A Reforged World (NO SV, You are King of Italy, in a Greatly Changed World)

@Magoose maybe warn us we are only adding a +3 with the prime minister roll might have affected our plans. Oh well.
i mean, the stats are there.
So, are we about to meet the Italian Robespierre?
Nope.

first off, the Republicans are not strong enough to form a government without a coalition. and that won't see them with a Prime minister.

Secondly... and most importantly... oh boy.

So we have a bad prime minister well if the rolls on them are bad I say sack them with someone one new
Well, that may bring it's own set of problems...

Cause like it or not, each of these idiots are gonna have SOMETHING that gave them the support to become a candidate.
no. All of them are competent... just after Macheveli, they are not spectacular.
...And it turns out, we at least aren't dealing with a govt that would push idiots in power at least, just....

We aren't in a situation where merely DECENT would cut it. 😅

Well, the problem is, Daddy Mac set the Bar so high that everyone else just seems... crummy by comparison.

Well, the problem is, Daddy Mac set the Bar so high that everyone else just seems... crummy by comparison.

So basically every German Chancellor compared to Bismarck type of comparison.

Now now, I'm not that rude.

I also made @Randino Treviani as well.

Senator Octavian and Senator Treviani as Prime Minister Candidates?

Economics (Otto/Octavian) vs Literacy (Treviani) Prioritisation Debates will be going wild.

However, if we are doing another investments..

We should be investing in a yearly National Census System of some kind first.

Innovations we can do? Introduce the Printing Press, better make our plubishing companies dominate the book publishing industry in Europe.

Blackboards are useful for educators to write things down and create visuals.

Staplers and Staples to make papers that are meant together can actually stick.

Metal Paperclips can work too. Same as Binders and Hole Punchers to make paperwork easier to handle and place.

....There is one thing I can't help but think of.

Since our MC thinks our new minister choices are all idiots, thanks to being somewhat spoiled by our mentor. Can't help but wonder how the theoretical later historians would think about said minister, between the MC's opinions and others...

Might be omake fodder. 🤔

Just read Magoose's Marvel Quest..

I'd reccomend him to create a 2nd one, or continue it..the entire thing went insane out of nowhere.

Anyhow,
m. I'm pretty good at speech writing and mathamatics in the form of budgetting, but shit when it comes to legal stuff or command, and terrible at decorum, if you feel like making it accurate. Like, sloppy dresser and terrible grooming.

I'm passionate towards making reforms, however dedicate more energy towards economic ways to develop to establish an administration to have money to pay for my reform policies and further projects such as industrialism and Mandatory Public Education. Also have a passive interest in tech. I'd be terrible in etiquette that I'd deem "Pompous" for that very reason.

TBF to them, it's like being the successor of Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan.

How do you not seem mediocre in comparison to them. :V Sadly, Luciano can't see this, and it's a reasonable flaw for him to have.

TBF to them, it's like being the successor of Alexander the Great or Genghis Khan.

Funny thing is that Alexander had exactly that problem, being the successor of Phillip of Macedon, the unifier (and conqueror) of Greece.

Immediately after succeeding, Alexander had to deal with several rebellions of Greek city-states who thought that it would be easier to beat an unproven boy-king than a veteran general on the field of battle.......

The Academy Wars:D100 => 82

Damn I didn't think that Sicily founding it's own academy would cause this much friction within the fleet :V

Also Venice no you are not allowed to secede from Italy it violates the amendments you made to your own constitution!

No your not seceding you just butthurt about the navy not choosing one or the other, because of politics?

Sweet Jesus

Edit: Well we now know what our first crisis is

"Just when you think things may calm down. The academy wars go into high gear. At first it may not sound that scary."
*Cuts to two admirals glaring at each other*
"But that is cause you don't understand academia, OR the fact it is a clash between Navy Academies. Thus begins courtly intrigue, silly stunts for prestige, bribery, and other wacky hijinks to try and prove which academy is best..."

And then the Mediterranean becomes an Italian Lake just because the boys at each academy just keep on one upping eachother, and we then benifit:V

Lol, is it bad that I'm comparing this to a football rivalry?

Like, I can see this rivalry going all the way to what would be modern time for us.

I got a solution..

We develop Senshado, but instead of Tanks it's Ships.

I shouldn't view it as that considering that if it gets worse there is a very real possibility of there being a breakdown in the command structure and that would not be good for anyone, Esspecially the Italian navy…

At least not for another 50 years, once the culture is settled and it indeed becomes a football rivalry.

Isn't that just what naval academies do anyway?

They are called war games.

Though in saying that, we really need to get a damn army collage or something like that, before another city does something stupid and two pop up.

Tale of 2 academies response
Srsly, what the everloving blip is that insanity?

I know that even today, the rivalry still exists, but...

Threatening secession, debt collectors, some of those insane vanity projects?

The whole navy being divided by academy lines?
They aren't exactly baseless. I mean, who started the idea of building dreadnoughts?

Italy did, and for years they were competing against themselves, with the Naples shipwrights and Venetian ones making bigger and bigger ships, just because they could and their rivals were doing the same.
The records have even found confirmation that Naples went deep into debt to get their shipyard and naval academy, though they did pay for themselves.
At least they didn't compete over who could dig the biggest hole.
Not that it stopped a musical tradition born from said rivalry. I mean, records have confirmed that it originated in the rivalry. Starting after navy leadership refused to choose one over another.
...Naval academies splitting a whole fleet just feels too much like creative liberties. After all, it isn't made to be completely accurate.
Well...

Prepare to be disappointed then. Cause politics, the north vs south also fed into that conflict, with Naples being in the south and Venice in the north. To a degree turning it into a part of a bigger, but less visible conflict.
…The more I learn, the more impressed I am with how well they preformed in spite of this.
Wasn't there the one guy who's ship sank the first time it left port?
That wasn't Italy. Just an idiot royal in Europe tried his hand designing a ship, and no-one dared question the lack of buoyancy to counteract the weight, and it sank on the maiden voyage.
Ah yes. The infamous Vasa, which sank to a light breeze even before it fully left harbor. The Swedish really should have known better.

Though I suspect the reason the academies didn't beat them to that mistake was because they knew the academies would leap on any major shortcomings.
It didn't completely stop embarrassing Incidents. I mean, there are still stories circulating about how exactly both of the flagships just blew up during one of those annual show off shows, somehow.
The incident where their store of explosives blew off their bottom? Whatever it was, the situation definitely didn't help in figuring it out, especially with the rumors. Ranging from two idiots with pipes, to foreign sabotage.

Edit: Fixed some misspellings and grammar.

Interlude: Choosing the Prime minister
Interlude: Choosing the Prime minister

You looked at the men who were on the list, and honestly couldn't help but feel… a sense of silence and quiet. "Why are you not putting your name in, you are a member of the senate Master?"

Machieveli laughed in his bed before he leaned up. "I have already given much for our people and institution, and I believe that much of the matter would require me elsewhere. I had hoped that since you became a man, you would not need my input."

"Yet you have always been the one who has been needed when the nation calls?" You replied. "I am just the one who gave his face and his life so that you could succeed."

Your master smiled. "A Courageous sacrifice that all in this country will remember when history comes to write on your canvas."

"Or be forged in Iron." You stated.

There was a cough from your master before you handed over a glass of water. "Do not mistake my weakness and lack of…" He paused as he drank the water. "Strength."

"Then stay."

That earned you a laugh. "And yet I am going to refuse. You see my condition. I'll die, and then we will have a crisis that I will not be able to fix."

"I give you my absolute and unwavering trust Luciano, to make the right choice in who you chose. Because it cannot be any worse than doing nothing." He replied.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The list of men who were available was hand chosen by Macheveli… though that was after his heart attack, and you were not sure if the men were truly capable.

They were all young though, older than you of course, but young.

They were not among the old guard that slowly build around the elder statesmen that were growing in the Senate. They were young, and inexperienced, but had grand ideas and dispositions that seemed to think were going to work well.

The fact Cosmo did not wish to serve another term as Prime minister, said everything about his situation.

It was no longer a crisis, and there may be things that you could relax.

Maybe.

Who do you Choose as your Prime minister?:

[]Senator Octavian Ottorus of Milan: A Republican who gained this position because everyone couldn't stand him in the Senate, chosen for his eccentricities and because the rest of his parties and the Senate believe he is putting far too much stock on radical ideas that would see the nation bankrupt. He is eccentric, yes, but no one ever doubted his oratory skills, his keen mind for detail… now if only he could see that he needs to remain focused on his duties, instead of flights of fancy and ideas that… irritate you to no end. You have never seen a genius like him so interested in politics though, and that counts for something.

[]Senator Randio Travioli of Venice: A Moderate whose idea of not only maintaining the status of Italy but of trying to bring it, slowly, into a new modern world that has been created with the founding and unification. He is a man after your own heart in a sense, his eyes focused firmly on the future, if only for his own interests rather than others. You cannot say that he would be your first pick, but he was chosen by members of the party because they believe he would be a firm pick.

[]Senator Bertolfo Antinori of Palermo: A monarchist who formed a coalition government with the moderates to achieve his place. You know next to nothing about him save for his love of the Navy, and his very strange scheme, a scheme that would make you the pariah of Europe if not careful. He wants to use the navy to force open all the ports of Europe to Italian traders and merchants… by force if necessary. He believes, that in any event where profit could be made, if not by treaty, then by force of arms, they must be taken.

AN: enjoy.
