Getting any one emirate should be posibile, however it would be practically impossible to get them to unite under a common cause. They hate each other.
They hate each other, but they have multiple common enemies.

Like the Deep Ones and the Efreeti, and probably Hell as well as Abaddon and the Void.
...
So, @DragonParadox, in rough terms of political situation that we don't yet know OOC (but probably have some understanding IC), how likely would be us getting Marid riled enough up to go to war with Efreet as the 3rd Genie faction to join the Alliance?

We have enough proof of Efreeti depravity (efreeti wish-slaves we can summon, lore on making Divs, etc.) and profits to be made in siding with the Alliance both.

It kinda depends on details which we don't know though.
Marids are assholes, but if we can use them... why wouldn't we?
...enough so that whichever group we choose their rivals would actually work with CoB, just to spite them?

Hm, now there's a thought.

We should look into whether any of them already work with CoB and contact their opponents.
Hm.
Would then it be possible for us to have them all acting against Efreeti?

Not together, but each emirate on their own/with allies of their choosing?
This is definitely the kind of thing we shouldn't be doing on our own, but instead involving the Shaitan and the Djinn with. If we're acting in the capacity of our alliance we should use this trip as an info-gathering trip, decide which Emirates are the best prospects (so we don't accidentally diplomance a weaker/less desirable one and alienate a better one), and then seek out their help alongside our allies.

@DragonParadox, just checking, but the dragon Relath wants dead isn't politically important, right? I was hoping we could get a fight that doesn't sabotage our other operations here.

Stealing some of Relath's treasure after a raid on the Deep Ones. he said something about it being 'too dangerous for the likes of him'
Yo, we can always go out and kill that Necromancer-Dragon, making PoE safer while grabbing some very shiny loot ourselves.
Fully in agreement with that. Plus probably has a lot more names for more targets too. Plus lore.

[X] Goldfish

The irony of this is hilarious and delicious
Was not lost on me either. Part of me thinks it's a kill Relath by proxy plan. You know we cant kill Relath but we can kill a Brine Dragon just like him kinda plan. Hehe, kinda agree to it too.

That would be helpful, but my hope is to hire enchanters by the score.
Yes please. Or atleast Alchemists! They just won a Planar war against the Deep Ones. There should be tons of enchanters wrapping up army work and looking for private clients again. We should atleast be able to recruit a dozen or so lvl5 Alchemists right?

Hm.
I think, we should check if his domain crosses any other Brine Dragon's right now - and simply hand over the rule to said Brine afterwards if hey aren't much of a dickwad.

Relath has his own to take care of, and we wont leave people protectionless in such a place.
But with another Brine taking Old one's place, we'd also get a convenient trade/resources deal out of it, if nothing else.

Not to mention a new wave of immigrants. Not all of them have to go to other Brine Dragons, a bunch could just come back with us.

Part MMMCXVII: Under a Sunken Star
Under a Sunken Star

Fifth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

This has been the first journey where you had to face the fact that even the depths of your gilded cloak have their limits. The gold ingots fit well enough, as did the alchemical substances wrought at the Royce Works and which you did not want to risk carrying under the sea even for this short journey. But there are many other things that are carried in containers sealed not by mundane manners, but by melding the steel together with sorcery as though forged from one piece. There is pear brandy and fanciful metalworking from Tyrosh, dyed cloth from there and Braavos in addition to the herbs and reagents sourced from Fey-trade, the latter of which takes the most explaining as the Marid have the same wariness of Fey as any traders who would rather balance their ledgers than make an interesting tale. Still, the matter is swiftly cleared over a drink of Dornish Red within the crystal dome.

You learn that such goods are not wholly unknown in Vialesk, not only from Relath's earlier forays into the city but through indirect trade though the Opaline Vault and Armun Kelisk, the taxmen know red wine and olives just as well, though Dawn Mead raises a few eyebrows and fine steel is counted useful for its resilience to rusting even in the salty waters in which the city stands. More do you bring of course, the practical and the ephemeral side by side: woodcrafts from the Children, furs and hides from the North, chocolate, spices, and fruits from the Summer Isles, poetry from Lys, lace, rugs, and mirrors from Myr, rich velvet from Lorath, saffron and peppers from Pentos and Tolos, and more from across your Realm.

Lost 5,000 IM (Tax for Fey-Craft and Alchemical Items)

Once the tax has been paid, and you are reasonably certain it is a tax and not a bribe, the four of you are allowed to swim on past the lower gates and into the City of Splendid Waves, and truly does it deserve the name.

A sunken star set into the depths by the whim of some primeval power casts silver light over a mirrored city. Towers of pearly white limestone fluted like a narwhals' horn rise under a glittering lattice of crystal a thousand times larger than the one of the Lower Gate, yet strong enough to bear the brunt of an elder Dragon's wrath, while below it a bewildering latticework of stone and bright coral opens to the sea and to those who live in its embrace. Living lights great and small flicker through the crevices where the silver radiance of Palixna does not reach. Ships are leaded and unleaded by sure-footed Murajau, who easily bear weights that would unbalance even a Giant, while graceful Cecaelia make far better use of their eight tentacles than a mortal man could ever get from using simple legs.

Somewhat to your surprise you realize not all the latter have to make due with only eight extra limbs, some have yet more tentacles in place of their hair. Able to do the work of dozen or more of those blessed with only a pair of arms. A pity they would not be as effective above water...

Relath follows your gaze though not your thoughts in full. "That's the way to Splendor's Docks, where the ships and great beasts are loaded and unloaded. Come, there are several berths reserved for Brine Dragons, I suspect to sooth the elders' pride after Vialesk proclaimed its independence." From the small laugh that rumbles through his chest you suspect Relath holds no great fondness for his elders, not that you had expected him to given the nature of Dragons be they born of flame or brine.

The docks cater to strange ships grown from living coral, built layer upon layer and strand upon strand rather than hewed from wood or forged metal, though the boxes and crates seem of a more common make, clearly something the local traders eventually write off when the wear of the sea finally claims them. Sealed steel like you have chosen to use is clearly uncommon and obviously the mark of a wealthy customer given how readily the... well, not longshoremen, long-waves-men perhaps, crowd to unload the great flesh-forged rays.

Where do you go next?

[] The Mirror Market, where the submerged part of the city meets the air-filled dome to sell your wares and mayhap buy more

[] The Guild Master's Hall to try and forge relations with one of the city's many trading houses or use the ones Relath already formed

[] The Chamber's Sphere, the political heart of the city to attempt to forge diplomatic relationships with the Council of Five

[] The Glass Pit, the molten furnace deep in the heart of the city where the smiths practice their craft to see if any of them might be interested in joining your realm as Breath Taker hopes

[] Write in

OOC: Just to be clear the Murajau is nor armed or armored, it's just that that is the only picture of one of them available.

Damn, so many good choices...

I say we go with The Chamber first. Truth be told thanks to the in we got with Waymar going full anime and saving the princess we made obscenely more money than we could have done otherwise.

Getting cozy with the current leadership will grease a lot of wheels and possibly open more opportunities than simply hitting the market first would.

Also it's just good manners. I imagine more people in power would like it if Red Dragon Sorcerers introduced themselves before they started giving the more sensitive of the populace heart attacks.

-[X] Be of a mind to collect rumors of the political nature before you think of making an approach to the Council. Also, selling and buying goods is likely to be more soothing and less frustrating than immediately diving head first into unfamiliar waters, pun not intended, filled with as mercurial peoples as these.

[X] Crake

I definitely want to go to the markets first. I want beasts, lore, recruits, etc. @DragonParadox, this is where we go if we want to recruit crafters, right? I remember Relath recruiting two or three the first time he went.

[X] Crake

Markets would be a good first step in getting feel for city if nothing else and the leadership are merchants themselves.

I think establishing our bonafides here would be worth the trouble before we do much else. We're travlerers from another Plane, which isn't too unusual, but we're also a Red Dragon and soveriegn ruler of a huge swath of the Plane of Balance.

We would prefer similar visitors to speak with us before availing themselves of SD.

Things to get in the City of Glass:
1. As many crafters as we can hire
2. Mercenaries to use against Deep Ones
3. Anyone we can persuade to become our vassals to live in the underwater district of Sorcerer's Deep alongside the Tritons
4. Region-specific magic items, preferably stuff that's useful underwater
5. Whatever lore we can get here (and an Extraordinary Map of the City of Glass and the Plane of Water)

Hmm.

[X] Goldfish

Add this?
