Where are we right now even? I have no idea what's going on.

I don't know how that can possibly be more FUBAR to forming a coherent plan though.

I...was under the impressing we were just retconning the entire update, but ok. This can be worked with.
I mean, it makes sense. It's not like we wouldn't have done the same things. This puts us back at the point we wanted: a chance to actually reply to Danelle's accusations without being completely stonewalled.

Do you want to get rid of the whole thing?

You are in a small newly warded chamber in the Starry Sept. There is a table and you are sitting on some slightly battered chairs.

Sorry if this is abrupt.

I just want this moving so I can prove to myself that I can still write this properly tomorrow. Otherwise I'm afraid I will be stuck writing interludes for days and lose the thread of the story entirely.

Read the update, gonna stick with:

[X] TotallyNotEvil

Simply put, we acted like they were our enemies because to be blunt we always expected them to be so. Point out why, let her explain herself, but let the minions go out of good faith because her asking for a meeting was, quite frankly, more than we expected to happen.

Hm. Snowfire, are you certain that you want to delete the entire update? That feels ridiculous. IMO we should be cutting after Dannelle's first tirade, not retroactively changing our vote!
We didn't have much of an IC reason to, you see. Now it feels like we're relying on OOC information.

All I'd hoped for was to avoid the hamfisted nature of the last update's first version, and then setup a better resolution to this whole mess adapted to the story DP wanted to tell.

This may be a bit out of topic but I finished Arc 2 and 3 for the summary and figured I'd post for review before editing the threadmark. I completely forgot how much happened in Braavos. Is there anything I missed that needs to be added?

Start: Ninth Day of the Tenth Month 289 AC

End:Thirtieth Day of the Eleventh Month

Purchased Wind House, HQ of the Windward Society and moved out of the One Eyed Rat tavern. First introduction to Velen the Phoenix from the recovered chalice. First rumblings of discontent with the Seven, over courtesans. First introduction to Tor Longstrider. Acquired the Shadow Veil magic item from the Wind House's attic. Dany's birthday is the 11th day of the 11th month. Gave her a harp and some books. Get a quest to figure out who broke up an animal fight by the gang. Meet Vee in the swamp and made a deal to trade supplies for information from her. Started a library.

Qs:
Does Dany still have the harp?
Old Ghiscari book
2 unknown books

Start: First day of the 12th month 289AC
End: Thirty First day of the 1st month 290AC
12th Month 289AC Plan.
First introduction to Tyene Sand, Daughter of Oberyn Martell. Start using divination as a regular thing. First investments in shipping. First reference to Bloodraven and his activities in Westeros. Lya figures out we're Viserys. First mention of Garth the Green and Aryssa the Pixie.

Waymar arrives in Braavos and gets recruited. Dany talks about God shopping. Got Lya a mysterious cat familiar. Saved Garin Drekelis and decided to temporarily hold off fighting his vampire Granddad. Got lead for Vampires in Lys.

Viserys: What a merry troupe we make, you think with no small amount of self-irony. Children out to hunting monsters in the dark. Pretending to be brave, needing to be brave because there is no one else to do the job.

Qs:
House of Kenib heir status?
Intelligent wolves in Braavos swamp?
Horen the orphan dropped in a swamp village
Nerys the tyroshi registers daughter returned to Braavos

I'm not sure how much compromise can reached in a meeting, tbh. The Old Gods wanting their pound of flesh is going to be major sticking point, I think.

The O.G.s are getting it either way. They've got two choices basically. It can either be in reparations to an injured party or loot when we tear it from their gods by force.

Maybe put it in more flowery language to prevent Lucan form lunging at our throats the minute we point that out, but that's the bare truth of the matter.

There was a different narrative frame of reference in play when that vote was written. If I'd known that, the vote I wrote would have been entirely different.

My OOC reasoning would have been different, and so the vote would have been different too.

I'm fine really. I never liked that update and not just because of the associations it will now have in my head. Genuinely if there is one piece of my writing I would rather consign to be forgotten it's that one.

They could be convinced to take it in magic instead of flesh, and Danelle has been noted to believe in recompense for wrongs done, so if we convince her the Seven owe the old gods, for the crimes of the Andal invasion, we might either see her convince the Seven, to be ready to pay some recompense to the old gods to make peace, or we might see her become disillusioned with her gods, as they refuse to acknowledge their own sins.

Acknowledging when you make a mistake, and making up for it seem important to her, if her gods refuse to do so, then it might at least shake her faith a bit.

Welp, there goes literally my entire understanding of the situation. I have no idea where to go from here. Like, we just spent almost a hundred pages debating the morality of the kidnappings, and now all Danelle wants to know is if they're safe. I mean, do we want to start out by assuring her we meant no lasting harm? Jump straight to explaining why we did what we did? Even the impetus for releasing them is gone, since we've no longer been accused of being a horrible person. I don't even remember what we wanted out of this anymore.
@DragonParadox @Snowfire IM not banging on the decision, just feeling suddenly lost. Don't mind me.

Read the last few updates to re ground yourself.

You can assume her motivations are the same.

She does yes and I think all the books have been subsequently identified. I remember you guys took them to Tor at once point.

Thanks!

And figured I'd move the questions out where they are easier to find. Most of them are just about if any of these things are worth spending some/more summary space on.

Arc 3 questions:
House of Kenib heir status?
Intelligent wolves in Braavos swamp?
Horen the orphan dropped in a swamp village
Nerys the tyroshi registers daughter returned to Braavos

The issue with the update as it stood was that it was a very hard one for DP to write, which made it awkward on its own, and that the vote I wrote was entirely the wrong one for the situation. In part that was misreading of my own. But it was also the result of the OOC calculations changing without us knowing. If I'd known the narrative systems had changed, I wouldn't have been nearly so overconfident.

I... would really love to know when things began to diverge that much. You of all people were always conscious of the difference between talking to a person and talking to a vaguely person shaped piece of plot...

When did it become normalized to treat them as the latter?
