Yes there are all sorts, quite a bit more than this too.

Dispel Possession - No Save, No SR

Sessile Spirit - Makes the possessor inactive.

Entrap Spirit - Traps them in a mirror.

Trap the Soul, Imprison Soul etc - Various effects mainly involving Soul Gems.

Soul Vault - probably a worthwhile buff for the team here too, will auto trap anyone attempting to possess.

Edit:

I've mistaken Soul Vault for a different spell, no auto trap.
A simple plan would be to cast Soul Vault on ourselves and whichever counts as the main host body, Dispel Possession on the body he is currently possessing and be ready with Entrap Spirit.

He will be forced out, either manifesting as a spirit in which case we trap it with Entrap Spirit, attempting to possess one of us in which case it is trapped* or attempts to return to the host body in which case it is trapped*.

*Automatically by Soul Vault.

Edit:

**Nevermind I've mistaken Soul Vault for another spell, I'll have to find that later.

Possession Trap is what I was thinking of, ward a creature and anybody attempting to possess them has to Will Save or be sucked into a gem.

@Goldfish

With a target of Personal, if Dany can chain it onto the party and the host body then we just Dispel Possession and cast him out of his current body.

He has the following options and consequences:

Remain Bodyless/Flee bodyless - Entrap Spirit or Soul Transfer into a receptacle.

Attempt to return to main host - Will save or enter gem

Attempt to Possess our team - Will save or enter gem.

My main concern is that we don't actually know what a disembodied Warg is, creature-wise, and we don't know if we have the means to perceive one before it enters a body of after it exits one. If we can't see it, we can't target it.

We also don't what manner of sensory information a disembodied Wary is able to receive. Warding its host as a trap could very well be detected before it attempts to enter it.

Generally, we're just unacceptably ignorant on the subject. Gonna update my vote to have us pick Bloodraven's brain to help us decide on a course of action.

Uncle Brynden is probably impressed by how productive we're being. :V

The language in most of these spells is actually pretty broad and should encompass anything undertaking the act of possession.

It's ability to perceive traps is another issue of course but it does also make the receptacle a non-option so at the very least should be on companions before we go in.

Soul Transfer for example will target anything bodyless or incorporeal or even physical manifestations of a soul, just not vanilla Outsiders.

As for our ability to perceive an incorporeal warg, See Beyond is a fantastic all day buff I've routinely argued should be a standard for us, definitely it should be applied here.

Edit:

However this might all be beside the point if we skip Dispel Possession and cast Sessile Spirit dazing the possessor on a failed save for the rounds/level, more than enough time to follow up with Soul Transfer or any of the other spells suggested.

We know what body he's in, no detection required.

Plan updated. We need more information, so I've got us doing some investigation of Stone Hedge (I keep tying Stone Henge :mad:) while quizzing Bloodraven for more details on Wargs. We'll decide on how to proceed based on what he tells us.

[X] Be cautious, this is not Rickard's body any more than any of the thousands of others he has worn. Rickard cannot leave his human host unattended for long, however, else he will be missed and questions eventually raised which could make the identity less useful to him.
-[X] Teleport to Stone Hedge with Richard and Rina but remain hidden for now, casting Greater Arcane Sight and Blood Wishing a See Beyond spell to aid our investigations.
--[X] Examine the keep for wards and lingering magical effects and auras while Dany keeps Rickard's insensate host under constant surveillance using Scrying. If Rickard takes possession of the body before we are ready to capture him, Dany will keep us updated to his movements so that we can ambush him at the most opportune time.
---[X] While investigating Stone Hedge, ask Bloodraven to quickly tell us more of what a Warg is, especially one that exists without a true body of its own; is it a common spirit, a unique form of Undead, an Incorporeal entity which is technically alive, self-perpetuating psychic energy, etc? What manner of spell can reveal the presence of a disembodied Warg, if there is any such thing. Can Wargs even exist in between host bodies, or do they transfer directly from one to the next? If they can exist between hosts, in what manner do they perceive their surroundings?
----[X] We will determine how best to handle Rickard depending on what we learn from Bloodraven.

@Wheel of time @notbirdofprey @Crake

:confused::confused::confused:

What are these malarkey that you guys speak of and where do I have to sign up?
Let me get a song

Tis the tale of a farm boy and his emotional issues with women
Tis the tale of a boy who ran with wolves in dreams, and spanked his wife in a way that was definitely sexual
Tis the tale of a boy who gambled his way to being the greatest general ever, and the boy toy of a empress of people with texan acents.
It is a story of males and females being stupid, of wars fought, and a chosen one wondering why his dick keeps reacting to three girls.
Tis The Wheel of Time. And everyone is stupid in some way.

Don't forget to vote, y'all. If not for me then at least for one of the default options DP offered.

Been reading through some of the informational tabs. Really makes me wish I had more time in the day to read this quest. So many interesting things to read and look forward to find the background of. The Court of Stars especially sounds interesting. Can't wait to see what that's about.

Not a super developed thread at the moment from an IC perspective so you're basically in at the ground floor for that one.

Just noticed you're a Bird Brother with a Blaster, I like you even more now.

Malarys: "Why do you need that many details on dragon saddles and flight harness designs? I am a lawyer you know. Not a stable hand..."

sweating

Malarys: "...ah. Say no more. I do know a thing or two about such... intimacies."

"You misunderstand--"

Malarys: "No need to explain! Though I have more experience dealing with cases of, ah, relations untoward between Dragonlords and their mounts. We had to draw up legal code for this, rare as it is, but they did prefer thoroughness."

"That's..."

Malarys: "I'll have what I remember sent to your office as soon as I can."

"...you have my gratitude."

Malarys: "Who am I to stand between such love? Sordid or otherwise."
