For food details there is a companion cookbook/culinary record I had access to at one point, Martin is a bit overdone with the food thing. Details cuisine by region etc.

I can try and get it again or maybe someone in the thread has access to a copy for spot referencing.

After a bit of reading, lady in waiting seems to mostly mean something between, secretary/high rank servant and a-reason-to-be-kept-around-court-to-find-a-husband.
Not really fitting, especially since we already have a perfectly servicable title with apprentice, ie. Maelor and Viserys.

[X] Azel

Reading between the lines, the ladies in waiting as year long friends of the queen and presumably well married, likely were a pretty strong informal power structure in the courts of old.

though you do draw the line at explicit models of fiends. Not only are they almost certain to be misinterpreted, but someone might get entirely the wrong idea from them.
Are you sure?
I actually liked the idea of getting some fiend-figures out in production, it could educate children while they are playing.

"Really truly help I mean, not just sit around waiting to grow up.
Not sure if that was already answered, but what is Kyla's familar now that her brother is human again?
It's rather important for Witches, with them doubling as spellbook.

@Azel
I think you are overdoing it with the training a bit, both of these girls are (slightly) better than the average adventurer entering his first dungeon.
But unfortunatly we don't seem to have any small-scale Goblin or Kobold groups on our lands and most bandit or undead issues are a bit too risky for two level two chars.
If we just gave them one or two level 2-4 Fighters (more would raise the CR too much) I would actually trust them with a classic starter-adventure.

@DragonParadox have we invited Embra?

Hell, last I remember she was WBL-mancying her way through slavers, what's she up to?

You have not yet but you can use a sending spel for the task at any point.

In my head the festival was going to be built up through the whole month with minor events, teasers, and exhibitions, with the final week culminating in the festival itself. I guess I should have specified that in the plan, eh?

Does that jive with your plans, @DragonParadox?

Pretty much yes, though the build up does not take a lot of direct royal attention. It's stuff like local nobles sponsoring their own small events.

@DragonParadox has Richard thought about getting a Squire? What sort of qualifications would he be looking for?

He is not because given the fights he gets into it would just be a death warrant for said squire

Not sure if that was already answered, but what is Kyla's familar now that her brother is human again?

Her spellbook seems to still be Jorel somehow.

That is, in fact, quite wrong.
Check out XP rules: helping to fight stronger monsters alongside a stronger person gives a ton of XP!
I think what he means by escalating risks is that anything that can give a level 10 character a challenge can kill his apprentice as a little accident.
It's not impossible, but very risky even compared to regular adventuring.

I'm guessing there is some seriously twisted shit, like a slumbering Elder Deity or a really heinous Far Realm entity, chilling out in space between Planetos and the solar system's star. Not only does it's presence affect the amount of solar radiation that reaches the planet, but it's minor movements also cause orbital wobble.

We'd better start preparing a Grand Ritual to move the whole damned planet to some other solar system because if the...thing...ever awakens, we're all fucked.
It's a sleeping abomination, we are of course going to figure out how to get to it without it waking up, and then set up a grand ritual to polymorph/Shrink it, and drag it to Yss or the old gods to feast on.

I mean if it has slept for countless millennia, as long as we are quiet and don't harm it, we can spend years preparing to move it, and once we are ready, we have the grandest sacrifice ever.

Although we should check if it's necessary for life on Planetos, if it's normally absorbing 90% of solar radiation, and Winter is when it turn over slightly so it absorb 99% of solar radiation, then we need to invent a different filter, or Westeros will die in a super summer.

I won't weigh in too much outside of this but you can't actually, people will ask just for the excuse to be snubbed and get a bit more with another request.

Yeah, people suck.

Yeah, this. Because of how Face in personal politics works, if you're a person of means and your prestige is tied to how you are seen by both your peers and your liege, if you are snubbed by a peer for example, the only way to publicly reconcile that is to gain some form of public concession from the person who snubbed you. Just as, when being known as one who has earned royal disfavor, you have two options. Obstruct, or grovel. The former generally involves forming a coalition with similarly dissatisfied people in attempt to get an edge in regaining prestige or power and forcing concessions on those who denied or punished you.

This stuff isn't hard and fast all the time, since the people involved and circumstance matters, but nobles on either side of the Narrow Sea tend to have some narrow minded thinking about what the implicit response must be for various social interactions.

This might get shaken up with the growing influx of lowborn who have gained influence and power in our realm, not in small numbers over long periods of time who generally assimilate with the nobility's own social norms, but a multitude of people with different outlooks and perspectives gathered together who's own views aren't easily eroded.

Jorel the living, or Jorel the Doll?

Oh! Oh! I know who we could assign to Dany as her own Richard. Let's upgrade Jorel's old doll to get a fighter template and imbue it with a spirit from Axis!
Kylla can poppet it!

Busy over here restoring our clan House and killing a certain someone.

  • [X] [Golden Fields] Sell 35% of the company shares and immediately reinvest it into expanding the operations in the Daughters March. (Gain no cash, but +1 Size for the company)
[X] [VS] Due to the VS stocks being slightly lower then expected, mulch the last Gigantic Fiendish Spider to make another 800 pounds.

She had no choice back then, for the world didn't want to leave her out of it, but you two have." // While I doubt it will do anything, it can't hurt to check if they fold at the smallest bit of resistance here.
-[X] Assuming they stick with this: "Fine then, but I will give you any work without ensuring that you are ready for it. Glyra has been tasked to provide some fun and games during the upcoming festival in the cities of the realm. You will go with her and work under her. I will leave it up to her what you two will be doing and I will read her report on your performance afterwards." *dramatic pause* "Rest assured that reading Glyras chicken scratch, delivered on a torn grain sack, is a great sacrifice I make for the two of you."
-[X] "If her assessment is positive, you will train with the Inquisition here in the Deep for a while. This is in addition to your other studies and you will attend while disguised. Should you be found out or the trainers deem you unready for the work, we will table this until you have grown some more."
-[X] "Are these terms acceptable to you?"
-[X] If they agree, pay a visit to the Inquisition Commissar in SD and clue him in on the matter. You are expecting detailed reports and no molly-coddling. They will have to earn their approval, more so then any other recruit. His trainers will pressure them both physically and mentally, to make sure that they can actually do this. You would rather deal with their disappointment at being flunked out of the course then the results of them risking their lives for playing at being heroes.

oh, ye of little faith...
The gobs of this outdated comic have nothing, nay, less than nothing, on gobs of Wandering Inn.
Outdated? The comic still updates weekly, or almost weekly at least, the author has had some health problems and so occasionally miss an update.

But I will try reading the Wandering Inn, I remain unconvinced the goblins there are better than such awesome examples of goblinkind, as Complain about Names, Dies Horrible, Saves a Fox, and especially Fumbles, but that's no reason, not to see if these goblins can take the spot as second best goblins.

Meet Numbtongue, Headscratcher, Badarrow, Rabbiteater and Shorthilt. And of course the mighty Chieftain Rags!
I also have a soft spot for Pyrite (eat anything, fart anytime) and the Redfang tribe as of Arc 5.

I'm happy that ASWAH has no goblins though.

Ah, yes. A world without goblins is the optimum state of affairs.
