I disagree with the undead being the thrust of the school though, honestly that's the least mechanically beneficial part of the school. That part of it has always been pretty bad for whatever reason.
Umm....

@Artemis1992 get this man to a Dread Necromancer, stat!!

Seriously though, Necromancy is probably the strongest form of minionmancy in the entire game. Which, coincidentally, makes it perfect for BBEGs.
BY THE POWER OF GOOGLE!

Dread Necromancer – Class – D&D Tools
Bam!
Corpsecrafter – Feat – D&D Tools
Bam!

Now imagine we had raised that ancient Green Dragon as a skeleton, improved by Wylla's corpsecrafter feats.
Instant high-power guard-dog on her leash.

often require fairly large maintenance to keep them from falling apart on you

That is quite definitely not how Animate Dead in 3.5 works.

That and you can't make any minions until you get access to 3rd(edit 4th actually) level spells.

And it's a 3rd level Cleric spell.

We will only get 2 more updates today and I'm hyped for the play and the proposal, so I would leave the joust for tomorrow.

Unless you can wait a day longer for HT help, in which case I could do a jousting chapter with Ivez.

@DragonParadox, what are the matches by the way?

I'll be doing the All Access interlude today. I can wait.

This is what I've been waiting for!

OF COURSE I WANT A JOUST!

Edit: Man, that was a really Sansa thing to say.

Yup, once you have BBEG levels and resources. You will have to be level 8 before you can create your first undead though. It would be struggle city to get to that point.

Animate Dead is a level 3 spell. Dread Necromancer gets Level 3 spells at level 6. And that's assuming the avoidance of Versatile Spellcaster cheese due to DN being a spontaneous casting class. Which if you can get away with it (be warned, any sane DM will throw their DMG at you if you try) means Animate Dead at level four.

Oh, right. Arcane casting. Level 6 then assuming Versatile Spellcaster. Though the 'struggle city' comment appears to ignore the frankly pretty great chassis that Dread Necromancer gives you to work with.

You can't learn the spell until level 8 though so the versatile spellcaster perk doesn't help there. And yes, the class itself is good even if you don't actually start any of the minionmancy until level 8. Which kinda makes my point about many of the best necromancy features not actually relating to creating undead.

Here are the first joust match ups:
  1. Ser Bonifer Hasty (Hedge knight) vs Ser Forley Waters (Legion Lancer)
  2. Ser Benjicot Brown (Hedge knight) vs Ser Archibald Yronwood (Mystery knight)
  3. Ser Criston Storm (Hedge knight) vs Ser Halys Belmore (Mystery knight)
  4. Ser Horas Redwyne (Mystery knight) vs Ser Roger 'Reyne' Hill (Hedge knight)
  5. Ser Hyle Buckwell (Mystery knight) vs Vardis Sunderland (Mystery 'knight')
  6. Ser Gerold Dayne, known as Darkstar, the Knight of High Hermitage (Mystery knight) vs Ser Philip Foote (Mystery Knight)
  7. Ivezhqoy 'The Dothraki' vs Ser Harras Harlaw (Mystery knight)
  8. Ser Jon Redford (Mystery knight) vs 'Ser' Gaevon Nargaris (Braavosi 'knight')
  9. Ser 'Red' Ronnet Connington (Mystery knight) vs Ser Karyl Grafton (Mystery knight)
  10. Jaedor Taraellis (Volantine Old Blood/Tiger/Distant cousin of Hermetia) vs Ser Raynald Mooton (Mystery knight)
  11. Ser Karl Terrick (Mystery knight) vs Vinarr Laeraenor (Tyroshi Magister
  12. Ser Raymun Darry (Mystery knight) vs Ser Gerold Torchwood (General of 1st Legion and newly raised nobility)
  13. Tytos Brune (Not a Mystery Knight) vs Ser Walder Frey called the Black (Mystery knight)
  14. Vaevar called 'the Valiant' (Sellsword, formerly in the service of Lys) vs Ser Wendel Manderly (Mystery knight)
  15. Ser Richard Horpe (Mystery knight) vs Ser Harmen Flowers (Bastard son of Lord Graceford)
  16. Ser Quincy Peake called the Quarreller (Hedge knight) vs Ser Erren Florent (Mystery knight)

Ehehehehe. Versatile Spellcaster is classed as high tier cheese for a reason. And that's all I'm saying.

Speaking of songs, did we ever formally destroyed the harps of building?

[X] Jousting
We destroyed the first Lyre of Building, then we made a bunch more. IIRC, we have seven of them in circulation right now. One assigned to Xor, one for Kira, and five we recently crafted for the latest cadre of Bards we hired in Armun Kelisk.

@Azel is the legion or fleet doing something at the moment?

It feels...

Yraels been in open conflict pretty much as long as he's been ruling, is there anything we can do to speed that along?
