If only we could be so lucky. Its would be so much easier to deal with a handful of errant faeries by being a combination of draconic and displeased in their general direction. Human stupidity, however, is not so easily eliminated.

There are ways for us to guarantee beating it on Initiative, and from there Timestop = roflstomp.
Preparation decides the field, as far as I get the difficulty of the encounter.

And we can have all the preparation we may want.

We can use this sort of tool.
I don't know when it might come in handy, but then again, none of us do - having it on hand just in case sooner rather than later seems a good idea.

And the Ancient Red really doesn't seem like much of a problem with proper preparation. Even if he breaks out and we use Yss - we would lose nothing but an objectively useless Orb.

And we can have all the preparation we may want.

The feud could even be part of a centuries long murder ritual which used the deaths of members of both families to keep a supernatural being powered up and awake during the waning of magic. :o
