Yeah, if there was enough time, you could do some pretty wicked stuff, including placing the nests in pits. 10ftx10ft nests aren't simple to hide, after all.

Given the following examples from spell text - typically under the eaves of a house, amid the rafters of a tavern, or in another obscured place. - I figured shallow trenches and long grass would be sufficient, total irregular space rather than a straight up 10x10 cube or sphere.

Nice. I've updated the fleet section of the Armory with this.
We are making one a month. So yeah.
One per two months.
@Crake, I don't think we should be able to make one in a shorter period than two months, even cheating liberally with magic, simply due to the vessel's size, but what about working on two simultaneously?

Considering all the engineers we've been training and the fact that a lot of the bigger pieces are pre-fabricated? We can easily do two.

Though if you're going to do that, bump up the Wyverns from 6 to 8 per month. That means 8 for the 1st Air Group and 8 for their hangar space.

That should be manageable, at least for this month. Too early to say exactly what we'll need to craft next turn, but I think we can sustain that rate of production.

Speaking of which, it takes about 75 Engineers (both maintenance crew and mechanics for the Wyverns) to man each Moonchaser-class vessel, and an additional 42 to staff the fighters we add to the air force. This means every two months we need to train 200 Engineers to keep up with that pace regardless, and right now we're only producing 100 in that time-frame.

So this is very much a thing we can only keep up for another four months anyway (we have enough to man that much, though only barely, any more and we start running dry of engineers to help put the things together, train more of them, and maintain fixed batteries. So for the next few months I am probably going to add additional Engineering courses. Probably at least two more, as that will produce every two months the 192 Engineers we need to staff our new ships and fighters, and another 108 more to maintain our infrastructure.

Any chance to subsidize that with Bulabar? Atleast for the construction or other infrastructure requirements? Because we do intend to install a lot of Cannon Batteries in the coming months.

Failing that I'd recommend adding more than 2 new courses.

We need to focus on the classic STEM courses; Summoning, Thaumaturgy, Engineering, and Magitech.

I wonder how far we could reduce necessary engineers if we crafted a bunch of Rings of Mending and Rods of Make Whole?

Each ring would cost 90 IM and each rod 1080 IM. Ten rings and one rod per Moonchaser would be reasonable probably make a huge difference for every day maintenance. Ten Prestidigitation rings, also at 90 IM each, wouldn't be a bad odea, either, to make cleaning easier.

I keep saying it but we really should outsource the non-proprietary stuff to just buying it. Vialesk makes than an actual option.

Next month I really will be petitioning for a couple hundred Detection Monocles. Of various types to spread a batch to every Provinces Inquisition.

I want those rods on every single ship in our fleet, especially since the rings are so absurdly cheap.

At those prices we could just make it standard equipment for engineers. Our problem at this point is we have way more cash that we have personnel.

Thing is, we need people able to wield those things, and having redundant crew members is kind of essential, as "total complement" is less 'the actual number of people necessary to man this ship' and more 'the number of people necessary to man multiple shifts'.

Still, those are good items.
