Ah... well... here is why I didn't remember what we need him for. We don't.

We needed him as a neutral third party to prevent the Spicers and Slavers from having a showdown before we were ready, but now that is no longer necessary.

Until two updates ago, we needed him to figure out what went wrong with Dipshit the 3rds invasion, but the Solicitor group just figured that out.

...

He has outlived his usefulness.

Well to be fair he is an intelligent local who might provide some stability post-conquest

I think Azel has written off most of the people who could have stepped up in Lys, unlike Myr, who he envisions as being capable of remaining more-or-less intact, barring those natural selection dictates.

So chances are he plans to literally debone the administration so that he can shuffle in people from outside, which admittedly will help consolidate the Disputed Lands and separate the former trade magnates inside the Three Daughters city states proper from the levers of power--namely by discouraging attempts at monopoly (that we don't control) and completely eliminating some of them in the bargain.

Edit: Or maybe not? I'm honestly not sure how much of the administration we're keeping, then. He was kind of back and forth on it from what I could discern.

That means Lootable Side Character.
"So, would you like to work for me?"
"What if I'd say no?"
"Then I would ask you if you intend to work against me."
"Why would I answer that? Honestly I mean."
"So, you do want to work against me?"
"Ehm, that's not what I said. Or meant. Or "
"You are not very convincing just now. Just mentioning."

I am indeed a bit torn. If we weren't already entangled in this ritual shenanigans, I would bluntly vote to let him die and let Hermetia gobble up his power-base.

Now though? It's a bit tricky.
That counts as a demotion? Considering how much the people we loot often benefit, I'd have thought the opposite.
Once he has been looted, he would be promoted to Minion.

With Viserys, you can agree with him and probably benefit, because minions who are content if not happy are just the most efficient.

Or you can disagree with him and become a liability.

Oh? Lying to him? Doesn't work. Magic.

Also is a dragon. Arguments invalid. No counter-offers. Our way or high way.

The highway is a step ladder to heaven.

Heaven is vaguely noose-shaped.

We could throw over the board here.
I'm optimistic that whatever has to suck out the wit of Lyseni magisters and considers it an upgrade is something we can deal with.

So... I thought about doing an interlude but it's late enough that I don't really trust myself to roll social combat encounters so unfortunately we are going to have to leave it at only two parts today.

[X] Plan Minion Acquisition
-[X] Tell him that there is a plot going on against the guests of the party, but you are handling things.
-[X] None the less, he should not trust the servants and stick with Jeanna and Mereth for safety reasons.
-[X] We need everything he knows about House Bartaris, it's history, the dead lord and other relevant information.
-[X] Also congratulate him on the thing with the tainted grain delivered to Idiots army. That was a nice play. Inconvenient, but nice.
--[X] Things are proceeding as planned and he should not interfere. On the contrary. Collaboration in seeing the events unfold in the correct direction could greatly benefit him.

[X] Azel

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

We should be ready with Prestidigitation on hand if he shits himself upon realizing who he's talking to.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ultimately, he has proven that he es is a smooth operator and can get shit done in an actually subtle and clever way. That makes him personally useful.

And I think the realization of just how thoroughly we played Lys as a whole will keep him on the straight and narrow.
