So how is the current arc working for you guys? I'm having fun with it, but it always feels like I'm doing something wrong when what should have been the overnight vote gets wrapped up before I go to bed. Are there any questions you guys would like to ask, any thoughts on the flow?

I'm really liking it so far. There is so much history to learn about here, with accompanying world building, it feels as much like a mystery to be solved as an adventure.

Looking forward to seeing more of this arc.

I like this, but I mostly want to learn more about the past. If I had written the plan it would have involved a few other Divinations before Legend Lore (Object Reading, and perhaps entering the dream to get a feel for the place + cast Divinations more easily), but the update I really want is a series of flashbacks about the past :D

Actually dealing with the current problems will have to be done, but... Later. For now, worldbuilding !

I'm really looking forward to unravelling the mystery and looting everything and everyone of worth within a radius of 100 miles.

By the way @Goldfish, my last post isn't a criticism of your plan. Using fewer Divinations will certainly mean that DP gives each one more attention and update-space, which is especially important for things like Legend Lore.

I didn't take it as criticism at all, dude.

If you have any suggestions to add to the plan, just let me know.

BTW since it is super late and vote discussion seems to have wound down I might as well throw in a recommendation apropos of (almost) nothing. I've been watching Stranger Things on Netflix lately and I really like it, from the story to the characters, but the fact that it is genuinely morally grey (and not in a brooding anti-hero/protagonist centered morality sort of way). To give an example there's your standard government conspiracy doing very stupid things to the fabric of time and space, but then the series thoughtfully analyzes what a measured response to that sort of thing is and how some of the people working there are well people with virtues as much as vices.

The 'almost-nothing' comment has to do with the fact that it has D&D referances that feel like they have been written by a D&D player and not just someone who glanced over the Monster Manual once, without going to the other extreme and being intrusive or silly.

It's been recommended to me by several people so far. I just haven't taken the time to sit down and watch it yet.

Someone in this thread recommended "Kingdom" a few weeks ago.
I just watched episode 1 tonight. Amazing start ! Thanks again for the rec !

My only complaints about adventurer arcs is when people try and rush things, because the worldbuilding is always a treat, not to mention the spelunking itself.

Yep. I wasn't kidding yesterday when I said I would be perfectly happy if the next week of IC adventuring takes us a month or more IRL to cover. If that means a lot of short updates and tons of decision making, even better.

I love DP's world building and this entire expedition is a chance for him to shine, while filling in a huge blank spot in Planetos' history.

Oh boy, yeah.

Stranger Things is generally mastefully done, the characters are amazing.

Season 3 has managed to seamlessly weave three or more disparate narratives into a cohesive story arc.

And holy shit DP it's amazing how you've turned the Freys into people I like reading about! Walder Primes assholishness on our side is a legitimately magical magical thing.

It's always nice to engineer someone's talents to work in your favor.

Though at this point "engineering" time is over, we literally just have to show up in some cases just to get the ball rolling. That's what happen when you work your ass off 22 hours a day and mulishly only eat when people are paying close attention to you, or over some light reading of financial documents that involve six to seven figure movements of assets.

All while the guy keeping your seat warm in Westeros farts around shitting where he sleeps.

  • [X] Viserys uses Wild Arcana to duplicate a Legend Lore spell targeting the council chamber, while Lya uses Wild Arcana to duplicate a Legend Lore spell to learn more about the arcane projectors.
-[X] Depending on what we learn, we will decide on how to proceed.
[X] Try to find the graves of some of those you have seen within the necropolis, the bones might help fill in the gaps in the tale
-[X] Any of the council members you've seen in the flickering image, along with any other skulls from around that time period to help fill the gaps.
-[X] While this is happening, Lya should try to pry more information from the light projectors.
--[X] Leave Ser Richard to guard her just in case anything tries to attack her.

[X] Viserys uses Wild Arcana to duplicate a Vision spell targeting the council chamber. He Blood Wishes a Spell Enhancer spell in conjunction with canceling a previously cast Moment of Greatness spell while Lya maintains a Harmonic Chorus spell on him, raising the effective caster level of the Vision spell to 27th.
-[X] As part of casting the Vision spell, Viserys seeks to learn what the Great Net was, how it relates to the arcane mechanisms at the heart of the Necropolis, and if possible, its current status.
--[X] Depending on what we learn, we will decide on how to proceed.

Retrocognition may also be an option here.

That seems potentially very useful, but there is some uncertainty regarding the quality of information granted by the spell. 'Psychic impressions' sound very nebulous to me.

I take it to mean the information is of a sensational first hand nature rather than a riddle or message.

See, feel and hear what happens.
