It is an unfortunate find, however we must make of this an opportunity wherever we can, it is the best we can do for all.

The impossibly huge mountain itself lies shattered. Almost a third of it is gone, only jagged debris silently float in the place where the left flank and summit should have been, others having been drawn much farther towards the hole in the sky. Clouds of dust you can see, snaking around shards so titanic that you can still make out broken buildings resting on their sides and tiny shapes in between that your eyes thankfully can't make out clearly.

And this is prime building material, I think at the very least we should retrieve some anchor pieces for the Imperial Palace it has to be a guaranteed strong anchor for Runework.

I am all for getting a big sample for Lya to poke at.

I was not referring to the necromancy.

Completely. I was referring to all the people still around. Living ones.
Right, my bad. I mean we should still do stuff but that's mostly delegation. Throwing spare money and manpower at Mantarys to do what they can. Definitely study it, take advantage of it and what not.

It just can't become a major focus yet, though.

It's too late for ressurection.

I hate this. I think I hate what I am about to say more than anything I have ever said in my entire life.

But if there are still bodies then it is not too late for necromancy.

We need to finish up that mastery of life and death, and we need to figure out those positive energy undead too.

It's... I know most of them won't thank us. I know most of them would hate it, but if even one soul can be brought back that's another hand on deck, and another chance given to someone who's was unfairly taken away.

If they don't we can at least bury them. Cremate them. Anything but the fungus forge, not for this. Please.

Two steps away from the light, and then one towards it?

*sigh*

Morality and alignment is such a tricky beast isn't it?

Calm down there friend, this is not the time to be Necromantically experimenting.

The Fungus Forge would be the best we can do for their corpses if they're collected at all, just be sure to grow creatures that would continue work they would have in life, builders and healers etc.

Like it or not raiding* the Upper Planes just sorta became a necessity to preserve what is left, and that's not new in our history nor that of ASoIaF, look at Vaes Dothrak, there's more than one culture who's last remnants in the world rest there.

There are probably a lot of relics in Vaes Dothrak that could be recovered. Some of them may even be celestial.

I had to rollback my ambitions somewhat with the Fungus Forge CR limit.

About to go to bed but while we are on the subject of Fungus Forge Creatures I really want to make some Gigantean Deep Badgers, Colossal Burrowers that can chunk through stone. One of these babies with a Legion could take the Vale in an afternoon, The Rock would literally be done by breakfast.

SRD says Colossal is 64ft or more, that's just about 20m and burrowers leave a hole the size of their body.

These are 20m wide sinkholes, just imagine the Badger was coming up from below.

But we can still achieve Huge sized Burrowers at CR7 that leave a useable tunnel if we acquire some Deep Badgers and apply the Simple: Giant and Fungal Creature templates.

This should allow Legions to advance at least 4 abreast underground at a rate of 1km/h.

We can go a couple hundred metres down and be essentially undetectable and it will take ~ a quarter hour to appear from beneath the streets of Pentosh at that depth.

Effective planning and a shallow angle of entry will allow Legions to walk out of a subterranean ramp onto any major thoroughfare with zero warning.

There is no need to storm the gates or any such nonsense when we can press them from Sky and Ground both.

I hard pass on fungus forging them.

Unless you can get post mortem consent anyway.

But experimental Necromancy is dandy?

Heck you do realise that burial is presumptuous alone right?

Cultural centrism is hard to avoid but remember that there is no universally accepted rites of the dead, burial in some cultures can be as or more insulting than eating them or making some fetish or symbol.

Recycling their remains into a force useful for the achievement of their former goals in some capacity or another isn't any worse unless you have a quote for what they do consider correct burial rites.

I like how you think, but our wonder giant bugs are there to do precisely this sort of thing!

They even automatically reinforce tunnels with a biological concrete of theirs!

I'm always wary of tunneling via creature. The danger of a collapse just seems too great.

I would much prefer to use a set of Titan's Tools to carry out those tactics.

I was thinking of them, pushed for their purchase even but I thought they were restricted to unworked earth?

If not then we should already have had a corpse or two to bump them a size category and get this plan started.

I'm gonna need a source for that.

I can believe that, but evidence would be a huge load of my mind.
@zxzx24 took a bit of digging but here you go.
Would Yrael see asking to get the bodies of the dead harpies, as fuel for the flesh forge as desecration, personally I think the flesh forge is a beautiful place of reneval, where death bloom into new life, but I'm not sure how Yrael would see it.

Harpy bodies isn't the kind of thing Lya like harvesting materials from, but the forge will take them just fine, and we can always use more Leshies.
Considering the fact that it is a holly place and treated as such he is fine with bodies being interred there.
The Archons recognize the Fungus Forge as a holy place and are perfectly fine with bodies being laid to rest there.

I'd be pretty peeved at a collapse occurring in a tunnel of a creature explicitly called out as leaving a usable tunnel behind.
Usable doesn't necessarily mean functional for our purposes, though. It would need to be large enough for men to march through, with smooth floors, no large debris, etc.

In other news, damn do I want to find a celestial smith.

I am extremely unhappy about only knowing how to efficiently make good magic weapons out of devils and evil dragon blood.

It is not good.

It is the badness.

Even beyond the lingering metaphysical taint of the 5th Valyrian god I would like to take pains to avoid becoming as cripplingly dependent on blood magic as the "can't put your pants on without sacrificing a slave" Valyrians.

Considering it's written in the context of being usable for a (group of) PC I would argue that's exactly what it should mean. There is not even a mention of it counting as difficult terrain so it should be no worse than a dirt trail.

Hes probably referring to industrial use. Heavy foot traffic, cargo, ect.

Well.
That was... Interesting to wake up to.

Nothing I haven't expected, mind you, but Yrael fell a bit sooner than I thought he would.

[X] Crake

While I'm largely okay with doing this, please, @everyone, don't leave Pentos to the very last minute here.
We had yet to talk to Yss, and he, too, will have important answers for us.

Ones we will need to plan around, and that even before mentioning aything about being efficient with his sleepy-times.

Also, shall I add talking to Moonsinger Goddess next month?

Had we visited Heaven just before the talk, there wouldn't be this kind of awkward back-and-forth...

No need. We'll talk to the Moonsinger Goddess later. Talking to her again just to ask her about Heaven seems like a waste of time.
