Wasn't there an interlude with him trying to refuse one of them and the Fae ended up giving it to his eavesdropping daughter?
There was, but here we have the Mace in front of us with a Mind Blank. In any case, even with the fey giving it to Margaery, that doesn't take away the debt.
Not only that. A Fey Mindblank probably means that Mace is Mindblanked for everybody excluding the Fey.

And that they probably have a way to manually override his thoughts at some point.
Yep. I wouldn't put it past them to do that.

@DragonParadox, since you brought the same defense again, I would like to, again, note that Mace over-committed to this siege to a ridiculous degree. A besieging force of 80,000 isn't just complete overkill, especially with the Stormlander armies away from home, but also a logistical nightmare. You can't feed 80,000 people in a static position in one of least fertile regions north of Dorne without massive logistical problems.

The argument remains that he put a lot of effort into being useless.

Anyone could have sieged Storm's end with 10,000-15,000 if they displayed basic competency. 20,000 could have held it in siege and fought off any of the locals remaining with laughable ease.

He had 80K camped out in front of it, where it was already exceedingly difficult to keep them there to begin with.

When it is easier to move your host into march north to battle than it is to remain stationary around a single castle, that is saying something...

Are there any hard Canon numbers on the number of people at the seige? I remember reading somewhere that unless you assume that a plurality/close majority of the Riverlands and Vale where fighting with Rhaegar (which doesn't make sense to me personally. Darrys et al weren't that powerful even back then), then a good portion of his force had to have been Reach men and the whole "entirety of the Reach camped out at Storm's End" might be an in universe exaggeration.

We got an old interlude where he specifically refused to get one and the level of paranoia ain't matching up with the blatant mismanagement by the Devils going undetected.

Here.

If he was acting from paranoia, he wasn't paranoid enough considering Margaery got the ring.

Also, @DragonParadox, considering all the recent intel we got, who is the Lady of the Dusk? She was the one who gave the gift in the first place.

What we have are hard numbers on the number of troops present at the Trident on the Loyalist side, and even assuming that some of them were Reach men, they would not have formed even the MAJORITY of that host, and another IMPORTANT detail is that there were NO famous or noteworthy Reacher Lords or Knights present at the Trident, but literally every other loyalist had someone representative present to indicate a demographic of nobles could have been there. Except the Reach.

What that means should be lost on no one.

Ah so they managed to send some chaff... Does that actually hurt the lost raven narrative more?

What is Olenna reaction to what has been said do far anyway?

Nothing, she's waiting to assess our actual opinion on them. We're not stupid, which says everything, because someone already famous for more than warcraft but also intrigue and politics should find it glaringly obvious that House Tyrell is disloyal to House Targaryen.

But she didn't want to assume anything, Viserys could have been a prideful young prick who just assumed everyone wanted to kowtow to him because he was a Dragon.

Unfortunately the arena she is excellent in we are excellent in, on top of being a dragon, who can cut in half-way through any conversation with the famous adage: AD;AI.

"I'm a dragon. Your argument is refuted."
"We've got fey allies. Recon ... why ... stop laughing!"
<hrch hrch BWAHHA ha hach> "That was a good one. Allies. Do you have any serious arguments?"

The thing is that we dont really know the size of the Court of the Stars. Assuming they are a large court we cannot reasonably deal violence without our Mythic 10. Or, and I am putting this option out there, we could use an Old Gods curse on them. The Reach crown has a powerful connection to them and would be capable of ruining that's courts day. Of course these are nuclear options but these options must be stated nonetheless.

Having a nuclear option in our pocket is rather nice... Still, hopefully it doesn't come to that.

This is painting an alarming context.

Reminder that, coincidentally, almost all the debts they took were with our enemies... Could the devil and Garth the Gross have been serving another master without even knowing? One within Highgarden itself.

@Azel

Arent we kind of showing our hand here by being so blatant? They might catch on that we've subverted wide swaths of the Reach and dont really need them...

Yeah the feeling is mutual. As much as I hate the fey we honestly don't need a war with them over the skies of the Reach. It's more trouble than it is worth.

Most feel the same I'd reckon. Still, all options should remain on the table. A military solution is still a valid way to resolve this if a peaceful settlement were to our strategic detriment. The Court of Stars could be battled conventionaly by the Legion and extensive fire support back to their Feywild portals. Once they're bottled there we can Shadow of the Doom them and raze the magic forests to the ground. Such a destruction of Fey simbolism should close or at least severely weaken the Reach's connection to the Feywild.

Such a position wouldbe ideal to dictate/negotiate better terms. If we can't then, then the WMD's would probably come out. Divine powered feycrown curse, bilestone fuel-air explosives, aggresive anti-court of stars propaganda campaigns, thunder raids carried out by AG Battlecruisers decked out for long term deployment in case of time fuckery, etc.

So never really truly understood the politics of the Feywild but its a dimension correct? I am assuming there are multiple fey kings and queens in the fey wild?

Yes.
No idea how many, it propably changes with the stories told, but there are definitly many courts.

So great ones, headed by god-like Queens, like Ymeri, some minor ones like the Orphne Court was when we first met them, that we could wipe out in a day.

"Shit, now we must commit suicide by charging the dragon!"

A reasonable outcome by my books.

I'm more worried by them going full support behind Tywin, as they'd know they'd be up shit creak if we won the Restoration. The other option (which Azel pointed out a page back) is much more intriguing: them aiming for full independence from the Iron Throne with the backing of the Fey. A powerful ritual using the Crown as fuel/component could, perhaps, permanently merge the Reach and the Feywild. From that position, waging a war to reclaim the Reach militarily would be a much trickier preposition, and would defacto ensure independence.

Under such an agreement the Tyrells would presumably become powerful Fey lords themselves, but by now this is all just wild speculation
