@Duesal Just the guy I was looking for.

[ ] Have the House of Mirrors run a battery of divinations to pursue a Stormlands tangle still lingering on your mind. Shyra Errol's father and last two betrothed met unchancy ends, and while you are aware that whispers of foul play and supernatural happenings can be just that--hot air--you would rather not leave any loose ends to your neat and tidy work for Lord Stannis.
-[ ] Oblique approaches to possible misdirection would be to guess if, for example, the means of death involved magic, if they involved the hands of fey or devils, or if say the boar that killed one of her matches was controlled by enchantment. Set the report aside for the Inquisition to pursue at an appropriate time.

Added. If there's anything sneaky we'll figure it out.

It is a DC 14 will save. Viserys's Will save modifier is 23 right now? So on him he would need to roll a Nat 1 to have one attached to him. Am I getting this right?
Yes you are, we also plan on equipping them as Savage Species allows a 10% premium for items and equipment to work with an incorporeal wielder, should be DC boosts and skill boosts in the short term, Tongues if at all possible and a bug out one shot in the long term.

We will also be creating elite versions with the remaining resources we have once we design and have it approved by DP.

Okay, after the past hour of doing this I'm just going to postpone this specific part of the Heart Trees until the thread figures out a solid proposal. Healing Trees are easy, but I can't come up with seven thematic trees on the fly. Anyway, we'll grow a bunch of trees now, and then later we'll grow these trees.

Here's what I've got so far. @Deliste if you've got suggestions I'd love to hear them. And I am of course open to this proposal being ripped to shreds and glued back together, there are probably much better spells out there.

Moving on from that:

Adding this. @Goldfish, do you have a Theon levelup ready? He went from level 7 to level 8.

I'll have a proper look when I'm home in front of a desktop.

There are seven hills all nearby, yes?
We can have each tree have unique useful effects.
Then all trees will be generally visited more often than the single closest Healing Tree - we just need to make sure that among specialised effects each tree has something that would be useful to general population at any point.

Seven trees, two standard healing effects and one effect keyed to each Sept. Pilgrims love that stuff.

I am both ready and excited to go! Take care of your ownself first dude. Well be here.

the Father, - break enchantment

the Mother, - estannas stew

the Maiden, -lesser restoration

the Crones, -divine insight or owls wisdom

the Warrior, -aid

the Smith, -crafters fortune

the Stranger -gentle repose

@DragonParadox @Duesal thoughts?
@Duesal I agree with Egoos point. One unique effect per tree is plenty.

Edit:
I should have been clearer sorry. MY suggestions we're kind of week. Sorry. Sorry.

Part MMCMXLIX: Trees of Land and Sea
Trees of Land and Sea

Tenth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

By evening you find yourself back in Sorcerer's Deep looking out at the world not from the perch of one flying high above but perhaps the even more revealing one of your desk, with the eyes and ears you had forged for yourself ever at your beck and call. False Ravens streak across the sky, and from the four corners of the world enchanted sand whisper with news. You make use of the brazier in Storm's End for the first time to inform an almost disbelieving Maester Cressen of all the Stormlords who could now be called upon to raise the Three-Headed Dragon alongside their lord once the time is right. You briefly consider saying something of the Storm God, but dismiss the notion, too strange a request to make so soon.

Meanwhile you are glad to see the influence of the Old Gods spread across the realm as blades forged in Efreeti fires shatter to feed the hungry earth, this time in other hands than yours. From Tolos to Skane, from Braavos to 'Snake Port' where Riz'Neth's people live, pale trees reach out for the sky offering blessings as varied as the people who dwell there, amidst gardens of rare herbs in imitation of what you had done in the Deep.

Sacrifices Made:
  • 37 Fire Giant Swords
Note, Summonings at the end of last month:
  • 32 Imps, 19 Legion Devils, 9 Steel Devils, 3 Bone Devils, 1 Ice Devil
  • 2 Shadow Demons, 3 Incubus, 1 Succubus, 9 Vermleks, 16 Quasits,

From his messages Riz'Neth seems to have had the most luck with finding interesting specimens to plant, though the limitations of the brazier in transmitting sound and not the thought-forms the serpent-kin are used to trading between themselves and men make it so you will have to travel there in person to see precisely what virtues the plants have and which might be interesting to harvest for your own collection.

"Remember to set mirrors watching the fate of the golden-haired girl," Varys hisses unexpectedly.

"Which girl? I know you are perfectly capable of distinguishing one human from another," you answer, looking at her in askance.

"But it's so boring to remember all the lordlings' names," she complains, stretching out cross your desk, earning herself an annoyed look from your more productive golden-scaled Calligraphy Wyrm assistant by nearly knocking over his inkwell. "I meant Shyra Errol. Two dead betroths might just be a coincidence with how very fragile mortals are, but then again it might be a plot to gain control of the lands one way or another."

"Clever thought," you agree. "Why don't you fly over to the House of Mirrors to give the order?"

"It's raining," she says flatly, as though describing some new form of infernal plague upon the land and not the gentle rains Zathir allows to fall upon the Deep.

You reach out with a smile and grant her the power to translocate across the city.

Before the rain had stopped or Varys had returned you receive news of a far more troubling sort—the Treasure Fleet had been attacked as it crossed the Cinnamon Straits by spirits of dark water and roiling madness which had aimed to steal or destroy the two braziers sent along, likely as a means to cutting off communication for a less deniable Deep One assault under the cover of a storm. Thankfully casualties had been light, due in so small part to the Herald excelling at both its functions as a warrior and diplomat, though when you learn what precisely it had negotiated with you call in Lya, Dany, and Vee for good measure.

"A tree-ship, hates people, but likes the Rhaella. Where did it come from?" Lya asks, fascinated.

"Qarth apparently, the Herald's been able to get as much out of it. One of the warlocks of old decided to shun the company of his fellows, but did not wish to crumble and die, and so he concocted a plan to merge with a ship in whose veins flowed Shade of the Evening that he may sail the world in search of new secrets rather than molder in the Palace of Dust, but he must have done his job a little too well."

"The ship came alive before he was ready to transfer his mind to it, and its intelligence decided that it would rather not be subsumed?" Dany guessed.

"More than that, it decided to pay its crew in the same coin, and that is about all it was willing to share so far," you confirm. "Were that all we could just mark it to speak to it later, but it seems intent on following and 'guarding the Queen Rhaella out of a sense of kinship'. Diana is concerned how well that would come across when they have to make to port."

What do you do?

OOC: The trees were grown by people other than Viserys because you now have enough background mages to do that, and not only is it not worth the screen time, but it would have been a significant chunk of the day to do so in person. The Plane of Earth trees will be in another update since those have to be done by Viserys as they are the first Heart Trees outside of Prime Material and that is unique enough to write up.

Napping really does mind-control DP through the internet !

EDIT : Holy shit, this really is some very cool worldbuilding.

So long as the ritual is limited to trustworthy people and doesn't spread under any circumstances there's no issue here. I'm looking forward to when Reva and Liset can start growing their own trees.

Trees of Land and Sea

Tenth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

By evening you find yourself back in Sorcerer's Deep looking out at the world, not from the perch of one flying high above, but the perhaps even more revealing one of your desk, with the eyes and ears you had forged for yourself ever at your beck and call. False ravens streak across the sky, and from the four corners of the world sand whispers with news. You make use of the brazier in Storm's End for the first time to inform an almost disbelieving Maester Cressen of all the Stormlords who could now be called upon to raise the Three Headed Dragon alongside their lord, once the time is right. You briefly consider saying something of the Storm God, but dismiss the notion as too strange a request to make so soon.

Meanwhile you are glad to see the influence of the Old Gods spread across the realm, as blades forged in Efreeti fires shatter to feed the hungry earth, this time in hands other than your own. From Tolos to Skane, from Braavos to 'Snake Port' where Riz'Neth's people live, pale trees reach out for the sky, offering blessings as varied as the people who dwell there, amidst gardens of rare herbs in imitation of what you had done in the Deep.

Healing Tree of Myr
"A craftsman's face, exhausted from a day at work, yet satisfied from his labor."

Healing Tree for Relath in Tolos
"The face of a Tolosi slinger, proud of defending his home."

Healing Tree for the Sealord in Pentos
"A kind, motherly face, welcoming her children home from the harbor."

Healing Tree for Riz'Neth in the Snake Port
"A snakelike face, curiously gazing out to the sea."

Healing Tree for Bloom in Skane
"A beautiful womanly face looking out protectively over the island."

Healing Tree for Salladhor Saan in the Basilisk Isles
"A winking roguish face that wouldn't be out of place in the fleets of the Basilisk Isles."

Commerce Tree for the Sealord in Braavos
"A clever merchant's face, her eyes skeptically looking out over the market as if making sure she isn't being scammed."
Secondary Effect 1: Abadar's Truthtelling
Secondary Effect 2: Keep Watch
Secondary Effect 3: Tongues

Sacrifices made:
  • 37 Fire Giant Swords
Note, Summoning at the end of last month:
  • 32 imps, 19 Legion devils, 9 Steel devils, 3 Bone Devils, 1 Ice Devil
  • 2 Shadow Demons, 3 Incubus, 1 Succubus, 9 Vermlek, 16 Quasit,

From his messages, Riz'Neth seems to have had the most luck with finding interesting specimens to plant. The limitations of the Brazier in transmitting sound, but not the thought-forms the Serpent-kin are used to trading between themselves, mean that you will have to travel there in person to see precisely what virtues the plants have and which might be interesting to harvest for your own collection.

Made some edits to the chapter, @DragonParadox.

So the second Warlock of Qarth we meet is a Tree-Ship.:rofl::rofl:

We're definitely going to talk to it. It'd be one thing if it was going to mind its own business, that'd be fine, but it's going to end up being a living diplomatic malus from here on out. If we're going to have it attached to the fleet we need to come to some kind of official understanding with it.

[X] Speak to the strange ship in person
-[X] Try to come to an understanding with it. You're not opposed to it joining the fleet so long as your laws are obeyed and your vassals are unharmed.
--[X] Along with the understanding that it cooperates with your vassals should the fleet come under fire again.
-[X] Make sure trouble won't be caused at ports where the fleet docks.
-[X] Ask it how the Deep Ones found it and convinced it to attack our fleet.
-[X] Transport three Verdant Wolves, six Advanced Druid Creature Lotus Leshys, and three Blooming Seaweed Leshys to serve as further support for the fleet, and to make up for losses incurred during the attack.
--[X] Make a note to bring the Minotaur corpse back to Sorcerer's Deep and raise it, and allow it stay at home and recuperate.

Can you add in that we transport a couple Verdant Wolves and six Advanced Druid Lotus Leshy to serve as further support for the fleet, and to make up for losses incurred during the attack? There Seaweed Leshy, too.

Done.

I'm still angry about losing our minotaur. We have so few of those.
Looks like I got my edit in too late. We also have three Blooming Seaweed Leshy in SD which can be assigned to the fleet to help make up for those that were lost.

As for the Minotaur, why don't we Raise it? Sure, we can't do that with every slain sailor, but Humans aren't an endangered species, whereas the Minotaurs are too few in number to allow something like a measly 1,000 IM diamond stop us.

EDIT: For morale purposes, however, I would return the corpse to SD before Raising it, and not send the Minotaur back to the fleet.

Fixing.

And I'm all for raising the Minotaur. We have put way too much effort into that endangered species.
