Seven pages ago, I had people (@TotallyNotEvil and @Deliste, I think?) agreeing with me on the "Let's keep Lya focused on preparing spells" thing.
Now I don't.
Clearly I fucked up somewhere :(

I'm arguing for weaker options because I find them more flavorful, get called a filthy optimiser trying to grab all the best stuff regardless of fluff, and then to top it all I lose the vote?
Damn.

Fuck, I can't believe I'm disappointed by an internet argument over power levels. Going offline for a while, it'll be relaxing.

Timezones, sounds like I'll be disappointed reading on the train ride in but we'll see I guess.

Not quite sure what you mean by this, are you saying It sounds like he's fleeing from something, towards Sorcerer's Deep?

He saw one of Xor's Alter-Shape ring forms, which coincidentally happened to be his Aunt, in a bit of a string of coincidences and happenstance. Kismet, basically. Pulling him inexorably toward the maw of the Dragon King.

@DragonParadox

We'll interact with the Red Priests, and following that do the Temple design with Benerro's selected priestess.

Interlude in the meantime? How bout Garin?

Given the distinct lack of enthusiasm in talking to Red priests the last update has been overhauled again to refer to the standardization of time. Not the most exciting thing ot leave out overnight I know but I'm rather exhausted right now .

Yes that's it exactly. Basically the theme of the whole chapter.

Nub I meant from his problems. Like a cliche.

Ah i see what you mean.

He would say he's simply trying to maintain his freedom, which the Dragon King oh so humbly brought him.

@DragonParadox, I don't suppose we could commission a giant clocktower for Sorcerer's Deep?

And a clocktower for every major city in the Imperium.

Then synchronize all of them to whatever system we come up with.

Yeah, a big clock tower is the easiest and fastest way to let the population at large measure time.

Hm, maybe we could instal synchronized clocks, and define and abitrary time at which the sun rises in SD on an Equinox, and just measure the drift that way?

We could sync them to the main clocktower in SD. Similar to how the brasiers work. Each new one gets offset by however much we set the timezone to be.
That was more or less what I had in mind, yeah.
Sure if you like. That will only cover SD though. You need many clocks all over the realm and as of right now they are massively expensive luxury items.
Not just in SD, everywhere. Every major settlement.

What if we also setup the clock towers so that other enchanters could have a smaller device enchanted to to set themselves by that time.

Similar to how internet time works with the atomic clocks.

Hmm, since clocks are too expensive to make in mass, besides maybe a huge clocktower for SD, should we use criers to declare the time?

Frankly, we don't need timezones. China doesn't have them in the real world either and people are doing fine with that. It might be odd to visitors, but that's just by virtue of being unfamiliar with it.
