I'd like an interlude between him and the resident librarian Erinyes.

It would be an interesting philosophical conversation.

No, I think we really won't.

I say, keep him librarian or maybe teacher, either or.
In fact...

[X] A teacher, of magic and ancient secrets - for even with Scholarum set up, and Lotus Leshi sent off at every corner, you could use more beings proficient at handling tutoring with care it deserves.
This guy has celestial runelore, I'm not seeing the point to the sudden reluctance in having him as a researcher.

I can see where this is coming from. I think I can fit one more researcher in and this guy has a distinct voice to be worth it naratively (not to mention that it makes sense to have the option IC) , but at the same time if you guys go for another option I certainly won't regret it.

Actually, yeah, I like the idea of him acting as a teacher and part-time librarian better than another researcher.

He's perfect as a teacher in a Scholarium. Good stats, great skills, and he's an 11th level Sorcerer, which is really hard to come by. Actually, he would probably make a good Headmaster for a Scholarium branch.

All that really boils down to is that he's slightly better at using a handful of Rune-based spells and learns them automatically in addition to his regular Sorcerer spells.

A teacher is okay, but he's not headmaster material. I'd rather he actually starts liking the Imperium first rather than just going with us because we're the only halfway decent option.

He's also not likely to appreciate anything too formal and restrictive if he's anything like our other Azata. If we stick him somewhere like the head of a scholarum branch it may just end up making him so miserable he quits and leaves as soon as he feels he's cleared any obligation to us.

He's not headmaster material yet. There will be time enough for him to grow into the role, or decide teaching initiates isn't to his liking. And maybe he'll never be ready for that sort of responsibility, but we can give him a chance and see how it goes.

@egoo, can you add a caveat to your plan that we only ask Astehedos (that name is hard to remember!) to try out teaching as a career for a few months. If he doesn't like it, we can easily find him something else more suited to his personality and expectations.

Teacher sounds good, especially if we still plan to restore Heaven; any kind of lore relating to that may be useful.

I'm pretty against handing out roles this important to anyone who isn't a firm supporter of us. That at the very least would need to change, and this leaves aside whether or not he'd even like the restrictiveness of being a Headmaster in the first place.

Like I said, we'll see if he even likes teaching before trying to get him to take more responsibility.

With his skills, though, I think he'll do nicely as a teacher; Knowledge (geography, planes) +18, Knowledge (history) +15, Perform (oratory) +18, Spellcraft +18. He has a lot to teach and the ability to teach it well, making himself understood due to his high Oratory skill and his innate Truespeech ability.

A teacher would be good. We have Scholarums taught mostly by Leshies, and I want to go back to the "weird and varied teaching body" thing we had going at the beginning. It's not a mechanical necessity or anything, it's just nicer thematically.

Don't we have school of arts and such? Why not send him there?
The closest thing he has to artistic abilities are his Perform (Oratory) and Disguise skills. He's much better suited to teach at a Scholarium, though if that isn't to his liking, there's nothing stopping him from teaching elsewhere if he wishes.

Y-eah, pretty much this.
We've gone somewhere weird with mass-producible "just barely good enough"-teachers from the plantforge.

Yeah, sure.

-[X] As a caveat, we aren't assigning him there forevermore - merely suggesting it as something he might like, and if in a few months he doesn't... well, we'll find somewhere more fitting to his tastes, we have a variety of roles he can fill.

True speech? Think we could get him to be a voice actor for the mirror plays broadcast to Yi Ti? :V

That wouldn't be a bad gig for him, either, though I wouldn't want that to be where we place him first. Truespeech is a lot easier to come by than a highly qualified 11th level Sorcerer who can teach in the Scholarium.

Point. We really should get some true speech voice actors though. It we start soon, we could produce some cheesy martial arts movies about Westerosi knights and steal the kung fu movie tropes for Viserys' homeland. :V

Just wait until some enterprising mirror playwright pens and produces "Adventures of the Swordlord in the Far East!" about a thinly disguised expy of Richard journeying through some poorly stereotyped version of Yi-Ti.

The grinding of teeth will be epic. :V
