He gets nothing for free, IMO. Dorne has been a piss poor ally so far, and I'm not inclined to generosity towards them.

Even stuff that is free for us, such as the Continual Flame items. Those things normally require 10 IM worth of material components to create, and the Lar can only make one per day.
I agree, the only reason I'm even considering being generous is for Tyene's sake. I want her to know we made every effort to keep her dad alive.

I think it's reasonable for them to pay for what equipment they're likely to buy. On a high lord's budget, the "essential" magic items are a pittance by comparison to the more high-end stuff, but we're the only ones that can supply them and not rip them off doing it, which they have to know.

On the other hand, basically no one could have the temerity to request purchase of a +5 item and not expect to pay a premium for the time that was sunk into it.

No argument here. Fortunately for us, Oberyn more or less ignores his brother's will whenever it suits him, and right after we're done with Renly he's due to come to SD so we can help him prepare to raid the Rhoyne. Every single piece of loot they claim is one less for fucking Volantis.

Anyway, regarding that, things we have to offer them.

+1 weapons and armor commissioned from our mage-smiths
Silvered Weapons
Rhoynish Cold Iron mace that's been sitting unused in our treasury (he should be interested in this since it's a piece of his ancestors' history, and it's not like we had anyone lined up for it anyway)
Magelights
Obsidian Sand attuned to a brazier so that Tyene can talk to Oberyn pretty much whenever she feels like it (and so we can get a constant feed of intel during his mission)
An Arcane-marked stone so that we can teleport to him if he's in danger
Petty gear that can be crafted by Leila since we haven't specified her doing anything (Amulet of PfE)

He would be paying for everything except the magelights (although the silvered weapons are inexpensive enough that we can probably just gift that to him and gain some good will with Tyene). @Goldfish, let us know if any of this panics you and you don't want to offer it.

EDIT: Oh, and a binding promise that he does not in any way interact with the Mysterium. :rage:

The not interacting is an overreaction and outside of Orberyn's control on the Magisterium's end.

The man's going to Volantis. It's the Magisterium, Burny or the Rat people (who are probably quite lovely when not assinating passing mages).

What we can do is give him some sincere advice as best we can, and some gear. PfE is a must.

That's not true. Oberyn isn't going to Volantis, he's going to the ruins of the Rhoynish cities. Specifically Chroyane. Is Volantis on the way? Sure. But it's not the destination, and if we were so inclined we could straight up skip over Volantis with teleport.
Wellspring of Power (Dorne): Tyene tells you her father has left Dorne, leaving most of the the neophyte mages in Velen's capable care and traveled east once more in the company of trusted and skilled men as well as a few mages of the Order of the Spear, seeking the ruined Rhoynar cities in search for magical lore or objects of power. The Red Viper plans to also learn more of Volantis's mages and their works.
He was only planning on meeting with the Mysterium because they happen to be in the same place and raiding the same cities.
Fire against Mist (Volantis): Tis said Sorrows burn with sorcerous flame as the armies of Volantis advances up the Rhoyne by day, but the stone men are a terror in the night, one the Unsullied are ill-suited to battling for there is need for more than obedience in this battle. Vaenys called the Swift, commander of the Volantine armies, has made a most unexpected decision in the face of this foe, one the likes of which has not been seen since the most desperate days of the Century of Blood. He has offered some of the slaves traveling with the army the Trial of Meraxes, for those who would dare the most perilous tasks, of searching and fighting for the foe, of burning out the nests of Stone Men through the tainted countryside he offers freedom. Many of his own officers called this folly thinking that the slaves would flee with whatever provisions they were given, but the young general scoffed saying that he would have to work long and hard to make the slaves suffer as much as the Heirs of Garin's Curse would. From what your sailors have been able to gather his tactics seem to be bearing fruit, though some say that may because of the tremendous amount of power the Mysterium has staked on the endeavor.
However, when we got salty about this and pissed that our supposed ally was courting our enemies behind our backs, DP reassured us that we could just talk him out of it.
Well then you might want to tell him so. It's not like you are without influence in Dorne. A dragon in the hand is better that a Volantine Sorcerer in the bush after all.

EDIT: As a reminder, when bringing the Little Valyrians to Sorcerer's Deep, we flew right over the Rhoyne. There's no way we didn't. If we wanted to we could literally just teleport their ship to the river (and yes, Viserys can lift a ship with the right buffs), then with Vee's help ferry Oberyn's party to their ship. No need to even see Volantis.

I would rather return him after the inn-napping.

He came to see the interrogation of the prisoner. He should be returned after he talks with Stannis or else the Stormlanders accuse us of kidnapping him too. Else, return him at least so that he can reign-in the idiots who would come after Brienne over the fact that she was chosen and not them.

DragonParadox' expecting politics again and not inn-theft next update. What can be more political than supposedly kidnapping the other Baratheon also?

I mean, there's a chance that we'll be accused of it... people aren't entirely rational about these things.

Also of our genuine "hatred as a matter of course" level enemies, there's two options they have to countenance:

1) Viserys Targaryen has tricked Renly Baratheon into coming to his domain where he may be held captive. CHAOS!!!

2) Renly Baratheon has willingly gone to Viserys Targaryen to talk about who knows what, and returned unharmed whereas the last brother to end up within his vicinity ended up a hostage. TRAITOR!!!

There's no good options here. The only thing that might not cause this situation to erupt in political turmoil is Jon Arryn interfering with Tywin's lust for power and Robert's hateboner.

When you're relying on Jon fucking Arryn, who let Robert Baratheon lead the realm into financial ruin and Tywin to cement his House over the graves of children and anyone else who gets in his way for eight years with no signs of stopping in sight, to unfuck anything, let alone this situation, you know things have gone ruinous.

Okay, got a bit bored and did some digging.

The following people are sitting on levelups: Ser Richard, Garin, Xor, Maelor, (and possibly Waymar)

Here are the latest levelup plans I have found for all of them.
Does Xor get to learn two new spells, now that he's moving up to a new spell level? Or do they have to come from those we already have knowledge of?

Preliminary level up plan for Xor. Thoughts or suggestions?

[] Xor Level Up
-[] Class: +1 Beholder of Wonder
-[] Skills(8 points): +1 Knowledge(History), +1 Knowledge(Nature), +1 Knowledge(The Planes), +1 Sense Motive, +1 Spellcraft, +1 Spot, +2 Perform(Singing)
-[] New Feat: Practiced Spellcaster
[] Garin Level Up
-[] Class: +1 Twilight Hunter
-[] Attribute: +1 Dexterity
-[] Skills (10 points): +1 Hide, +1 Move Silently, +1 Sense Motive, +1 Spot, +6 Gather Information
-[] Feat: Practiced Spellcaster
-[] Spells:
--[] 1st level: True Strike
--[] 2nd level: Blacklight
--[] 3rd level: Vital Strike

[] Richard Level Up
-[] Class: +1 Paragon Knight
-[] Skills (5 points):
-[] Martial Maneuver:
[X] Waymar Level Up
-[X] Class: +1 Hero of the First Age
-[X] Skills(7 points): +2 Knowledge(Planes), +2 Craft(Alchemy), +3 Concentration
-[X] Spell: Tenacious Dispelling
I was unsuccessful in finding a plan for Maelor's levelup, I know for a fact that the spells for Garin's levelup were still in debate (although I know that the feat was agreed to be Practiced Spellcaster), and lastly for Waymar's levelup I have no idea what's going on there. The levelup is for level 11, and on the front sheet it says he's level 11 with the right XP cap and all, but he doesn't have the new spell he should have and I have no idea if the skill points have been added or not.

@Goldfish?

@Goldfish

Please leave the Inn-napping for after this task. We still have to hunt devil-cultists with Renly and the missing inn will be immediatly noticed.
This will make everything more difficult.

Yeah but seriously, @Wheel of time, I'm glad you're catching up on the quest. You still seem to have a ways to go though!

Not invested in the vote beyond not wanting to fuck up the timetable too badly.

[X] Malarys Imbues Vee with Divine Insight, Viserys Shadowcasts Grand Destiny on her, extract Hunter's Mantle.

You guys do have a point that getting the inn now immediately tips off all the local devils. But I very much want Hunter's Mantle more than the other two options. Fingers crossed for that wonderful Invisibility Su.

Getting my first rating from @Wheel of time felt like some sort of rite of passage to me, like 'if I've been around long enough that he's reading my posts I'm part of the community now' :D.

The Seeker can teleport. I like it having blindsense better and seen for the intimidation factor.
The Seeker can't teleport, it has Dimension Door at will.

Granted, the blindsense and blindsight would be very useful, but the other option is for an Invisibility At Will Su. That is useful beyond words.

Still a form of teleportation. We need more things that can spot hidden enemies, but fine. We use the Seeker to guard stuff anyway and I do see the value of surprise, tentacle spell drain anyway.

@Everyone, hurry up and switch before DP closes the vote and we get mired with politics.
