@DragonParadox can we split it between getting non-combatants and leaving the warriors? I imagine that will dodge most of those that will be unwilling to leave.

[X] Plan Thanks, but a bad idea atm
-[X] *Deepest nod/bow one can give Inn circumstances* "While I am honoured by your offer, the dark power that lies on this side of the wall means I would not be able to carry out my duties as lord of this land as well I should.
-[X] I see many free folk here living, adults and elderly and children alike, with stregnth and determination in the light of summer. A summer that has only a few years left.
-[X] Stand with me as Ally, Magnar untill this war is done, and then I will accept your offer, as I will be in a position to keep to my end of the deal. (Or it will have ceased to matter by that point). For now, i suggest a longer conversation with on the strengths of the Thens, and what tools can be provided to aid you in weilding it against the Enemy of Existance (n.b. this should be an ad-hoc contextually relevent naming that will not get the attention of the Others. They might see us in their temple, but we still have mindblank otherwise)
-[X] *to all present* To those too old to fight in a few years, those who will still be too young, I make an offer, a plea. Come south so my realm, least you fall to the cold and get up, a dead slave to hateful masters, turned against kith and kin.
-[X] *humorous tone* And to those who are still young, but eager to do their part (amused nod to the kid of 13, if present), there is nothing stopping you from coming to my realm, getting trained and equipped, and then coming back here in a year or two.

Suggestions welcomed.

No, that's a lie. Suggestions begged for ;)

Relocation.
Pro: You get to survive the beginning of the Long Night. You may fight the Other's from a position of strength (at least stronger than here). You get the support of the Dragon King, because sure as hell we won't have the resources to support isolated enclaves in a sea of death.
Con: You don't get a first row seat for the Others nomming the North. You won't freeze to dead and won't become undeaded in your former home.

They'd probably counter with "We've survived the first time" and/or "We've been here since the Dawn age and we're not running from our ancestral homes."

We need to give them incentives rather than wave vaguely timed (if imminent) threats around. The human mind is a stupid stupid thing that can easily convince itself that if the foretold danger doesn't happen within the next, oh, 24 hours or so, then it must have ample time to prepare and do other things against it. See Climate change for an extremely frustrating real world example of this.

They would.

And we will promptly counter with the fact that they wield relics of a bygone era rather than forging their own. The wards that once guarded them are worn and old, and will succumb to the chill of Winter when Summer dies at last.

And when that happens, the Thenns don't stand a chance. Hell, even we wouldn't want to be here. This is a horrible strategic location.

Just because they survived once does not mean it'll happen again, or that it would happen without heavy cost.

We should certainly ask them about trade, possibly forting up their valley, tell them plan to give them emergency exit, and get info of what has been happening among Free Folk.

Maybe if we learn of Mance we can get meet him and get his support as well since he can possibly become King-beyond-the-Wall and all. Not to mention he is looking for the Horn of Winter which is artifact tier at least and we could search barrows as well for magical gear.

You don't have time to become what you once were.

On top of that... I really think we should point out that their survival skills, and their knowledge of the coming winter, the first men, ect, ect, ext... Are too valuable to lose.

A little flattery won't be amiss surely?

I'd rather we discuss forting up their valley only if we completely fail to convince them to evacuate.

Ooh, that is a very good point. Appealing to their pride will go a long way.

@Azel, want to settle the Thenns on a Terrace Farm? Maybe they'll stick around because it's so nice!

Hmmm... @DragonParadox, can we have an update where they tell us their stories of their accounts of the Long Night, their heroes, the story of their wards, and how they survived this far north?

Perhaps we say...

Sure YOU guys could probably handle it, but those wildling idiots? No way.

We also totally need to get them gone before the long night so they don't become zombie chow. Maybe you could help with that...?

Dany and Waymar do not argue against the need to destroy this place utterly, but they are not without their misgivings. "What if there are more children like these?" your sister motions to the still dirty ragged children now cast into merciful sleep. "Or prisoners?"
Y: "Don't you ever worry that your incredible power, vast fortune, and striking good looks will lead you down the path of badness?"

V: "I have people for that ."

Dany just seems faintly smug, as
She's a dragon, smug is her natural state of being.

The easiest way to get them to relocate is making sure they know what they are getting into. Ask for a few people to come to our lands and see them for themselves. It's a much easier sell that way, especially with Winter looming closer every day.

[X] Join in the celebration of the victory against Winter, and take the opportunity to ask after the history of the Thenns
-[X] What do they remember of the Dawn Age when they first settled these lands? Who led them?
-[X] Who set the Landwards? Also, can they tell us what the Landwards do? How are they maintained?
-[X] How did the lands change after the Wall was built? What did they see of how the Free Folk lost their heritage while the Thenns alone remained?
-[X] What is their memory of the Age of Heroes?
-[X] Ask of the Magnar, who he is, how he rose to become Magnar, etc.
-[X] Current Situation
--[X] What types of monsters have they encountered over the past few decades?
--[X] Ask about their relations with the various nearby clans, any notable people they're aware of as well as their rough locations, etc.
--[X] What lore have they retained for the creation of items of magic?
--[X] Talk about the coming winter. What do the Thenns plan to do about it?
--[X] Tell them that you have an offer for every man, giant or other warm-blooded being in the north. A plot of land in a place where they will curse the heat, the ground is fertile and food is plenty for anyone who doesn't shy away from honest work to earn it. All they have to do for that is to accept the law of the land.
--[X] Especially invite their lorekeepers, godis or druids to send someone to your lands. You have a grand ritual in the honour of the gods planned and it would be a great ocassion for them to witness. Doubly so because they pointed us to the best morsel for it.
--[X] Make it clear that you are not offering them shelter. You ade gathering an army in the south. One that is even now being prepared for the night to come. And your idea is not to merely hold the Wall against the dead.
--[X] Ask that a few of the Thenns the Magnar trusts (or possibly even the Magnar himself) be sent to visit Sorcerer's Deep for a week or two to see your realm for themselves.

I highly doubt the Thenns lived in that valley during the Long Night. They may have settled there afterwards, or returned to their home when Winter receded, but they couldn't have survived there when the Others were rampant.

I doubt it too, but DP said they've been here since the Dawn Age and that is pointedly before the Long Night, so I want things cleared up IC.

[X] Duesal

@Duesal, maybe add a polite deferral to Magnar's question, something honour, don't know enough of his people yet or such?

Also, I wanna heal his ears if we have the juice somehow (Dany has rengenrate prepared on the front page).

He looks weird without them.

Their own legends claim they were part of an army sent north during the Long Night to battle the Others in the Deadlands while Bran the Builder raised his Wall. Of all that host it is said only the Thenns withdrew from the fields not as a broken rabble but still a host and so they found the valley and settled there once Night had passed.
