He's not quite certain what he'll ask Beren to do, but he's trying to make sure there are leaders in the Imperium who are of Braavosi origin who, decades down the line, will push some part of his own agenda forward and guard the city from the folly of any new idiots who he isn't around to get rid of.

Though I am deathly certain he will have a recommendation for continuing part of Braavosi tradition when it comes to selection of the next Governor-General. That's a conversation we'll have to have at some point unlike with Volantis, seeing as how Zherys never intends to die and we don't intend to let him. While I have nothing against Ferrego retiring, Zherys isn't getting away from us that easily. :V

That sort of tactic makes sense for his background, though he honestly doesn't need to worry about Bravosi influence waning.

Viserys is at very least heavily influenced by Bravos and is marrying a Bravosi native. On top of all of that, Dany is effectively a pint sized Bravo with better taste in armor.

The other cities don't have nearly that level of personal connections to the throne.

Should I do an interlude next or wait for votes and do the interlude as the last update of the day?
Interlude would be cool. We're at a non-critical point in the main story, so it doesn't feel like we'll be stuck waiting for a resolution.

I'm eager to see the next development in Rina's interlude arc, too.

We could have offered Relath a choice between the mundane stuff and the statue. Do it as a test.

Rina interlude sounds fine.

Heh, Durance vile. And wow Relath has bad taste.
It's not just about the statue, it's about the fact that it's from the original loot stash he had stolen from him.

He recalled off the top of his head how well it was defended on the original convoy, I'd bet this was the most valuable piece of loot Relath saw before he was driven off. That has a way of sticking in memory.

It doesn't help that he knows for a fact he can "launder" this particular piece of loot through the ferryman for much less dangerous shinies.

For a dragon, if you're taking something from an enemy, it doesn't matter how ugly it looks if it's also behind multiple layers of defenses and seems like the most valuable thing to them. Obviously it must be valuable!

Well, Viserys' best protected vault also contains valuable things ...

The test part was about testing his reasoning, not the trustworthiness.
Trust his loyalty, trust his judgement, whatever. Playing footsie with a Far Realm tainted statue right after a successful mission just isn't a good idea. I don't see the value in forcing Relath to make a snap judgement about something none of us fully understands.

Do you guys want to sacrifice the Statue in the same temple or make another shrine to the Merling King? I wouldn't actually mind another holy site with a Abberation taint curing pool in another major port city. Maybe revamp and sanctify the one in Bravoos? Or a new one in Volantis.
