I would have preferred waiting the majority of the Progress to end with a bang in Highgarden, especially since it'll probably be the biggest and most watched in Westeros. Along with having the most time to train and mooching away attention from our newborn siblings.

But this tourney had Great in the name and has the momentum behind it, so here we are. Hopefully of any crowds, the predominately Northern commoners will cheer the loudest/not care too much about women warriors.

If it comes up, do we have the opportunity to pull a Daemon and duel the person that beats us in a joust?

Might also have been an "only in the final round" or a way to contest a disputed victory? I can't imagine that the rules allow you to do that at all the time, or else it would happen all the time.

That's more a Daemon thing than anything else. People just naturally indulge and cover for him due to being the kings brother. Tourney rules vary wildly though.

Oh Peake. Calling Otto the Hand of the King just a "second son" is a sure fire way to make Otto a enemy. Otto got pissed from Rhaenyra saving him from Daemon so can only imagine Otto's anger at a actual insult. Assuming Otto learns about this. Guess Rhaenyra can tell or send a letter to Otto? But yeah Otto not sure what to do is interesting. He probably wants to join the Queens side but his kids looking like they are for Rhaenyra.

Gotta respect the men for going with such a bold proposal like a wreaking ball. But is a big No from me.

And his idea of having the King taking away Dunstonbury from house Peake despite having it for centuries sounds like a horrible precedent for houses all over the 7 seven kingdoms to make the same ancestral demands.

Something like this would easily tear the Seven Kingdoms apart.

And besides, House Manderly took their exile as a challenge, and thrived when they were expected to quietly dissapear.

They are the economical Power in the North. Back in the Reach they would be just one of dozens of Houses.

PS: Rhaenyra could even make Paralels between House Manderly and Targaryen.

Her family was the lesser one of the 14 that ruled Valyria. Now they rule the Seven Kingdoms.

His family got exiled, and thanks to House Stark and their own hands, are easily the second most powerful House in the North, and one of the most prominant families in Westeros economy.

I'm not sure why people think Unwin is trash talking Otto? Otto is just a second son. Yes, he is also the Hand of the King, but that is nothing you pass down generations. In terms of marriage politics it really doesn't matter that much, since in marriage politics you need to think intergenerationally. Frankly, an office just isn't nearly worth as much as a fief, even if it is Hand of the King. That's not insult, that's just the reality of the nobles' marriage market. And it's not like the guy said it to Otto's face.

"You're fine with that, right?" you asked as you placed a hand on her shoulder. "It is a very open gesture."

"I don't think it is," Alicent replied. "When you win and you reveal yourself, if anyone asks, it will be easy to explain there was no way you could give the crown to any man who had your affections. That might be taken as a serious insult. So instead you gave it to your good friend and handmaiden."

"That should work," you nodded.
That should work indeed.

On paper, this is a perfectly good reason for Rhaenyra -whose desire to become a knight I doubt is a surprise to anyone who pays attention- to want to give her favour to her platonic girlfriend.

However
Alicent's face turned an adorable shade of red.
I suspect what's really going on won't be as well hidden as our girls might want it to be.

All eyes are going to be on Alicent when this happens, and some of the audience members are going to consider alternative reasons why Rhaenyra "Dances with Jeyne" Targarian would be interested in a pretty girl. And those people are going to talk.

It doesn't have to be Viserys, it could be us when we take the throne, and considering that whenever Viserys passes a war of succession will start and House Peake seems unlikely to support us, and Daeron II stripped away lands and titles from houses that rebelled against him and supported the Blackfyres.

Of course I wouldn't put it past Unwin Peake to do something stupid enough for Viserys to do it himself but yea, it seems to be a thing we can give House Manderly years down the line, but they've been exiled from the Reach for centuries, I think they'll be okay waiting a bit.

Interestingly, in canon, the Peakes would go on to lose Dunstonbury in the First Blackfyre Rebellion, together with Whitegrove, leaving them only Starpike... but we don't know who received Dunstonbury and Whitegrove. For all we know (especially since we don't know exhaustively who fought on which side), Dunstonbury could be ruled by a Manderly line again in the time of the books, though that is admittedly unlikely.

I should note the only one to publically suggest Rhaenyra might like girls is Arnold, and uh...Very few people give much heed to what Ser Arnold Arryn Thought. Viserys only thought Rhaenyra might be because he's well aware his brother was quite popular back in the day with both the ladies and lads on the Street of Silks.

... Our girls really need to get some intrigue practice in at some point. We probably couldn't even pull off this mystery knight thing without Tarly running point for us. In the end, rumors are gonna rumor, but it will have enough plausible deniability for Viserys to rip out tongues if it becomes an issue at least. Might make things strained with the stepmom if she believes it though. Even if she doesn't believe it she'll probably give us another horrid speech about how this is why we shouldn't associate with the likes of Jeyne and Rhea and how it leads to those sort of rumors.

The only way that's likely is if they sent some second son to fight on the right side during the rebellion and they distinguished themselves. Possible but very unlikely.

On the other hand if they position themselves right and something happens, something to keep in mind as a reward.

I do like the way that someone mentioned the comparison between the Manderlys and the Targaryens, maybe work that in?

Probably Going to let this vote go a bit longer though if no more votes come in I'll close it in a few hours.

To tease you all, I will say I have done all the dice rolls for the Tourney. The results have been interesting.
