...Quick, @everyone, ask Azel story-related spoilers while he's in the questions-mode!
He shan't forego the sacred rules of the game!

The devil replicant thing raises a lore question for me. Devils can lie, but are also bound by contracts and agreements right?

Do they get some sort of out on stuff they sign while undercover?

If we tried to get someone who was actually a devil in hiding to sign an agreement that conflicted with prior oaths, would they be physically incapable of doing so?

Would they be bound to the terms of a contract made under false pretenses that didn't contradict anything else they'd agreed to?

Let's say we had a diabolic spy pretending to be a merchant. If they were dumb enough to sign a contract on sourcing alchemical reagents without an escape clause, for example, would they be compelled to fulfill it even if their cover was broken?

Part MMMCLXVII: Of Eldest Gods
Of Eldest Gods

Twentieth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

Devils and demons you offer up before the Great Serpent, the distinctions of the Blood War meaning nothing before its hunger, gilded asuras and the spirit binder of the strange vulture-kin of Gogossos. Here too does Lormar, mage of the Golden Company, servant of Tiamat and would be flesh-smith, meets his end, never awakening from his final slumber. With each sacrifice the silver bells grow more ethereal until they are as a spectral haze swirling about the staff and the bearer, and with it come smells at once familiar and strange. One moment like the Braavosi marshlands which you once trod so long ago, the next like the fetid swamps of Sothoryos, then other scents bitter, sour, alluring and repulsive as though one stands upon a the boundary of every swamp and mire that is and ever was.

To merely grip the staff is to know how it must be fed. To strike down into stagnant water, call out to Yss, the Serpent that Devours, and let the mists pour forth over whatever unfortunate being is tethered within its reach. Most would likely be consumed, though some might find themselves wandering the realm of the Timeless One according to his will, and should they serve loyally and wisely they might even be allowed to leave unharmed, if not unchanged. It seems that Yss has not been blind to the use of altering living creatures that they might be closer to his domain as you had asked him to do time and again.

Staff of Ages

Description: This staff seems plain though shrouded by an oily film that strangely does not seem to impede the grip of the bearer. Whenever it is held whips of ethereal mist swirl around both it and the bearer, bringing with them the smells of marshlands from distant realms and bygone ages. When the serpent god is called to feed and restore the powers of the staff the mist grows thick, a passage to his realm for the unfortunate sacrifice, though rare is the one to return from thence and none of them unchanged.

Ability: This staff allows use of the following spells:
Special: By using up to twice the number of charges at once during an hour long ritual, the bearer can curse a target either present in person or through a token anointed with the subject's blood without allowing a save.

Special: If the staff is broken by the bearer while it has at least 15 Charges all creatures within 10 ft. other than the bearer permanently advance 1d4 age categories (Will save DC 28 halves). If this would cause the victims to achieve an age category older than venerable they immediately fall to dust and are counted as having died of natural causes.

Recharge: Perform a 10 minute ritual over a helpless or willing creature that is then swallowed up by the mists and the realm of Yss. The staff will recover 1 Charge for every 1 HD so sacrificed. The sacrifice might be consumed by Yss or used by him for his own ends.

Charges: 0/30

Caster level: 15

***

A host of devils more does Yss devour of those you have summoned this month, the fel sarglagon, the drowning devil that had lead so many a sailors to their doom, the gylou, pitiless and cunning courtiers beyond compare, and last but surely not least one of the generals of Hell who had proven most troublesome to bind for he had filled the Snare with some strange alchemical concoction that blinded even your senses. Thankfully he had underestimated the resilience of the walls and so in turn had been bound.

When the last of the sealed bottles vanish down the Great Serpent's gullet his eyes begin shine bright as gold and black as ebony all at once. Like a great wind you sense its presence reaching towards the harbor, bearing a single undeniable command: "Awaken."

You suspect serpent-folk and naga alike might have been confused in hearing the call that was not meant for them, but Yss turns to you again and asks is=f there is aught else you desire before he must sleep. When you explain that you would summon a false god for him to devour his tongue darts out tasting the air as though in anticipation.

Alas that no divination you possess can guess if Yss' magic threaded through the broken talisman would be enough to bind the once-god to appear before you, for in the direct contentions of the Divine and Infernal farsight is clouded. Still, it is worth the attempt and the preparation.

Dany and Vee are quick to arrive, Lya only a moment behind them, but Teana is more hesitant to stand in the presence of the Great Serpent, or perhaps simply at so grand a summoning, but you can see a spark of curiosity in her gaze just the same. Once the spells have been woven and blessings have been spoken, you crush the talisman in hand as Yss had said you must, the devil's name borne upon the screech of twisting mental and shattered stone.

Ah'ro, two syllables of a broken name from ancient times, now a curse upon the lands of the living among the bellowing of great bulls and the howls of wolves. So it comes, a frightful chimera with the slavering jaws of a rabid wolf, the curling horns of a bull greater than those of any natural creature, its front half is almost human-like, though covered in think bonny scales, it melts into a four-footed body with the front paws of a wolf and the hindquarters of a bull. The infernal regalia it bears bright with onyx and red gold only serves to make the contrast to its atavistic form all the more grotesque.

Such is the thing's will and skill at spellcraft that it is able to ground and dissipate your spell as you cast it, but alas for it you are not alone. Lya's spell binds it in a prison of amber, almost as though it had itself become a mindless idol.

"What do you desire for thisss?" the vessel asks.

"Guidance," you explain, drawing forth the crystalline heart of the Herald of Ymeri, Dany had asked in jest if the tree has tasted that good, but ultimately it was not taste you seek but affinity.

"Upon two pathsss I may lead... the lit and the dark... the first you must burn a measure of your soul to find the gift you seek... the second none knowsss what here is. Choose," the voice of the god proclaims.

How do you consume the Heart?

[] Seek out a specific blessing (Cost 5,000 XP)
-[] Of the Senses
-[] Of the Mind
-[] Of the Will

[] Walk the Unlit path (Random Blessing)

OOC: I know you guys specifically wanted a senses enhancement, so here's your chance to get it, but not free since you are burning it into Viserys' soul.
