I get that but if I just push though people will become even more disengaged as the quest will move on with less and less interactivity, so let me make this explicit.

Paging all Lurkers and occasional posters: It's alright to come out and vote guys, I'd love to see some new voices and perspectives and it would really help the thread keep going.
I'll admit that I don't post much or really do plan making, but I can't really participate in most of the updates of the day because you usually post the first one around 4-5am my time, and go to bed around 5pm my time (aka the time when I'm actually free to go on the internet for more than a 5 minute scroll :V

I'll try to engage more in the later day update discussions though; I'll admit that's my bad.

-[X] Introduce ourselves to Most Devout Olindor. Ask his opinions on matters of magic, it's place in relation to the Faith and Westeros, and what he thinks of the latest vote among the Conclave to accept the practice of mortals making bargains with the Fey and his opinions on the rumours regarding the Faith Militant.
--[X] If he seems amenable, mention with some small concern how you believe Kyle to have rather more radical opinions than the matter which just passed the Conclave in relation to the Fae. Subtly point towards the acts of House Tyrell in aligning more closely with the Fae - nothing precise, just what a wanderer of the Reach might know. If Olindor jumps to any conclusions we know to be true, do not confirm them, but attempt to guide him along those paths.
--[X] Once so primed, speak of Brother Lucan's speech and the rumours around him that he wishes to reinstate the Faith Militant. For one opposed to any magic outside the bonds of the Seven, it seems strange that he spoke so passionately in favour of allowing the making of bargains with the Fae. This is a realpolitik, pure and simple, but with Viserys' socials and the right setup, I think we can pull it off.
--[X] If he asks why Dywen is telling him this, explain that whilst we agree with Kyle on the need for moderation where it comes to magic, there is a difference between that and courting war between the crown and the faith - the inevitable result if the Faith Militant were to be reinstated. Whilst change is, you feel needed in these changing times, there is such a thing as too much as well. We already know this aligns with Olindor's opinions.
---[X] Maintain the Dywen persona; our suspicions are meant to place the inkling of an idea that maybe this may be happening. We do not wish to be seen as playing on his fears but cautioning him towards Lucan's "plans"

... We have warned him that Seastone is congealed mind-fuck, right?
Rahella did, she was quite firm on the matter. A reminder could be helpful though.

Oh, idea! "Devils" or whatever attack the island and 'fuck with the chair' and "Danielle and chums" go an deal the entire room, or a wandering greenseer it whatever we want to say "seals the throne room"

So either we break the chair and give it to the OG or MK, or just fill the room in alternating circles of lead, stone, some sort of "nature positive material if we get one, and a hardened adamantium shell (1 mm thick) or two, as appropriate.

If there is a deep one truce issue we don't want to poke too hard, we could straight up actually try and get Danielle's help and give her and her team the resources and support needed, if we get very lucky on how this conclave turns out. (Like insanely lucky),

Part MMDCCCXXVII: In the Balance of Faith Part Three
In the Balance of Faith Part Three

Sixteenth Day of the Ninth Month 293 AC

This is not the best guise to be countering Lucan or Kyle, that much had become clear the moment the Chosen had begun speaking. Still, you are inside the hall with none the wiser, you are not without tools or options, and the first one your gaze falls upon is Olindor. The man is the poorest fit for Lucan's ambitions besides the High Septon's representative, a traditionalist more by natural inclination than piety, a scholar and critic of the arts who would much rather the world keep ticking on its axis than be overturned by divine writ.

"He'll be upset over having to bed down in the sept for ten days, whatever he may say." Dany's upon sharing your thoughts. "That's Kyle's fault, use it against him."

"And Lucan?"
you send back, already moving through the thinning crowds of the meeting hall, approaching what seems to be the most amiable to Most Devout Olinor's followers to ask for directions on where to find the septon himself.

"The man is trying to upturn centuries of tradition and stability, and ultimately start a bloody war in which thousands might die," she replies, and you can feel an edge of contempt creeping into her voice.

"And he is a hypocrite in trying to use Kyle to do so," you send back. The path looks simple enough... unlike the literal path through the corridors and chambers of the Starry Sept that has you turned around and wishing you could use your Wayfinder more than once. It seems your sense of direction has not improved much these past three years.

After a good bit of searching you do finally do discover Septon Olindor, standing in a hallway and discussing something while some others listen. Alas, the person he is speaking with is a most unwelcome sight. Brother Lucan is filled with the same passion and conviction he had used to such effect before the Conclave, yet his voice always remains calm and composed. A far cry from the screaming, wild-eyed fanatic you had expected and as loathe as you are to admit, between his silver tongue and the inner glow he seems to carry, a most skilled speaker, a preacher with few peers.

So you step into the sparse circle surrounding the two of them, using the chance to gain a better measure of your foe and waiting for your chance. As he answers the last question, Lucans face is grim, yet determined. "Yes, I will fight, though the prospect gives me no joy, particularly with so many foes at the gate. Yet still it must be done, for the dragon has shown himself a skilled tempter. Has he not made a spectacle of how they cheer him on as he brings the knife to their throats?"

The irony of standing a mere two steps away from him and listening to this does not escape you, yet where you might have found it amusing at some other time you cannot see the humor in the situation now, for you can well imagine Olindor wavering in the silence that follows and indeed his words bring you no comfort: "So then you truly do not fear the dragon for being a mighty sorcerer and leader of others such?" It sounds almost as a revelation.

Lucan's reply comes much faster, no trace of hesitation or doubt showing on his face as he gently touches the amulet resting on his chest. "My faith and the Sevens' blessings have seen me through many hardships and battles, and it would be gravest insult to them to doubt that they will do so again. It is strength of body, mind, and soul we need in these days, but with it there is nothing we need to fear."

One of the septons beside you raises his hand at that, like a supplicant asking permission to speak. But it is not Lucan who acknowledges him, the chosen instead looking to Olindor who nods after a moments thought.

"Brother Lucan, is it not magic which you mean when speaking of blessings? It is said that you wield it, even though the Seven-Pointed Star warns clearly of it's evils."

At this, Lucan smiles and nods as if glad this question was asked and his reply has the ring of sincerity. "Magic carries within it the potential of deeds great and terrible. It allows men to wield a spark of the gods' own power. It behooves us as shepherds of the flock to remember that while the Seven=Pointed Star speaks at length about the wickedness of sorcerous arts, it also shows the virtue of the miracles wielded in the name of the Seven."

"And you would divide one from the other by intent, not from the source whence it springs?" The question asked by Olindor has the sound of confirming some pivotal point brought up again, to be certain of the truth of it.

"Of course. My power comes from the Seven, yet even my gifts could be turned to dreadful purposes if I were to waver in my faith. It is in a mans heart that virtue and sin battle with each other and no other then ourselves can decide it's outcome." As he speaks, he lays a hand on his heart, sweeping his gaze over all assembled as if speaking to each and every one of them alone. "The power as a whole is not inherently evil, neither is it good. It is the wisdom and morals of the man wielding it that matter. The same power is used by kind women to heal the sick, and yet vicious madmen use it to slave even the dead to their will. The Faith can better fulfill its earthly purpose in learning to accept and guide all mages upon a kindly path. That is all I seek, no more, no less."

Words you know well, words you had spoken many a time in essence. Whatever else he may Brother Lucan is not a hypocrite, nor is he a wild-eyed fanatic, yet it makes him no less your foe for wrapped in the truth regarding the nature of mages there is another that speaks of the man himself.

"This is not a man who has ever shopped for gods, nor could he ever were he to live until the ending of the world." Dany's voice interjects into your thoughts. Where once her thoughts had been touched with loathing, now you hear pity. "When I was still in the thrall of Tiamat I used to think how much better it would be were I to serve a kindly power. What a fool I was then."

Olindor nods at that, apparently satisfied by the answer he has gained from Lucan and the Chosen turns as if to leave.

What do you do?

OOC: You failed the roll to get to Olindor first and Lucan did a good job of talking him around to his point of view, at least for his next vote. On the plus side you now know how Lucan feels about magic and about Viserys (the earlier hints you guys dropped made Olindor ask Lucan point blank if he would fight dragons).

This doesn't really hurt our play all things considered. I mean considering that his views on magic border on the outright heretical we can simply call him on the fact now or convince Ollidor after he leaves. If we call him on his gathering of mages under his banner and play it as a man gathering an army he will be forced to defend himself from the accusations. From there it becomes a matter of pressing him and abusing his words..

I...

I think he thinks Danny was a messenger of the 7.

Which is greatly amusing.

Well I can think of several things we could ask him.

Several things I want to talk about with both of them.

But... most of it's just to satiate my curiosity.

Best sister.

No. From the bottom of my heart No, for this is what Lucan truly thinks:
Sometimes they joined with the foes gathering in the distance, while others grew and grew in profane knowledge and accursed pride.
A Wizard without his profane knowledge, a Sorcerer without his accursed pride is nothing.
Let not call any mortal or god the withered shadows of casters he would command true Mages.

What is magic worth without knowing you can use it to change the world, to rise above what you would have been otherwise and to challenge the very gods?

Keep in mind that would be a significant turn for Dywen

I know that we can not do this but it would be so cool to kill Lucien right here and now. Just unleash all our magic against him destroy him and walk on saying to the others well there goes the theory the seven would help him beat me.

While that would be greatly amusing, this course of action would escalate far too quickly. I suggest that we assassinate the man sometime in the coming months. He is a competent enemy but if he dies now he won't be a thorn later.

*pops in for a bit*
Yeah, compelte agreement.
Having seen him in action, I don't care about how much he will "push other champions away" anymore, since it's obvious he's sleasy enough to actually not do that.
He dies, and soon.

I don't even care about looting angels, tbh.
I just hate competent enemies.
