@egoo, I share your distaste for adding more unnecessary Research Actions, but this one is short and could actually benefit us a great deal. Ley line nexi are rare and potential quite useful. Also, neither Deny nor Mercy have been tasked with research in recent months, IIRC, so a month of down time for them will make for a welcome change. And this is Westeros, so there is always a chance for some shit to go down and them to be forced to murder some noble fuckwit and his armsmen. With that in mind, it wouldn't be a bad idea to send along a few guards/assistants. Maybe a small squad of Legion soldiers?

Legionnaires aren't the most inconspicuous people.

There are alternatives, of course. In addition to Mereth, Leto, and Sarell, we now have 40 Veteran Erinyes. We could send one of them to accompany Denys and Mercy, maybe along with one of our Slayer Bio-Constructs? It can remain Invisible and out of the way for the entire mission, unless it's needed to shank any unruly Westerosi.

Speaking of Erinyes, @DragonParadox, the most recently Summoned have all been geared up to standard spec and need to be added to the numbers on the front page. It's currently 35, but should be 40.

[X] Goldfish

@Goldfish, I honestly want to make him pay for the research himself as a point of principle (we're using government money to help some random businessman! WTF?), possibly by offering him a loan or something. Or asking for a small part of his profits for the next X years or something.

EDIT : The only justification for this that I can think of would be "we're hoping to profit from the research ourselves somehow and the businessman is therefore doing us a favor by letting us study his stuff for free, so we try to fix his problem as we're at it", but I can't really see this being the case...

It's honestly a trivial expense for us, while serving as a way for us to learn more about the deeper mysteries of magic.

The only justification I think we really need is that we are responsible rulers who want what is best for our people, and that includes preventing them from accidentally turning into murderous crystal monsters due to weird interactions between Blood Crystals and Wild Magic at a ley line nexus.

The obvious choice would be to make him pay for it though. He absolutely can afford it - he's making bank here, and this is a stable revenue stream if I've ever seen one !

If this is the cost of buying Lychester's loyalty, I'm fine with that. If he bitches out and throws in with the Crown, we can shove a Blood Crystal up his ass and catalog the results.

@Goldfish, speaking of which their gear on the front page needs to be updated. They should all have Valyrian Steel Thinblades by this point.

This is literally not an option for them, considering who he made a contract with, unless they want to sell the blood crystal to Lannisters... who could just take it over.

That's a real risk here for him actually.

[X] Agree to test the effects of the hill's magic on living things first before warning the workers (Will require a research action next month: 10 progress)

Denys has extreme knowledge of biology and the arcane for his level. This should be a trivial experiment.

I'd like someone with Flesh Forge experience to be included if they have the time.

Two possible solutions:

Rotation. Have the workers take some time off. It reduces exposure.

Have the Fey check them. Helps build goodwill. These fey will probably ask for something affordable and good for the land.
