If you prefer working with Fey over people who appreciate money and political influence...Braavos has the fey. That's a much better source of magic than the Mysterium.
They are also in the opposite direction from where they are traveling.
Mysterium is the nearest and best source after all.
Would you prefer if they worked with the Lannisters, KL-Alchemists, or contacted the Warlocks of Quarth?
Good magic institutions independent of us are hard to find.
Braavos has nothing worth the name for sure.
Short answer, yes. The Dornish want more sources of magic? Fine. They can go to the fey, not a city we're in a cold war with.If you prefer working with Fey over people who appreciate money and political influence...
Except she is fundamentally, intrinsincally incapable of doing that.I mean, if any arcanum would have both the impetus and ability to figure out how to no longer be loyal to Lya, it would be evil researcher Lya.

@Duesal please, forget about Mithral weapons. They do nothing steel doesn't besides being harder to Sunder.
Mithral is for armour.
We could do that, but what are you hoping to do with this?@Duesal maybe offer to teleport him (plus a few companions) from his ship tomorrow ish when they set off to Brravos and return them to the ship before they are due to arrive in the next port?
Alright, removing the Mithral spear. I was only interested in selling it because apparently True Silver has the same DR-piercing qualities as regular silver, but it's redundant since we're selling regular silver anyway.@Duesal please, forget about Mithral weapons. I guess I just fundamentally don't get what is so bad about our allies working with our enemies.
Already didn't understand it with Aberi and Cersei andnow I still don't.

It boils down to it being a major violation of trust. It's a general expectation that your supposed allies don't help your enemies. If they do help your enemies, people who are actively either hurting you or threatening you, then they aren't really allies at all.I guess I just fundamentally don't get what is so bad about our allies working with our enemies.

For Oberyn only I'd personally have no problem with selling the spear. Looking back, after equipping Dany, Tyene, and Vee in Mithral Fullplate (which would take 82.5 pounds of Mithral) we still have 209 pounds left over. That is more than enough of a reserve, and it wouldn't be like Oberyn won't pay full price here.If Oberyn himself wanted a Mithral weapon or armor, I would be willing to sell it to him, but it would be extremely expensive. No friend, erstwhile ally, or father of a friend discount. He's rich, he can afford it.

Speaking of Mantarys we are friends with Angles made of pure holy goodnes. How can we abuse and manipulate this for PR?You know what would be hilarious?
Suggest Doran arrange a marriage with the city of Mantarys. Well, Yrael or a lieutenant, awakening a whole city is silly.
Edit: Just to mess with the Dornish.
