That's fucked up... that's really fucked up

I was mostly joking about using it as a distraction, but now that I'm thinking about it, there could be a valid use.

While I want to kill Lucan, then maim his gods for the glory of the empire, I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority here on that issue. If we seriously want him to sit down, shut up, and consider working with us we need to make him reevaluate his entire life. I don't think words are going to cut it for someone with his actual god whispering in his ear.

A vision like what we experienced when stepping foot in Heaven for the first time could very well be the best way to show him that this is an entirely different game than what he thinks we are playing.

I also missed that it only targets evil creatures, but we might be able to get around that if altering the alignment restrictions on a level one cleric spell falls in the bounds of what blood wish allows.

If all we wanted to do was break his mind we could just tap him with this and let him stare into the Abyss for 20 rounds. That's kind of pointlessly fucked up when we can just incinerate him though.

It's been heavily hinted that Lucan already knows that Hellven is a thing.

However I too support killing him and maiming his Gods. The "reparations" plans are just insane and I'm against them, but I expect him to fight us when we invade and want to capture him alive if he does. If we can get him alive, we can pull a F!Aegon and use him against the Father...

I would want nothing more than to do this. The maiming and sacrificing of his gods and him on the altar of sacrifice has been something I have longed for. Unfortunately I have been told that it is "not feasible" and "a horrible thing to do". Tools, all of them.

Goofy on trial over here.

That's a good plan, though.

Alright, the type pyramid from Savage Species. Keep in mind, this is a 3.0 book, not 3.5.

Lowest tier: Animal, Humanoid, Vermin
Next: Magical Beast, Monstrous Humanoid
Then: Fey, Giant
Followed by: Dragon, Shapechanger
On to: Aberration
Then: Elemental, Ooze, Plant
Finally: Construct, Undead, Outsider

Generally, higher types override lower types. You can still apply the template, but the type doesn't change. The example given was a half-dragon earth elemental. It's got the wings, the breath weapon, and the rest of it, but it's still an elemental. Again, this is 3e, not 3.5, so take it with a grain of salt.

DP generally regards Dragon as superior to anything else in this setting in terms of gene expression, with Outsider lineage more or less equal.

Generally speaking I'm going to err on the side of giving dragons more weight given their place in the narrative of ASOIAF. It does not trump undead or construct for obvious reasons and it's about on par with Aberration depending on how the combination came to be, but I would say it trumps both elemental and plant.

Part MMMCCLXXIV: Wanderer's Light
Wanderer's Light

Thirtieth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

The notion of hobbling your allies, even in a way that likely hinders your enemy more, does not appeal. Decision made, you ask the fey lord to weave another Unraveling from the soul of the ancient amber-entombed lich. The world is unfortunately filled with powers that would ensnare the souls of the naive, and you do not fear you will lack the chance to make use of it. Thus you return to your desk to consider the challenges and opportunities tomorrow might bring, though before the day is out you do have two more visitors announced not by deepening shadows, but by the light of flame and sorcery.

"Lady Bloom..." you greet the flame spirit of Skane with a smile before turning to her companion. "Wisdom Astehedos, I hope your journeys have brought you the peace and understanding you sought."

Malarys, with whom you had been speaking on the matter of amendments to the tax code, which to keep, which to reject and which merits ensuring the Voice that proposed them never sees power again, makes a greeting of his own, recognizing both your guests though he had never met Astehedos in person before.

The azata glyph-binder certainly looks more hale than he did when last you saw him, his bronze skin gleaming with more of a luster to it and his sky blue eyes brighter. Given that he was drugged near to senselessness on an auction block in Heaven's Shore, then doubting his own senses and unwilling to trust hope, that is not saying much.

"Understanding certainly, though I must beg pardons for my tardy return seeking ever more of it, peace..." he shakes his head sadly. "Peace is a rare thing in this world. The most I have found is in Lady Bloom's garden in Skane, but even that seems fragile, almost besieged by the looming darkness."

"This is the mortal world, withering and passing are as natural as birth and blooming," the brijidine interjects gently. "It would serve us ill to see the Enemy in the shadow of every falling leaf."

"As you say, my lady," Astehedos replies, though without much conviction, before quickly moving on. "In the first few days I flew upon the air and ether currents as far and wide as I could. West as far as Lannisport, east to the Red Wastes, South to the summer Islands, and north to Braavos. I startled a few people when translocating blindly, using only maps as a guide. I helped where I could... a band of brigands... a crumbling bridge in need of urgent mending... a former apprentice down on his luck and no longer able to pay his master's fees in need of gainful work. I imagine I could do that for... well, forever."

Reading Malarys' expression rightly, on what the mage-lord doubtlessly sees as an indulgent waste of one's talents, the azata mage raises a hand for peace. "I said that I could do it, not that I should. This taking the fealty of devils and offering up your foes in bloody sacrifice to elder gods, it does not sit easy with me, Your Grace, but at the same time I am neither blind nor foolish. You never would have been in the market in Heaven's Shore, able and willing to buy..." the word comes out with a painful hitch, "...and free myself and others if it had not been for the choices you made, the people with whom you allied. There was even an erinyes with you there in the market, was there not, the Lady Mereth? I should thank her as well."

You nod silently, unsure of how Mereth would take such unexpected words of thanks. Better than she would have six months ago, at least.

The stream of words slows, each weighed in careful measure over days and weeks, you suspect. "What it all comes down to in the end is I would like to help as my knowledge and nature allows. You gave me hope, it would be ill done of me to pay that back in distrust of your vision... Your Grace." The honorific rests about as easily upon Astehedos' lips as a stone balanced on a needle's tip, but Maelor has used it mayhap three times in all the time you've known him, so in that he is in good company.

What role do you propose Astehedos take in your realm?

[] Researcher into the magics of runes and signs

[] Librarian for your collection of arcane lore

[] Envoy to the remaining celestial realms when you make contact

[] Write in

OOC: And here we go, it should be a decent overnight vote.

OOC: And here we go, it should be a decent overnight vote. Not yet edited.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

We will always need researchers.
*looks at overbloated character-count*
*looks at rapidly shrinking list of actions that are actually thematic to any given Researcher*

No, I think we really won't.

I say, keep him librarian or maybe teacher, either or.
In fact...

[X] A teacher, of magic and ancient secrets - for even with Scholarum set up, and Lotus Leshi sent off at every corner, you could use more beings proficient at handling tutoring with care it deserves.
