And that's step one to figuring out how to move a Weirwood Heart Tree.

@DragonParadox, what's the progress for the next stage? I'm assuming this is the one where we figure out how to move the tree?

This is the research you guys need to safely move mature trees, yes next you need Dany to do the dreamlands research and then it's on the finding a suitable meta-material for your imperial god's skeleton. I'm still thinking of the step after that

So the Renplacement has made it to SD. Good timing on his part. We've got some gear being crafted for him that will be ready by the end of the month, just in time for him to venture back into the Feywild.

Fortunately for us Dany isn't our only dreamlands researcher, we've also got Aenie Caleris, daughter of Saenena. :) It won't be fast, certainly, but it won't be going at a snail's pace either.

We need to set aside a bit of time to get him some reliable companions too, though thankfully with the Orphne Court officially vassalized getting a fey guide is a hell of a lot easier.

Little wonder that there was a thriving black market in dead wood and even leaves in Lys or Tyrosh for would be sorcerers and fools looking to brew up a good fortune.
I am sure the old gods remeber well the tribulations of being well known and we'll regarded... Still probably a cross between irritating and face palm inducingly cringy.
pulled out a small carving knife and began to carve it.
Ya see, this is how you'd do actual magic with the stuff.

Anyway. Lovely chapter DP! The dichotomy really... It helped, and hopefully it will help F!Renly.

Do we have a group we are sending with him? We're we planning on scouting the faewild out?

Renplacement is such a better person than the genuine Renly...

I have this nagging fear that he's an artificial personality that doesn't even know he's a mask for some evil Fey Lord whose hiding from his enemies in the Feywild.

Nefarious Targaryen Scheme: switch the personalities so that the mask is now the default.

Okay so, calling now, @DragonParadox. The trees that the fruit Shade of the Evening is grown from are modified Weirwood Trees that the Warlocks of the Undying originally were trying to reverse engineer in a similar vein to try to become networked Gods kinda like what their weird sorta half-alive lich forms are now.

The project was deemed a bitter failure but they were able to cut it down for parts and are probably trying to have the same capabilities (divine network) but perfect living bodies, hence clinging to physical forms rather than pursuing the research more.

Alternatively, they wanted to network just like the Old Gods but Valyria's Flesh Smiths took over all the good Leylines and by the time magic was at the low ebb they didn't have the influence or power to reach for any of them, as they barely exerted control outside the House of the Undying until recent years.

If we find an Undying plot in Qarth, I'm going to ask for payment for ghostwriting again. :V

Poor Old Gods, everyone's trying to carve out chunks of their trees. It's a good thing we make it a point to assign guardians for every tree we grow.

Shadow of Greatness

Though the black-scale seems frustrated at drawing less blood than he had hoped he still flows though the air, moving almost faster than the eye can see he flickers away to stand behind the enormous steel golems. To your eyes it seems almost as though he is stealing moments, but you see no confusion in his one-eyed glare, nor any constraint in his limbs. Time moves with him, as much a part of him as the daggers held in clawed hand or the armor he wears. "Always at the last moment you come, like the twitching of a dying beast that clings to its suffering. Why must you torment me so?" the puppet hisses.
So, was the general like low-key racist or was this a general statement about his plans, because seriously

Edit: So, i seem to have forgotten how to add images or the new format is conspiring against me.

... that's interesting.

Not only do they see through the pale trees, but they also act as limbs. I wonder if we could make one into an immobile treant to defend itself.
We probably could. It just wouldn't be very useful, being a big immobile target. Not to say that the idea is without merit, but it probably is inefficient compared to making more conventional guardians.
