really want that Leanan Sidhe who currently serves Ymeri. She shall be our minion eventually.

I agree.
Mostly.
Still, if I read a story of a character and liked the story, I would have no issues with later recruiting that person. Worked for Crake's gang.

Part MMMCDXXIII: Mages' Craft
Mages' Craft

Twenty-Sixth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

Better not to trouble the Old Gods over perilous bargains you have no one in mind to make. Perhaps Ysandrix, you think remembering the dragon's desire to follow in Dany's wake, but not yet. You have much more urgent need to their aid in subverting the rituals of the Court of Stars. The lore you have gained from the Faceless Men will keep as well in the dark fastnesses of the Shadow Tower as it did in the bowels of the House of Black and White.

Speaking of the Shadow Tower and the mages even now vying for a place in the oldest and most prestigious branch of the Scholarum, mages now have one more reason to seek a place in Sorcerer's Deep once their studies have advanced enough that they have mastered spells of the third circle. What is in many places in the Empire mastery constitutes knowledge one must possess to appreciate the lectures of Djinn mages for which the icy winds are as close as their own breath. According to Teana the lectures have been drawing crowds from the first day, though it quickly became apparent that many concepts and techniques did not translate perfectly when wielded by beings of flesh and blood rather than wind and wishcraft. Still the lecturers sent from Armun Kelisk had been quite willing to adapt, eager in fact since they were all volunteers seeking to expand their own horizons.

A pity the Stormweavers were not not able to send anyone yet. Hopefully their own curiosity will be piqued by the accounts of their fellow and the strictures of wars will allow at least a few of their masters to visit soon.

Cryomancer Lecturer Added to Scholarum, Lore Exchange not yet Solidified

The student exchange with Guild of Shapers on the other hand has been far more immediately fruitful, their techniques were designed for quick study by craftsmen whose main craft is not magic itself, but instead sculpture, carpentry, smithing, tailoring, and countless others in which a touch of sorcery can add polish or speed. Their place among the Djinn has more in common with your low mages and ritual casters, allowing for the greater prevalence of magic among the sky cities.

Magewrights Training will begin on the First Month of Next Year (Tier 2 Spell Casting Class equivalent to Adepts and Hedge Mages)

***

According to Soft Strider, the training given to Windbow Auxiliaries has proven a touch more difficult to make use of. The closest tradition to it already being taught is the Singers' own woodscraft and songs of lore, but teaching 'more of song and less of cunning' goes against the grain. "Had I asked my own teacher for something like this, she would have told me to seek the gods and trouble her no more," the Singer admits, amusement shining in her deep green eyes. "Yet these are not the woods of my youth," she adds wryly, motioning over the surrounding woods where men, Singers, Serpentfolk, Essarians, and even a pair of adventurous Ifrit seek to not only pass the challenges of the day but unravel its mysteries also.

What proportion of rangers should be trained in the new style starting next month?

[] One Third, better to err on the side of scout's craft and skill with blade and bow

[] Half, a balanced approach

[] Two Thirds, magic will often see one safe where mundane skills fail

OOC: Rather short, but I did not want to pass through all these without some kind of player engagement, particularly as these are some emblematic moments for how the Scholarum brings together different philosophies of studying magic.

If you guys want to train an Ur-Priest, use Qyburn. He is already a divine caster who could retrain somewhat. Also, he is already Evil and cares nothing for gods.
