The plan was for Nizuta to ambush them coming from bellow but Valaena anticipated it and used her Derring-Do to jump him. That was a risky tactic since she does not actually have skill ranks in jump.

I would say no, because Scintillating Scales doesn't actually provide a bonus to AC. It just changes Natural Armor to a Deflection bonus.

So what I'm hearing is that she'll want a Greater Ring of Jumping?
Continuous Jump spell at 9th CL for a +30 Enhancement bonus to Jump, a +10 Competence bonus to Jump, and a Continuous Feather Fall spell.
Not a bad piece of gear for those who will be doing open air maneuvers without an innate ability to fly.
