That would be a: "we are going to retrieve the orb and then move on home. Will you accompany us down there (points to ruins) or wait here until we are finished with this desert?"

That's a good point. So something like...

[X] Agree to take her back to Sorcerer's Deep with you after you have retrieved the orb
-[X] Offer her the choice to seek out the Orb together, if she would wish to.

R'hllor be like:
"Damn, Viserys is doing too well against my clergy. Defusing them and making them passive right as magic returns to the world and they have a chance to launch a holy crusade against the Darkness and the unbelievers ?!? Intolerable!"
...
[puts in the effort to breach our Mind Blank]
"Yes... I will send them Melisandre, and they will reform my faith for me! I'll be made an overgod-like figure, and they'll foot the effort and get me out of inter-divine war as other gods refuse my new Domains, because I won't have been the one to try to set myself above the others! And then I will be getting prayer and power from all around, knowledge and understanding of other spirits!"

While our PrCs are very OP and are better than the computer games, it is easily possible to get +70 bonuses on skill checks without even going wild with custom PrCs.
I may be missing the point of your post?

To be clear: I would never allow Viserys' PrC (or Lya's, or Daenerys') in my games unless everyone else was playing optimised Dweomerkeepers and Beholder Mages.
Oh Jumplomancer, why you so silly?

OOC: The DC for that last part, after taking into account the opinions you were struggling against was 90. With all the bonuses, both from magic and the speech itself you rolled 92, getting though to her. Melisandre now thinks you could be right which means she is going to try to investigate for herself.
Jesus.

I knew she was a fanatic but what you've basically just wrote is "we told a Grail Knight to his face that the Lady might be wrong about something and he not only listened to us he's decided to get off his horse and check."

Beforesleep thought:

What are the chances of Melisande's pendant being/containing a droplet of Campfire's Burny's blood?

Edit:
Thought number 2:
I dearly hope us bullshitting her didn't leave any lasting impression on any of our present companions.

I'd hate for them to get factually wrong idea of how the divine works.

@Azel Your thoughts on these updates to the standard Praetorian gear?

The shield boss is largely cosmetic, but neat, IMO. It does increase the shield's weight by 10 pounds, though, so we might want to make it out of Hardened Steel rather than Valyrian Steel. The weight increase itself is trivial though.

The armor modifications add 720 IM to its final price. Most of that, 500 IM, comes from adding the Comfort feature.

Praetorian's Regalia:
  • Razorsharp Valyrian Steel Thinblade (+2): Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 2[Enhancement] (Piercing), 18-20/x2, Weight: 3 pounds
    • Tactical Adaptation[Tripping]: If used to make a Trip attack, should you fail the Trip check by 10 or more or become subject to an enemy's Trip attack, you can drop this sword to avoid being knocked prone.
  • Fearsome Valyrian Steel Extreme Shield (+2): Armor Bonus: 3 + 2[Enhancement], AC Penalty: -4, ASF: 10%, Weight: 35 pounds.
    • Fearsome: +5 to Intimidate [Enhancement], can demoralize foe as Move action
    • Roaring Dragon Shield Boss: Centered on this shield is the likeness of a roaring Valyrian Dragon. A hidden slot within the shield allows the insertion of a Sunrod, which when activated shines its light through the eyes and mouth of the dragon. As a Move Action you can trigger a simple mechanism to shutter the dragon, concealing the Sunrod's light. Special: Increase the shield's Hit Points by +15.
  • Reinforced Segmented Valyrian Steel Fullplate of the Enduring Commander (+2): Armor Bonus: 8 + 1[Reinforced] + 2[Enhancement], Maximum Dexterity Bonus: +2, ASF: 30%, Base Speed: 20ft, Weight: 55 pounds.
    • Strength Augmentation: Strength score is considered +8 higher than normal when determining carrying and lifting capacity.
    • Integral Air Filter: +8 Circumstance bonus on saving throws vs inhaled poisons. Allows an Auran Mask to be affixed to it for use in airless environments, or those too contaminated for the air filter to render safe.
    • Commander: +2 competence bonus on Diplomacy checks, and each ally within 30 feet of you (not including yourself) gains a +1 Morale bonus on Will saves, but the highly visible armor inflicts a -5 penalty to Hide checks
    • Comfort: The armor sheds dirt and sweat, remaining immaculately clean under any condition. It can be slept in as through it were Light Armor, and does not cause a penalty to the wearer's saving throws to resist the effects of extreme heat. In cold weather, it counts as cold-weather clothing. In addition, the armor's armor check penalty is reduced by 1 (to a minimum of 0).

I think you can save the shield boss. They can channel flames with both arms, so we just need the shield shaped so that doing that causes a halo of fire to surround it and flames rising from the dragons mouth.

Yeah, that makes sense. Removing that feature.

And the armor? It's not a full environmental seal, but it seems to be a good baseline, IMO.

Hmm...yeah, I think it's about time I roll out something fun for the Praetorians.

@Goldfish you are probably aware of the existence of Celestial Armour, a specific set of chainmail that has some truly obscene bonuses. What you might not be aware of is that, by the standard item creation rules, it is possible to reverse engineer the effect that grants the reductions to ASF and ACP and the increase to max Dex mod. I have done this in a game I'm in, producing a set of fullplate that acts as Light armour (Mithral stacking) with an ACP of 0 (more Mithral stacking). Whilst that's not possible here as we want to use Valyrian Steel, I can pass on the cost of the specific effect. That being 7,700 gp.

This reduces ACP by 2, halves ASF, and increases max Dex mod by 6. Also halves the weight of it - not that that matters - and lets armour act as if it was one step lighter than it actually is.

I think that might be worth...770 IM in crafting cost?

Edit: if not for the Praetorians, maybe for some of the party. This is a fixed-cost effect, after all.

I've done that before, too. It's worth keeping in mind for future us, but not really helpful for standard Praetorians. Their Dexterity bonus is only +2, after all. Reducing ACP some is nice, though.

770 IM isn't much, but with the current modifications to their armor for comfort and survivability, the enchanting cost for their equipment is already at 3,433 IM, well past my hoped for budget of 3,000 IM.

Asha and Theon's sheets have finally been updated. Now I just need to do Rhaella's. Does anyone remember where that level up vote was?
Here you go;

[] Rhaella Level Up
-[] Attribute: +1 Charisma
-[] Class: +2 Dragonsinger
-[] Skills (20 points): +1 Knowledge (Nobility & Royalty), +1 Perform (Sing), +1 Perform (String), +1 Spot, +2 Bluff, +2 Concentration, +2 Diplomacy, +2 Intimidate, +2 Knowledge (Arcana), +2 Sense Motive, +2 Spellcraft
--[] Skill Trick (-2 points): Social Recovery
-[] Spells:
--[] 2nd Level: Detect Thoughts
---[] Retrained: Ancestral Communion >>> Wings of Cover
--[] 3rd Level: Air of Nobility, Alter Fortune, Overwhelming Grief

I wasn't sure if it would help, but keeping it in mind as a fixed-cost upgrade for Companions could be a nice idea. Waymar, Garin, and our other high Dex members could all benefit from this.

Ah, a sweet, sweet support/social levelup that isn't combat-irrelevant. Amazing.
Now I wish my latest group of players could somehow manage it!

Just started an E6 oneshot with some friends, didn't make pregenerated characters. One face with no combat ability beyond barebones Inspire Courage, one "I'm a sneak" Beguiler in a oneshot that I explicitly said would be against a necromancer, and two combat PCs with no stealth or socially-appropriate equipment at all. Party constantly splits, it's a pain.
