Although perhaps a better idea would be to simply have them put pressure on Winterfell and make their grievances known in the North. Eddard would need to placate them, and that would almost certainly come from cooling relations with the South, which would just make them even more suspicious, and you get the idea.

Why? It would be much easier to talk to the man and convince him to remain neutral than to talk to a bunch of vassals (who probably hate us) and convince them to air out grievances . Frankly it would be easy to do so. Just point North and remind him of what is coming and the Wolf will lie down. If not point to Jon Snow and see where that goes for us. It just isn't optimal especially considering the doubt we have already sown in his mind.

I'm just pointing out that he loves Jon Arryn and Robert as family, and really isn't a fan of the Targaryens. If we kill them, he ain't going to be bowing quickly or easily. We're going to need additional incentive than just vague warnings about the Others and distant successes.

Or we be magnanimous, giving Robert 1 chance to surrender and go to the Wall, and capture Jon Arryn alive and send him to the Wall, Robert will of course not take that offer, but the fact that we gave him the chance will mean something, and sending Jon Arryn to the Wall instead of killing him, will make getting full support in the Vale easier.

I think that what actually happened was they went directly to Pentos... likely because of our rather... infamous abolitionist tendencies.
At the time when he had to flee, Lys looked perfectly safe, as we had apparently cordial relations with the city.

Thing is, he might be in the tourney, hoping that we won't care about his past.

I do wonder if we'll see him, now that you've mentioned him. But I'd be very surprised if he actually does well enough to get our attention.

Mors sounds like the kind of guy I would like to equip with some good gear (perhaps for winning the melee tournament?), then use Lya's new Cyclic Reincarnation spell on. We want to save some of the Wildlings, but a lot of them need killing and Mors would probably enjoy that immensely, especially if he can do so as a young man.

We don't even know if they have indeed gone into exile, or at least I don't think we know that, with all the changes from magic returning, Jorah might have made different choices, like deciding to go adventuring instead of trading in slaves.

Actually it's very likely his selling slaves have been butterflied, we have been disrupting trade though the Stepstones for years, so it's likely that the merchant he sold them to in canon, either got caught by our Privateers, or stopped trading in slaves, because of the risk of transporting slaves though the Stepstones.

I would like to have Azema working on this brothel. The insane amount of info she could gather here would be amazing.

Also, this brothel is protected against Devils, what would be even more awesome than bypassing that with a half-demon?

Not sure we're even really aware of what happened. We just noticed that Jeor was depressed for a spell there but didn't prod him about it.

While trying to write a joking response to this, I've looked up the Mormonts and noticed two things.

1. Jorah Mormont and his wife Lynesse Hightower should currently live in Lys.
1.1. It took them half a year to run out of money at which point Jorah started to work as a sellsword. They either ran out recently or are on their last dregs if I recall the timing of his exile correctly.
1.2. Lynesse had a dalliance with some Lyseni magister, becoming his concubine. Either that never happened here or there is a decent chance that she died in the clean-up of the Spicers, as her husband was noted to openly favor her over his actual wife and was a merchant, so it's reasonable to assume that she was in the assembly during the purge.
2. Unlike what I thought, it's not Jeors granddaughter currently ruling Bear Isle, but his sister, Maege Mormont.

Also, @Azel. I just had a mindblast.

You know the Archon's lover during that moment in the assembly? The one Mereth decapitated?

THAT WAS LYNESSE.

I really do hope Viserys gets to meet him.

I would be all in favor of a miniquest to find his missing daughter and get his undying loyalty.

And also equipping the hell out of him.

WHOOPS.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I can't remember who mentioned it, but I agree that we should steal Robert's favorite brothel upon completion of our mission here in King's Landing. It would be glorious!

The only question is what kind of calling card should we leave? Maybe a placard saying the brothel can now be found across the street from the Golden Hearth Inn, formerly located in the Stormlands, but lately operating out of Sorcerer's Deep?

@Goldfish, that's unnecessary. The calling card is that the brothel will be gone. Who else steals buildings?

Someone wrote a neat series of Canon omakes last year that centered on the Mormonts. It confirmed that Jorah had already gone into exile for selling men into slavery.

I can't remember who wrote them, though.

That would be hilarious.

You are thinking too small. We need to relocate his favorite brothel, and the entire larder and wine cellar of the Red Keep.

I believe Jorah's exile was referenced in the quest, if indirectly.

On a side note, I've been looking forward to treating with Maege Mormont forever. I have a deep fondness for no-nonsense lords who take their duties seriously. It's pretty much the reason that Viserys wanted to loot Jeor Mormont the instant he met the man.

I'm tempted to auction it off afterwards as "Robert's wine".
This is King's Landing, where large structures have a habit of disappearing lately... (I wonder why?)

Better to be obvious about it rather than allow there to be any ambiguity, IMO.
Wait, what? What buildings have been disappearing? Who's been stealing our thunder?!
